These Irish podcast are so hilarious and absolutely entertaining. I'm so glad I came across them a couple weeks back. Comedy hour at its best. Did anyone see the one where the guy produced graphs and stats? Pure comedy genius! They're basically 'cut and paste' of each other, but with different sad, miserable, self righteous and condescending Presenters. All trying to find more silver linings and different areas where the Irish team were hard done by, a week after the horse had bolted. Talk about glutton for punishment. The pain and hurt in their faces and anger in their voice...compulsory viewing.
Confidence is one thing, but the arrogance and entitlement shown from the Irish media and rugby public pre-tournament and quarters, it's next level. That's probably why so many Kiwi's and Saffa's are commenting on these Irish podcast, righting some wrongs. Not sure where the Irish supporters are, probably getting ready for the URC or watching the other 50 million sports that are more popular than rugby and have a bigger following.
Dismissing the Southern Hemisphere Rugby Superpowers pre-tournament as if they were inconsequential, dads army and second rate pretenders...we weren't having that.
I look forward to more content. Our teams have a semi-final to play, hopefully we can get through them and go to the big dance, but if we don't, then thats life.
    Future trivia question:
    Q. Which former Irish rugby team member, progressed past the quarter final?
    A. Joe Scheimdt.

There is a lot of criticism against Matt Williams here. I am afraid I am going to pile in but will try to explain why I think he talks nonsense all the time not sure why they keep bringing him back when you have the likes of Andy Dunn and others.
    1. AFTER Leinster lost to LA Rochelle in 2002. Williams writes that they were very lucky to win. Lo and behold they lose again in 2023 and Rog said something about disrespect from Leinster can't blame him
    2. Mark before the world cup. South African players will not perform in the world cup because they haven't rested as they played super rugby and went straight to France and top14 rugby. Boks haven't won the title and may not win but the players don't strike me as run down.
    3. After Boks lost to the ABs in the championship. Williams again, The Boks game is not good enough and when the Boks come up against the Big boys their game plan hits the wall. Boks have subsequently beaten France and ABs after that match. Maybe he does not consider these two big boys in the rugby world.
I know this is punditry, but can we really take him serious as a pundit?

Agree, referees need to get it right, but to call a different result on the basis of one mistake that you picked up is a gross simplification of a complex set of factors and possible outcomes. Or are you suggesting that you have counted every ref mistake, on each side, with complete insight in what would have happened or flowed from there onwards and then, in that magnificent rugby brain of yours can compute a conclusion that the result should have been different? Matt, please share either your algorithm or the stuff you smoke so that us mortals can follow your arguments.

Why is it that Matt Williams goes on a lengthy diatribe on justice having not been served because of one particular incident ( hand on the ground at a ruck). There were many injustices on both sides not just one. As he has suggested the ref did a fantastic job in a very difficult game - if we rely on technology to knit pick every issue we will never get a game out of first gear let alone second. Matt needs to take off his selective vision glasses and start having a balanced view of things. The Springboks were unjustifiably denied a penalty when Faf threw a pass into a French forward who was directly inline with Pollard. Just to clarify - a hand on the ground does not mean an automatic penalty to the opposition so long as you are not using that hand to reach beyond the ball and scoop it up or support your body weight. The referee deemed the player as not using his hand placement beside the ball as doing either of those. However, television evidence shows Pollard directly inline with the French player who was obstructing the pass from Faf to Pollard, so that was the true injustice... But you would find many more serving both sides to a similar extent... so again why harp on one over the countless others Matt??

Ireland - may have been deluded by the media and fan hype and forgot who they were playing; the ABS 'gave' them the style that won them the silverware in their cupboard! NZ / Aus have been playing that style from 2008!
The only way to beat us is to surprise us with something we don't expect! We don't expect to play against ourselves...and the series in NZ taught us that! Everything changed after that!!! Kudos to Ireland for that! It made us stop and review our game to change... to have the ability to beat our own Attack and Defense. That's why we lost several games...trying new things and BLOODING new players at the same time! Very difficult and Win always expected! But we were Tweaking the style we play!
What Ireland has to do is to IMPROVE the style every game they play to have several styles available. Most thought it was the 'same' ABs they met last time.....there's the result.
That game took effort to win, but it did not bust the ABs (Matt's wrong AGAIN) It was because Ireland game to our house and smacked us!
Good to see Ireland / Wales playing exciting rugby (NZ influence / Coaching) France always play with emotion and sometimes cost them dearly. WE need more games like those for the sport....especially with the Americas and European teams coming through.
Chin up Ireland> Regroup and Grow your game!! You have 4-years to Learn or Not! Personally, I think you may have been lucky the ABs paid you too much respect!

It's bullshit to say the loss was by the width of Jordie Barrett's hand. The Kelleher try stop was at 70 minutes. If converted, then Ireland would go ahead 3pts with 7 minutes to go. Enough time for the ABs to snatch victory.
As for the 2 cross kicks, both were well covered by cover defenders.
As for scrum penalties, if Porter is told by the ref to adjust and refuses to, then don't cry when the ref penalizes him again. And again. And again.
As for line-outs, Ireland is called for this all the time by refs. It's happened in other test matches. And they still need to be told.
