- The three ANA A380s will be painted in a special livery depicting sea turtles which are native to Hawaii. The first aircraft is blue, the second will be green and the third orange. The ANA A380 livery is one of the most elaborate ever painted by Airbus. It took 21 days for the Airbus team to paint a surface of 3,600m2 using 16 different shades of color. ANA A380's inaugural flight is in 2019/05/24(Estimated). The route is between Tokyo(NRT Narita) and Honolulu(Hawaii) 3 flights per week, according to ANA announcement officially. The aircraft's nickname is FLYING HONU. I'm waiting the first flight between Tokyo and Honolulu. Thank you very much for the good job of Airbus. This message from Japan.

They only bought 3 of them and have no intention to buy more. You can say they're smart or cautious at least.

@@TheSyd19 from what I can remember, wasn’t ANA somewhat dragged into it after Sky-mark went bust and the A380 lost their destinations.

forget the intricacy of the paintjob itself, Airbus's attention to detail in touching up the entire plane with small paintbrushes is something otherworldly. any company could have said eh its fine nobody will notice that small imperfection. And most customers may not have minded such a small error on an overall huge aircraft. But Airbus wanted to get it right and get it perfect the first time. THAT is something amazing and worth noticing.

The A380 is dead indeed, Virgin Atlantic cancelled its whole order, Qantas postponed indefinitely 8 that were due to be delivered and Emirates presented huge loses the last fiscal year.

Maybe u should use "litres" not "kilograms". Anyway i heard they used about 3660 litres of paints to made this majestic ANA

I remember reading that the paint adds significantly to the total weight of aircraft. Wouldn’t it be more smart for airliners to forego the livery and adopt a minimal design?

Hey I have a question..Why do the livery people need so much paper and paint so many times when they can just clean the aircraft and paint it directly I mean I get they want perfection but how is this required?
