    I first read (and fell in love with) this when it was published in 2009 and decided to refresh myself on it in anticipation of RED SIDE STORY coming out next year. This book is kind of like THE GIVER in tone in that it shows a functioning society that thinks it's a utopia when really... One teeny tiny spoiler.

    That’s one of the things that confused me reading. Was that they could see other people’s colored dots and other colors even though they can only perceive a certain color.

      My understanding was that they could only perceive certain *natural* colors but artificial colors were visible to everyone. Which is why pigment was so expensive and a mark of wealth.

      @@mplbooks I wish that part of it was explained more. The tech of it because I THINK he mentions some kind of tech but it was mentioned maybe once or twice vaguely. Maybe in the sequel he'll explain it. I'm listening to the Audio book.
