I know this is an old video but just bought a New Riff Single Barrel store pick. Had it the first night and was super impressed! Had another glencairn a few nights later. Went back to the store the next day and bought 2 more bottles. Such a great bourbon!!
Living 20 minutes from New Riff this makes me happy. I’m glad to have something so good nearby. I haven’t done the tour yet, but it’s on the agenda for March.
The most recent New Riff Barrel Proof store pick I picked up was exceptional (Big Red Liquors in Bloomington, Indiana, 4.5 years old, 110.4 proof). I like Rare Breed, but the New Riff I picked up blows it away. I opened it up, tasted it, and left a bottle of Eagle Rare unopened because the New Riff is so good...
I just grabbed a barrel lick of the New Riff… it’s half gone. They are on my radar big time. Supposedly, the rye is even better but wow the SiBa Bourbon is phenomenal.
Enjoyed the episode as usual. I’ve not tried New Riff as I’ve promised the wife no new bottles unless I see a lonely Stag Jr on the shelf somewhere. Lol. Really, as a full-time RV traveler, space is tight. Cheers!
Being a couple of near-minimalists ourselves, we appreciate the tight space constraints and selective purchasing as much as anyone. We're hoping you find your Stagg Jr soon even if the next bottle after that isn't New Riff. It's a good pour! Cheers James!
I love this match-up! I've not gotten to try any New Riff yet, but I feel extremely blessed that I was able to buy a SBBP picked by Rarebird 101 the Smokey pick! I can't wait to crack it open this weekend! Have a great holiday weekend, CHEERS!!
New Riff single barrel was my favorite new bottle from last KY trip. Wish they had more distribution but, understand takes time. Blown away by New Riff but, will always love RB too. Thanks
That's saying something, David! We definitely hope they get more distribution. Being so new, it can't be easy. We need to go look up just where they distribute to. Cheers man!
Can definitely relate to this, my New Riff single barrel bottle has one heck of an amazing nose! Pretty incredible for only 4 year age. Coming from a fellow Rare Breed lover!
I felt lucky after last night so based on this video I picked up a bottle of New Riff Single Barrel today, not getting the same notes you mentioned but it is still really good.
No bloopers??? You guys nailed every shot this time huh 😜 Really enjoy the show. I watch the day you post. Hoping you guys get your hands on a Jack Daniels 10 year. Saw a couple reviews on it and want to know your thoughts
It's definitely a rare occurrence that we don't botch at least one or two things for bloopers, haha! Cheers and thanks for watching Ken! We've got our eyes peeled for the 10 year. ;)
Lived in Springfield for 14 years. Been to New Salem many times. When Erin mentioned she was reminded of the Land of Lincoln, I was afraid she was going compare the nosing notes to Decatur! (Home of ADM and cooked corn). In Illinois, you smell Decatur before you get there!
That's a bummer, but on the bright side you do live in a state that allows shipping. We're out of luck for shipping here in Tennessee from most online retailers. Thanks for watching!
I get a faint rancid tree nut or rancid peanut "funk" on the nose of some bourbons at times although it rarely carries over to the pallet. I'm guessing that may be what Erin is referring to as "stinky feet".
David that's a real bummer! Texas gets shelves full of Weller Special Reserve but no New Riff!? Tragedy of all tragedies. Somebody get New Riff on the line. We've got a bone to pick!
Nice! I just tried the bottled in bond New Riff. Which batch/barrel was this Single Barrel? Hoping I might find one (probably not, but here’s to hoping!)
This one was selected by a private group so it never made it out there into the public. That said, we’ve still been buying the standard single barrels and enjoying them immensely.
@@stuffandwhiskey Good to know, I'll have to try it, thank you! I enjoyed their bottled in bond. Which should I try first...Wild Turkey Rare Breed or New Riff Single Barrel? (Or Four Roses Single Barrel? Lol) Do the other New Riff standard single barrels you've had hold up as well as this exclusive one? My fave so far is Wild Turkey 101, so naturally I'm leaning towards Rare Breed for my first "pricier" bottle here in the next couple weeks, but can't decide. I am new to bourbon and have been immensely enjoying your channel! 😀
Soon as I saw this matchup I thought "ooo, this sounds interesting!" Not one I'd normally think to put together, but for a double-blind it sounds like a fun one. I think Erin should decide more matchups based on this lol
My new riff single barrel is only 101 all reviews I’ve seen are at least 103 more likely over 110 … wonder if that’s why it was on sale. I haven’t popped it open yet though. Got it for 45 tho so can’t complain
Very interesting! Some of the lower proofed barrel proofs from New Riff have been some of our favorites. We like a nice proof kick *but* those low proof barrel proofs bring an interesting element of easy drinkability and complexity to the table.
WHISKEY CHEERS. Josh looking good in black but Erin has you outshined. Also Josh you have to stop the "you do you boo". Your killing my Rick Grimes. 😋😋😋😋
Thanks Jay G! And maybe Ol' Rick is getting hip with the times (which we're pretty sure is something no one says if they're actually doing what the phrase "getting hip with the times" implies)? 😂
We know that's a common sentiment in the whiskey community which is why it's interesting to put New Riff in blinds because blinds don't lie. After multiple blind tastings across various bottles of the barrel proof offering, we can safely say that it does not, in fact, suck. At least to us. And when you're the one drinking the whiskey, that's all that matters. If you'd like to pass on New Riff, that's cool. More for us! Cheers and thanks for watching.
Yessir! For consistency's sake, we're probably in the same boat. But we also like to play single barrel roulette from time to time. This is definitely a "why not have both" situation for us.
I know this is an old video but just bought a New Riff Single Barrel store pick. Had it the first night and was super impressed! Had another glencairn a few nights later. Went back to the store the next day and bought 2 more bottles. Such a great bourbon!!
New Riff does very good work for sure!
This video highlights both the joys and heartbreaks of single barrels. Great job!
I just got a bottle of the new riff single barrel and I probably need to go back to the store and buy it again because my bottle is phenomenal
Living 20 minutes from New Riff this makes me happy. I’m glad to have something so good nearby. I haven’t done the tour yet, but it’s on the agenda for March.
That's awesome April! It's fast become our favorite new distillery. Cheers and thanks for watching!
I just got my first bottle of New Riff single barrel. They are finally available in Texas. Excited to try this tonight

