I love it! One of my favorites! My mom, now 91, sometimes spends most of some days in her robe. This is so much more fun and happy than the old blue one she’s worn for years and years. It’s light blue… maybe I can use it as the base and then dye the whole thing maybe a sea foam green? Hmmm. Now to collect some large scale floral prints. She has some sheets well past their “use by” date. I may already have everything I need to do this. And I could make her some matching lounge pants out of the sheets! You are such an inspiration! ❤ Jan
@jcristi321 😊 My mom is 90 and I have a similar desire. I think our Mom's would love something personally created for them. Thank you soo much Traci for your time in teaching us endless possibilities. Now .. for the courage to try and keep on until the fitting at the end.
One tip, since this is for your mom. The lace around the collar can be itchy unless it's super soft. Maybe move the lace lower (if you even plan to use lace) so it doesn't touch her neck.🤗💞💞💞💞
@@tmyershandmade978 good thing to remember. I know I fussed about lace collars a lot when I was a kid! I just got a floral sheet with two tiers of ruffles and lace around the edges. Looks like a Gunne Sax dress! 🤣Thought it would be perfect, but realize my mom doesn’t wear a lot of ruffles. So I’ll ruffle all the edges for me, and create a flat trim or maybe some soft pleats on hers. Cotton fabric against her neck and throat with any lace several inches away. Thank for the feedback!
I love that first floral print you used. You make such pretty clothing. You can burn test fabric for fiber content. Synthetics like polyester make hard plastic beads when burned. You can look it up online because the color of the flame and the type of ash tells you quite a lot. I buy a lot of 2nd hand fabric. One of my favorite weird facts is that silk will dissolve in bleach, so if you think something is silk you can cut a little piece and put it in bleach overnight, if it's a blend the silk dissolves and leaves the other fibers behind!
Oh my goodness I LOVE this so much !! Beautiful, comfy looking, adore the flowers !!! I just want to say again what a gift you have been to ALL of us !! I have never met anyone who so completely gives me the confidence to try new things and bring my dreams to Life. You were born to be a teacher and you are as adorable as your designs !! I hope you keep going for years to come !!!!! ( I know I use too many exclamation points but its the only way to get my feelings across !!! ) ROFL !! 😄🥰😂🤣💜❤💜❤
Hi Traci. Ive made one of these beautiful dusters and had so many compliments. Im in the process of making a second one for a friend. I had a little problem getting patches sewn to the top of the sleeves on mine. I just had a light bulb moment. If the garment is opened all the way up the side seam and thru the sleeve, it will make things so much easier to sew. No more pushing great bunches of fabric around the sewing machine! Then just sew straight down when its finished. Love your tutorials. Ive made a few of your other designs. After ive finished this im going to do some jeans! ❤❤
Omgoodness!, Only this morning I bought 5 metres of floral velvet on Vinted (for a bargain) & didn’t have a clue what to do with it (I just fell in love with its design, the darkest green with golds…I know now!! 😉 Thank you Tracey I have never made clothes (not confident) I can’t wait for it to arrive. love your style & a pleasure to watch tutorials ♥
Thanks for another gorgeous tutorial! Ive got the materials to make this jacket, a great Winter project worth every hour it takes. I like the button and loop closure that during the close up view shows it goes on the right side of the front opening. Perfect. FYI ladieswear closes right over left. Of course that sometimes goes out the window when restyling a mens jacket or shirt... which I do often. I love your anything-goes styling! Lavoie Boho NC USA 2023
Those pockets! Thank you for the tutorial on what are sure to be, my favorite pockets! The sleeve rollbacks are something I would not have thought to add and so necessary. Thank you once again for the time, energy and thought that go into the inspirational videos.
Ty Traci..you’re the best. My husband surprised me with a new very expensive sewing machine(Elna) that I’ve been very busy sewing along with your beautiful creations. I ave received quite a bit of compliments in the grocery store and in the thrift stores. Blessings from NC.
This turned out amazing! I enjoy watching your videos, you show all the steps and make it look so simple. You are such an inspiration to me. Thank you!
