I love it! One of my favorites! My mom, now 91, sometimes spends most of some days in her robe. This is so much more fun and happy than the old blue one she’s worn for years and years.
It’s light blue… maybe I can use it as the base and then dye the whole thing maybe a sea foam green?
Hmmm. Now to collect some large scale floral prints. She has some sheets well past their “use by” date. I may already have everything I need to do this.
And I could make her some matching lounge pants out of the sheets!
You are such an inspiration! ❤

One tip, since this is for your mom. The lace around the collar can be itchy unless it's super soft. Maybe move the lace lower (if you even plan to use lace) so it doesn't touch her neck.🤗💞💞💞💞

    • @jcristi321
      @jcristi321 Год назад

@@tmyershandmade978 good thing to remember. I know I fussed about lace collars a lot when I was a kid!
I just got a floral sheet with two tiers of ruffles and lace around the edges. Looks like a Gunne Sax dress! 🤣Thought it would be perfect, but realize my mom doesn’t wear a lot of ruffles. So I’ll ruffle all the edges for me, and create a flat trim or maybe some soft pleats on hers. Cotton fabric against her neck and throat with any lace several inches away.
      Thank for the feedback!

I love that first floral print you used. You make such pretty clothing.
You can burn test fabric for fiber content. Synthetics like polyester make hard plastic beads when burned. You can look it up online because the color of the flame and the type of ash tells you quite a lot. I buy a lot of 2nd hand fabric.
One of my favorite weird facts is that silk will dissolve in bleach, so if you think something is silk you can cut a little piece and put it in bleach overnight, if it's a blend the silk dissolves and leaves the other fibers behind!

Hi Traci. Ive made one of these beautiful dusters and had so many compliments. Im in the process of making a second one for a friend. I had a little problem getting patches sewn to the top of the sleeves on mine. I just had a light bulb moment. If the garment is opened all the way up the side seam and thru the sleeve, it will make things so much easier to sew. No more pushing great bunches of fabric around the sewing machine! Then just sew straight down when its finished.
Love your tutorials. Ive made a few of your other designs. After ive finished this im going to do some jeans! ❤❤

Thanks for another gorgeous tutorial! Ive got the materials to make this jacket, a great Winter project worth every hour it takes. I like the button and loop closure that during the close up view shows it goes on the right side of the front opening. Perfect. FYI ladieswear closes right over left. Of course that sometimes goes out the window when restyling a mens jacket or shirt... which I do often. I love your anything-goes styling! Lavoie Boho NC USA 2023

Sometimes, for button closures, I use covered elastic ponytail holders. You can color coordinate them and are confident they won't pull out from the stitching holding it on.

Dear Tracey, I have SO enjoyed my journey so far through your tutorials. I’ve had to go back to the beginning and re start there. Could I just ask a quick question? Would you use elastic on the top hem of the pocket and the ribbon on the bottom? This would give the pocket much more ease of use. I just adored this Duster. I aim to make a blue version, and if anyone asks, I’ll tell them ALL about your tutorials!😊

Your duster looks beautiful on you. It does look heavy. It's one of a kind.
You could use the "Burn Test" on a small scrap cut from the mystery fabric. A match (or candle) can be used for the burn test. If the fabric burns it is a natural fiber. If it melts it is not natural. However, I just feel the fabric (if it sticks to me, the fibers are not natural).
When we still lived on a farm, we always used a large egg basket (also called a butt, or buttock, basket) to collect our eggs in. You can set the basket down, if you have to run; but, you can't run in an apron with eggs in it. What was I running from? A mean rooster.

I've had screen printed t-shirts with birds on them before. You might try the t-shirt sections. They might not make it to the donation pile or clerance rack though. For some reason adds for special irons just for t-shirt decals wind up in my feed. I do like to watch tie dye videos but I don't decorate t-shirts. I did do an applique to hide a monogram though.

Thank you, the video were I made those, was taken down. They were white bibs dyed pink and I just made shapes out of thrifted clothing and sewed them on.🤗💕💕💕

Could you send me the video privately? If it’s for myself then “they” can’t send an attorney to come get me, right?
