Hi Jonathan! Actually I chose the Magnaflow due to the sound clips I heard online from other owners. Super Sprint exhaust is what I would have preferred to go with but getting that exhaust brought over to the states was price and a long wait. I took my Z3 to a place that does custom work and said I was interested in a magnaflow. The owner/head tech did some measurements and suggested the muffler number and tip (single tip to keep the aesthetic)/recommended a resonator delete and fabricated a single piece of pipe to go between the Cat and muffler. All at much less of a price than the Super Sprint exhaust costs without labor.
@@MrRocDoc1 Thanks so much for the reply. That is perfect. My resonator rattles when cold so I've needed to do something to the exhaust system. I never was satisfied with the stock sound. I'm not sure why BMW didn't design a better sounding exhaust for this roadster.
Thanks again. Got mine installed yesterday and love it. Here's a video of it: ruclips.net/video/RB593S8owbw/видео.html The sound is not as metallic or raspy sounding in the cockpit.
Excellent video. How are you doing with the exhaust now? I would suspect that the ride inside of the car is louder with the Magnaflow -- is that the case? I have a '97 1.9 Z3 with stock exhaust and am considering upgrading like you have done. But I also enjoy listening to music, so thinking on it. Thank you.
one is coming up on auction on copart. really thining of picking up the 1.9, going to use it only to drift. i think 138hp is enough lol sounds good bro!
Honestly I was worried it’d be too slow but the 1.9 is pretty fucking fun. I picked one up for $800 and I love it. It’s a lil go kart that loves to rev
What size is the magnaflow and the tips size?
The muffler is 4x9x14 with inlet/outlet of 2.25/2.25in. The tip is also 2.25in.
how did you find the exhaust? I can't find any good exhaust systems for the 1.9

Thanks for posting. That sounds great!!! I have the same car with stock muffler. Did you keep the resonator?
Thanks for the comment! Actually I deleted the resonator. It’s just a custom bent pipe from the Cat back to the muffler.

@@philsmith888 yeah man!!! Sounds great!!! Love the look of your Z!!! Glad you’re happy with it!
@@philsmith888 Mine has that metallic sound also when the exhaust is cold. After a few minutes that metallic sound goes away. Is yours the same?

Well of course if it is louder outside the car it will be louder inside. Sheesh.

Thanks! The car is a blast to drive. Nothing like getting out for a scoot in a Z3. Hope it works out! Keep me informed!

As a 1.9 owner, I too encourage you to go for the 3.0 or 3.2.
Ditch it and get a 3.0i. You know you should.
nope. get the 3.2
Lol hell no
Doesn’t need the extra weight in the front axle for less than 100 hp. Get a 3 or 5 series of you want straight line speed
Saying it like it's not even possible that budget could be the reason for a 1.9