OMG! OMG! OMG! Thank you thank you Traci for doing this video! My chickens 🐔 will love my apron when I'm done, for sure! They peck at my bowl when I take it out there. I think they see the eggs and want them back, so now they won't see them! I really love all the great curtains and sheets and fabric you upcycle and re-purpose. My mom left my A LOT of fabric (andy brother is gifting my his old flannels too). I can't wait to put it all to good use! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
And, I have a bathrobe I'm tired of looking at and I want to do a dress to go under it! The blue overalls are great, but the pink ones ARE TO DIE FOR!!!💖💖💖
What kind of black magic are you practicing?! 😂 I’m always amazed at how the end is so unexpected from the beginning of the eclectic floral patterns you start with. But seriously this and the mag pearl jeans tutorial - I definitely need to do!
Sometimes, for button closures, I use covered elastic ponytail holders. You can color coordinate them and are confident they won't pull out from the stitching holding it on.
Beautiful work as always. My plumber husband would say run cold water while you pour boiling hot water down the drain so you don't risk melting your pipes or wearing them down. 😊❤❤❤
Dear Tracey, I have SO enjoyed my journey so far through your tutorials. I’ve had to go back to the beginning and re start there. Could I just ask a quick question? Would you use elastic on the top hem of the pocket and the ribbon on the bottom? This would give the pocket much more ease of use. I just adored this Duster. I aim to make a blue version, and if anyone asks, I’ll tell them ALL about your tutorials!😊
Obsessed with this duster, I’m so making this. Tracy it turned out beautifully. And I’m in the process of making the dress you made underneath. Love it all!
Dude, I cannot wait to make this. You are helping so many of us try stuff that's been in my head but not outside of me. I want to make that dress and that skirt. I can't wait. Thank you for sharing.
Your duster looks beautiful on you. It does look heavy. It's one of a kind. You could use the "Burn Test" on a small scrap cut from the mystery fabric. A match (or candle) can be used for the burn test. If the fabric burns it is a natural fiber. If it melts it is not natural. However, I just feel the fabric (if it sticks to me, the fibers are not natural). When we still lived on a farm, we always used a large egg basket (also called a butt, or buttock, basket) to collect our eggs in. You can set the basket down, if you have to run; but, you can't run in an apron with eggs in it. What was I running from? A mean rooster.
So true..Ive ran from one too but tripped and he got the best f me. I was fifteen yo and he had spurs. Ive been terrified of Roosters since. Not a friend to me. Ty for sharing.
Your duster is beautiful! I'm so happy when I see your creations, and sure they are a joy to wear. The pocket tops gathered on the ribbon are just perfect.

I love this duster. The big pockets are amazing! What is the cute thing you have in your hair that matches the dress. Do you have a video for that? My husband tells me Im addicted to your videos. 😁💕
Awww I love that! The thing in my hair is just a fabric flower sewn to strips of bed sheet and dyed with the dress lol. I do have a fabric flower making video💖💖💖💖
Thank you so much Traci for another fabulous tutorial!!! I’ve learnt so much from you and really appreciate the time and effort you put into the content - no easy task, I’m sure. Glad you’re surgery went well - kind regards 🤗
You have once again created a beauty, I have done a few of you projects myself even dyed one jacket with food colouring as couldn't find the right shade in dye, turned out great..thanks for your inspiration xx❤
I just came across your videos and I love them. You are so talented and I love that shabby look in clothing!! I will be watching your videos for sure!!🤗
Thanks Traci. It's lovely! A pity we can't get the beautiful pillow covers here in Australia without paying exorbitant postage charges. 😔 I've watched all of your RUclips tutorials and have been very inspired! 🙋🏼♀️🇦🇺
I've had screen printed t-shirts with birds on them before. You might try the t-shirt sections. They might not make it to the donation pile or clerance rack though. For some reason adds for special irons just for t-shirt decals wind up in my feed. I do like to watch tie dye videos but I don't decorate t-shirts. I did do an applique to hide a monogram though.
Thank you, the video were I made those, was taken down. They were white bibs dyed pink and I just made shapes out of thrifted clothing and sewed them on.🤗💕💕💕
You are so fierce and fearless! You are such an inspiration and I’m thankful you’re sharing your art and skills with us. ❤🌻 - Kathy
