I saw these guys live in March last year and this song was one of the 2 songs they did for an encore and I can tell you now it was INSANE. Everyone in the crowd singing along to such a brutal song and having the best time of their lives while the band sounded *incredible* it was my first ever concert and they really didnt disappoint me, they did set an unbelievably high expectation for me though😂
I prevail is such an underrated band man after their Taylor swift cover exploded they deserved so much more attention they have a ton of awesome songs from a few of their albums
4,5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, 2019 Grammy double nomination and being one of the top 2010+ rock bands makes them underrated? Hell no, they are great but surely not underrated
When I hear metalcore I don’t think of I prevail I think more of like A day to remember, Bring me the Horizon, We came as Romans, Escape the Fate, Silverstein, The Amity Affliction, Beartooth, it’s most likely because those were the popular bands when I was in highschool. I Prevail didn’t come on scene until few years later and didn’t seem to blow up as much as like A day to Remember.

Ive seen em live, own all albums on cd (and i may have even bought a grinder on their website way back when 😉) I personally think these guys have always been a great band, the quality of their sound has majorly improved since thw start, and you can hear the growth from heart vs mind all the way to true power. Personally, i love deep end and just the whole true power album. I dont think you can really find a miss with these guys
I Prevail, very much like Linkin Park, was told that they would never make it. Change your sound, drop certain members, do what we tell you. They made it. So they have songs that are basically a giant F YOU to everyone who said they wouldn't make it. Love I Prevail!

DOWN!*" I was like OOOH GIRL YOU'RE IN FOR A SURPRISE 😁 Aaand your puzzled expression at 6:42 followed by your faces from 7:33 didn't disapoint 😂 This drop after the calm build up is one of the best ever imo and experiencing it live, possibily with a wall of death, is litterally a life goal 😅

I think you're mostly right with your interpretation of the lyrics although I have always thought it was more just a general statement rather than purely being about what they've been through personally. Like how certain media industries try to control every aspect of the creators, from restricting their creative freedom because it "doesn't make the industries as much money" to the full on lifestyles/image of the creators being micromanaged. Artists of all kinds are often forced to purely follow the trends and not put out work that actually speaks to them. It is just about "ticking boxes" in what supposedly works and what doesn't, exactly as the video is presenting it. Also I wouldn't be surprised if there's also an element of hitting back at society in general, especially with music. Like the way that both Bring Me The Horizon and Architects have hit back at fake "fans" that will attack artists for not making the music that THEY want the bands to make.

I might be speaking out of my ass here but I'm pretty sure that they had a agency (label) contact them but however they tried to force them into a specific style, attitude etc which also ended up into someone getting even more depressed than he already had. Pretty sure that's what it was all about, could be wrong though. Either way: For anyone who is trying to make it, DON'T let any agency, label or whatever the fuck change you please, it's more important to follow your thing than bowing down to some bigger company.