Nice review guys! Good call on shutting down the channel after Erin's New Kids reference. It was a nice run.😉
We're definitely a house divided when it comes to NKOTB, haha! Cheers Patrick!
WOW!! not what I was expecting, but I'll be getting some New Riff SiB BP next time. Always fun to watch, love the show!
That makes three of us that were surprised by this one, Jeff! Cheers and thanks for watching!
13:40 hahahah that was the best “now that I smell the rare breed smell that’s not cool” I’ve been there before! Y’all are awesome.
The mind can play some funny tricks on us, can't it! Cheers JP!

Oh wow, a Turkey pick by Rare Bird himself has gotta be a major winner! Let us know how it is Nate. Cheers and thanks for watching!
@@stuffandwhiskey Sorry for the confusion, it's not a Turkey pick, it was a New Riff pick from Rare Bird.
Another great episode!! Cheers Josh and Erin😊🥃
Thanks Richie! This one was tons of fun and we're glad you enjoyed. Cheers!
I just picked up a SB BP new riff and also their straight rye. Both absolutely exceptional. A huge pleasant surprise.
My bottle of New Riff sb would definitely stand up to Rare Breed. It is a great bottle of whiskey.
New Riff single barrel was my favorite new bottle from last KY trip. Wish they had more distribution but, understand takes time. Blown away by New Riff but, will always love RB too. Thanks

