Thanks much, Justin! We love these blind head-to-heads (and they’re getting even better in two weeks when we streamline some things). Appreciate you watching!
This was a really enjoyable comparison video! You guys are warm and welcoming, I wish I could come over and hangout with you, but we live a long way apart. Keep up the great work!!
I really like going back to your earlier videos as you start establishing your pallets, and that you both have very clear likes, instead of just agreeing. I'm a big Bell Meade guy, and I am sitting her mentally pitching it...but, I do like new Riff
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎😎😎😎😎 Rocking chair tasting note. Erin you crack me up. 😂🤣😂. Josh I like the New Riff Bottle but I understand your point. I actually made a lamp with a New Riff SB bottle for my Desk.
We hear ya Kathy! Seems like there are always great New Riff picks floating around town, and with so many stores here with open sample bottles, you can't beat trying before you buy. Cheers!
Can I just say from an artistic perspective you have absolutely nailed your filming set. The accent lighting, depth creation with the open door behind you and the mirror positioning is classy perfection. Very well done. As for the bourbon, I’m still waiting to get my hands on a New Riff BP. Sounds delicious.
Saw that this was 3 years old, by now you both know how great New Riff Single Barrel is. I found it at Woodman's for 46.99, so darned good. Cannot find Belle Meade anywhere
Wish I would have known you were from Nashville. I could have looked you two up for a sip or two. I went to Nelsons and Corsair. Enjoyed them very much and the museum as well. I was there at the start of the week so I couldn't get to Uncle Nearest and Dickel. I did find a Davidson Reserve barrel pick I really like. Next time in town! Cheers.
Been really enjoying your channel. Especially as we have similar tastes. Was curious where you found the little bottles used for the blinds. A couple of buddies of mine from work have been using emptied half pint bottles to trade bourbons we havent tried. Those would be much better. Really hope y'all keep up the great content👍 from another Nashvillian
Thanks - I have to keep my eye our for New Riff now, I have seen it and like Josh, I didn't like the way the bottle looked, and I hadn't hear of it before.
I like both of these .right now i feel the belle meade is slightly better but that opinion may change in the future when new riff as some older more mature stocks to bottle. There own distillate is still relatively young. Belle meade reserve is sourced mgp somewhere around 9 yrs old i believe.
We believe you’re correct on Belle Meade although Bardstown Bourbon Company is allegedly doing contract distillation for them too. That may not be to market though but we saw Belle Meade barrels aging at Bardstown when we toured with a “no comment” by our guide when asked.
@@stuffandwhiskey Belle Meade Reserve is made by the up-and-coming MGP distillery. It says it right on the bottle, as every bottle is required to identify the state of distillation. Man, I hope we get some more great whiskey from this new, mysterious, unknown distillery. 8^O
It’s good stuff but there’s also plenty of other great stuff out there. If you ever do eh across some though, we’d say grab it. Definitely worth a try. Cheers Jonathan!
It’s good for a young distillery but it’s $54.99 for four year old, ~105 proof bourbon. Not necessarily a great value by any means. Honestly, give me an Elijah Craig small batch store pick (usually 8-10 years) for $36.99 over New Riff barrel proof any day.
Great job once again. New Riff distribution is not all that broad, I've seen their core line once or twice, but it's rare Would love to hear how you pick the matchups. They all make good sense, just curious. Like, have you tasted most of these before?
Interesting Mike! Can’t imagine the demand for New Riff is very high. It’s all over the place around here but it’s been insightful hearing how it’s not in some areas. As for the matchups, some are based on previous side-by-side tastings (some blind, some not), some on price, some on hyped/allocated vs. available, some are experimental (fresh crack first two ounces vs. last 2 oz of a bottle after tons of air for instance), some because others recommend them, some based on highly popular “regular products” (we have Jim Beam vs Jack Daniel’s in there), etc. Basically we like to keep ourselves on our toes so we never know what to expect. We figure that keeps us honest and gets you guys the most unbiased opinions possible.
I love New Riff, and the Belle Meade's that I've had. I haven't had the Belle Meade Reserve yet, but have had the regular one, Madeira finished, Cognac finished, and Sherry finished. I don't think that New Riff whiskey is young, it's all at least 4yo. For me, young is less than 4 years.
Something is going on with those New Riff warehouses. Not that we’re that discerning but it comes across a lot darker and richer than any 4 year bourbon we’ve had before. good call on the finished Belle Meades. That’s admittedly a blind spot for us. We’ll fix that soon. Cheers and thanks for watching Matthew!
Great video! I really enjoy the format and how you guys do these double blinds. New Riff is great stuff!
Thanks much, Justin! We love these blind head-to-heads (and they’re getting even better in two weeks when we streamline some things). Appreciate you watching!
Love the new note of "Rocking Chair" - I love Belle Meade
Cheers to that Thomas!
Being a rye gal Erin now you have to try New Riff rye....highly recommended!
Definitely! It’s on our list. Thanks Jason!
This was a really enjoyable comparison video! You guys are warm and welcoming, I wish I could come over and hangout with you, but we live a long way apart. Keep up the great work!!
That’s a huge compliment Nate. Thank you so much! If you’re ever in Nashville let us know!

