This video was a lifesaver. Was having so many problems transferring WhatsApp to new phone but after seeing your video I finally realised what the solution was. I hadn’t realised my old phone would get a verification code with a SIM. And I was getting complete confused because the new phone kept saying back up not found despite the backup showing on Drive. WhatsApp tech support were no help. Wouldn’t even let me send a direct message. Can’t thank you enough for this lifesaver demonstration. God bless.
Thank you so much for making it so easy. Someone had transferred my whatsapp to the new phone without making sure it was backed up. I thought I had lost everything, went and put the sim in the old phone and luckily I had not deleted whatsapp off that phone yet. I backed it up and then followed your video and praise be it is all there on the new phone.
its very important to say that you must complete the backup of the old phone before attempting to initiate whatsapp on the new phone. otherwise the backup stops and the new phone only gets part of the old phone and then you start a ping pong between the two trying to start over. a real mess!
Oh my god this was a complete saver. I thought I had lost ALL my messages I had so many important files and contacts and you completely saved me. If there was any way I could send you a pint of beer or the price of a beer please let me know. Brilliant video thank you!
You are a life saver pal. Every other video and web article offered a different process and that process didn't work. Yours did however, thank god, thought I'd lost my chats, thank you!
For those who can't find the option to restore chat after they have already logged in, log back into the old phone, delete whatsapp on the new phone, install it again on the new phone and try logging in on the new phone, but this time around make sure to press 'restore' while setting it up because whatsapp might not let you restore it once you have set it up.
So just to confirm...I take the sim out of my new phone that has WhatsApp installed (but without my previous history) and Uninstall WhatsApp. I put the sim back into my original phone and launch WhatsApp (which previously was telling me that I'd logged out. I perform the back up sequence as described. I then take my sim out of the old phone and put it back into the new phone and install/ launch WhatsApp. I then should be prompted to restore from backup during set up. A code will be sent to my old phone that no longer has the sim. Do I have this right?
I really cannot thank you enough really, i had 7 gb of backed up chats and media and i was so scared of loosing them. everything is backing up now. Thank you so much note: guys do not allow end to end encryption because it will cause an error
I can swear I did all these steps and it just didn't work. Clearly that wasn't the case as I followed your vid and it worked perfectly. Thank you so much!
This is worked for me thank you so much for the tutorial!! Note: Before backing up all my media things in whatsapp including the chat, I log in the same email I used to back up my media in whatsapp previously in my new phone. I also don't remove the sim card to my new phone when i want to back up my media, but it is still working.
Thank you for posting this video. I followed your instructions and worked great from a Motorola g9 to Motorola g54. The only step that was different was the old moto g9 didn't need to send a verification code. With the moto g54 Whatsapp did a phone call verification. I just watched and followed Whatsapp install instructions. Just a FYI it took approximately 35mins to back up 3.87gb of Whatsapp data & videos. And approximately 1hr to restore 5gb of data & videos on the moto g54. I don't know why the restore was 5gb instead of the backup 3.87gb. Once again thank you so much for posting a great step by step instruction video, it is greatly appreciated👍😄
This is THE best video online dealing with this very subject/problem. No flattery, just a fact! If you could figure out (even as a complicated walk-around) and make a video about how to merge backups or data bases from different phones, it would be a fantastic thing, and would bring you many views and some money, because nobody seems to know how to do that in a relatively easy easy, without being a pro. I mean the scenario: You use one phone during long time. Then you take out the SIM with the same phone number and everything, put it into an other phone and start using it without transferring the chats and media from the first phone. So now a new set of database fikes is being created. You realise then you want to have all the chat history, with the pictures and videos together with the new ones in the new phone, merged date and content wise, but there no official way to do that.
This is smiple video. I have viewed other videoes and nothing can compare to this video. I followed the instructions and i got it on the first try. I will differentiately recommend to everyone.
Clear and concise, very well done sir. Only issue I have is at 4:48, where is the restore button ?, it seems it automatically goes into restore if your battery is full, so you have no option to say no, also what is the min battery level for this to be able to work. Second thoughts from 4:48 i'm totally confused.
Great video, though I wasn't sure if the phones had to be switched off to swap SIM card. I switched them off and had no problems. I did have a problem at the backup stage because I had the Frequency set to Never. It took me a while to realise that I had to go into the Frequency dropdown to select "Only when I press backup". Thank you for taking the time to make this video, the Whatsapp help is pretty useless.
I cannot manage to restore my backup. When I open WhatsApp on my new phone, it doesn't detect any backup on any of my accounts, when I can clearly see on my old phone that the backup is correctly uploaded to that account. I have also tried another method using a qr code, but it never shows up. Any suggestions?
Hello I have followed all your great and clear instructions. BUT when I go to my new phone it only wants to UPLOAD.. I have tried multiple times but can't get it to start any "download process" when clicking on BACKUP. I do have a google account linked and did back up from my old phone. Thank you
VERY VERY NICE AND HELPFULL VIDEO. MY WHOLE DAYS PASSED LOOKING DIFFERENT DIFFERENT VIDEOS ON WHATSAP CHAT TRANSFER. I HAVE TO TRANSFER WHATSAP CHATS FROM A LOWER VERSION TO UPPER VERSION PHONE. FINALLY YOUR TEACHING HELPED ME A LOT. THANKS
Yeaa, it very fast way for who got new phone. GDrive backup is an emergency option. Let's say your phone is damaged or stolen, this transfer chat features not worked.
As an added comment , is it important the sim card must go into the new phone ??. only after back up has been done with sim card in old phone ? so if do not put sim card into new phone , the restore on new phone will not work ???
If you change service provider and have a new sim is this process affected? Lost everything and only thing I done differently was not use same sim in new phone I just put the new sim in straight away
Does the "Back up using cellular" switch have to be on, or is it enough to just have the SIM card in its slot but then do the backup from the old phone using wifi?
Does Whatsapp backup also back up profile picture, wallpaper etc in addition to the chat backup? Does the wallpaper, profile picture and other settings also get restored then to the new phone?
Thanks for providing this video however, I do not get a prompt on my old phone asking for a code, and after I click "restore", it prompts for a password.
Wish this worked for me. Ive tried so many times the QR code method now with no joy. Hoped this method might work. URGGGHHHH Thanks for the content though
I didn't see your tutorial until after I removed the SIM card from my old phone, and then WhatsApp locked me out of my messages on my old android. Is there anything I can do to reopen my whatsapp on my old android and then backup my messages, then follow your tutorial and retrieve my messages from my old phone?. Thank you
what if i dont have the option of the google drive back ion your video also do have the option to add my email address? The back is requesting for me to enter my email address however when i do NOW it says "enter a valid email or phone number🤨 before it said " this account already exsists on your device" please help

I wonder why WhatsApp doesn't do like Discord and store everything on a cloud.

Crystal clear is right. Thank you! 🙏 This is a great tutorial and the only one I've seen that explains everything step by step.
Excellent ...thank you very much. Found various tech support help articles very confusing. Whatsapp should pay you for the video.
WhatsApp should be making it much simpler to transfer at any time in the first place and not just when setting up a new phone
This is a good tutorial. Tqvm.❤