Cheers to that pines33d! We've still yet to have a bottle of New Riff let us down.
Big Rare Breed fan, will have to try and find a bottle of the New Riff and give it a try. Thanks for the blind!
Cheers to that Tim! These two may be some of the best value going in bourbon right now. Thanks for watching!
I felt lucky after last night so based on this video I picked up a bottle of New Riff Single Barrel today, not getting the same notes you mentioned but it is still really good.
Ah, good old single barrel variance! Your comment actually gives us a great idea for a video Jim. ;) Cheers!
Deep inside, she was holding back laughing at his “long and strong” comment 😂. I quite like the example of the New Riff BP SiB I have.
Haha, good catch Jose. Cheers!
I love this matchup because you guys seem to really like both a lot! Watching now…
Some of the most fun we've ever had on a head-to-head for sure. Glad that shows through. Cheers and thanks for watching Johnathan!
No New Riff in Georgia, but I'm planning a trip to Nashville this month. Really hope they have it.
There will definitely be some single barrels around town that won't be too hard to find if you stop into a few shops.
New Riff is finally in Georgia. Just grabbed a bottle today 😎🥃
Such a FUN blind tasting! Thank you for sharing this content on our Bourbon Life "Under $60" Facebook community.
Thanks so much Mike! Cheers buddy and thanks for hosting the positive community there!

I have both right now, and both are auto-replace bottles.
You had me at stinky feet. Quickly becoming one of my favorite whiskey channels. Great stuff (and whiskey).
Haha, thanks so much Paul! That's a huge compliment. We appreciate the kind words and are glad you're enjoying! Cheers!
For my pallet, new riff is more my thing. Rb is the more balanced whiskey. New riff has a soapy note, but I still really like it.
Brush your teeth
With New Riff in your glass and love in your heart, it can be summer Christmas all year ‘round.
We couldn’t agree more!
The new Riff single barrel that I have has a long and spicy finish. Good stuff for sure.👍 Another good one is widow Jane 10 year.🥃👍
We need to get our hands on some Widow Jane. Great callout!
Eye popping review 😮!!

I have been there and I completely agree with the Decatur IL musty smell comment.
That's so cool Dennis! We love New Salem. It's an annual stop during Cousin's Camp. Decatur, however, is not. Haha! Cheers!
Sadly no New Riff available here in northern IL. Have to buy it online if I want it.
That's a bummer, but on the bright side you do live in a state that allows shipping. We're out of luck for shipping here in Tennessee from most online retailers. Thanks for watching!
What barrel is it? Sorry if I missed it. Mine is great just wanted to see if it was the same
It was a private pick from a group that a friend is part of. ICR.
I get a faint rancid tree nut or rancid peanut "funk" on the nose of some bourbons at times although it rarely carries over to the pallet. I'm guessing that may be what Erin is referring to as "stinky feet".
We've actually been trying to pin down what it is and this is a great suggestion! The next time that note pops up we'll keep that in mind. Thanks man!
Thanks! Another good blind comparison. No I really have to keep a watch out for New Riff Single Barrel Barrel Proof.
New Riff is unavailable in Texas 🙁
It's definitely worth trying! Cheers Timm!
David that's a real bummer! Texas gets shelves full of Weller Special Reserve but no New Riff!? Tragedy of all tragedies. Somebody get New Riff on the line. We've got a bone to pick!
@@stuffandwhiskey Wish it was that simple. LOL

I like new riff over Blantons. Proof and price point much better in my opinion

No contest, New Riff single barrel is better! 👍🏻

I paused 26 seconds into the video and I think the new riff for the win
Cheers and thanks for watching Top Dog!
Just skip to the 9 minute mark and catch the funniest part of this video!
She's still sorry for me. 😂
👍👍👍
You know we like our thumbs around here, haha. Thanks D S! Cheers!
@@stuffandwhiskey Would have given you guys five but the rating scale was maxed out at 3. Lol.. Love your vids!

New Riff sucks!
Ok

Both of these are hitters for the price honestly. Ill always lean rare breed tho.