Love your tasting and scoring methodology!
Thanks so much Coby! Give us two weeks-it gets ever better. Cheers!

High level tasting notes here. 😂 Thanks Jay!
Great video. Really like New Riff and need to get a bottle back in the collection. Haven't had the Belle Meade yet but will have to try it soon.
We hear ya Kathy! Seems like there are always great New Riff picks floating around town, and with so many stores here with open sample bottles, you can't beat trying before you buy. Cheers!
As always, love these. keep it up! New riff single barrels are gold, ive got three that i absolutely love. Cheers guys!
Quickly becoming one of our favorite values in whiskey. Thanks for watching Brantley!
Haven't tried either but I did pick up a bottle of Belle Meade X0 in Nashville a few weeks back. Damn is that delicious! Cheers.
Good call Mike! We really need to get into the finished Belle Meade stuff. It’s them at their best (by all accounts).
Can I just say from an artistic perspective you have absolutely nailed your filming set. Thanks so much David! Here's to hoping you get that New Riff BP sooner rather than later. Cheers!

New Riff is still killing it these days! Even more so now with their 8 year age stated products.
I have an off the shelf new riff SiB that I just love. I also just won a pick and it’s in the mail. I can’t wait!
Cheers to that Andrew!

Nice snag on the Davidson Reserve. Great company! Be sure to let us know if you’re ever back in town Mike!
Picked up a New Riff SB BP yesterday and totally get the BBQ chips note on the nose! Solid pour for under $50. Cheers 🥃🥃
That’s too cool John! Thanks for watching!

Definitely do, Timm. We’re sorry we waited so long!
Belle Meade reserv is fadding out. I haven't had it and need to get it b4 fully gone
Don't sweat, the Belle Meade 108 is really good also, with that same lingering sweet wood flavor
Good to know. Thanks Geno!

I never felt like I was missing much with New Riff being basically non existent in AL, but now I do ☹️
It’s good stuff but there’s also plenty of other great stuff out there. If you ever do eh across some though, we’d say grab it. Definitely worth a try. Cheers Jonathan!

Its here in the Pensacola area. Have a new Total Wine
Never seen New Riff in NC or SC. I’ll buy if I find it.
Paging New Riff. The Carolinas need distribution, stat!
Getting low on both of those bottles as well and enjoy them both
Some of the best value out there for a change of pace from the historic distilleries. Cheers ORIF!
Great job once again.

before I get into it, i'm gonna to new riff
My new riff sib store pick tastes like straight honey. So good.
We’re thinking these New Riff picks may be some of the best value in bourbon. Cheers Arik!

Breakfast bourbon
New riff sb has always been good
Bummed we passed on it so many times in years past. After getting this one late last year we’ll always keep a bottle around now (if not multiples).
