Thanks Leah .. Im very interested in giving this painting ago.. but will definitely make up a swatch of colors first ..enjoy your day .. and of course happy quilting..:)
No, this paint is very thick and not runny so it will not bleed through to the back. Another option is shiva paintstiks, which are even drier than Jacquard paints and will definitely stay on the surface.
Yes, the paint will make the fabric more stiff. In the next video, I'm going to teach quilting back over the painted area so you can see how that works. Understand that this is an art quilting technique and not something I would use on a bed quilt.
Hi B - I just watched the video all the way through. I think what probably happened is it didn't load for you all the way. Hit play, then pause and the video will load (white bar fills up), then click play to watch it all the way through. I've checked it on two computers and it's working fine on my end so I think this is something appearing only for you.
Hi Leah love the idea of adding paint to your quilted project . What fabric are you using , also the backing fabric.i would be afraid of the paint coming through to the back. Do you find this happening .
For quilts like this one that hang on a wall, I soak in lukewarm water in my bathtub, then block it back into shape to dry - spread out on a table and pinned flat, then dried with fans on two sides. For bed quilts and throws - I throw them in the washer like my clothes with normal detergent and dry in the dryer.
@@LeahDay Wow thank you for your prompt reply in this situation. I appreciate your input as you have put my mind at ease. thank you so much. Blessing to you and your family at this time.
Hi Leah, I just love your tutorials and I am really busy in catching up with your video. Today I've reached this video and unfortunately its not complete any longer. So as a result I do not know now how to put colour on the quilt. Its not important for me personally, but I thought maybe you dont know that the video has a defect and I wanted to let you know. kindest bjmonitas
I'm doing a quilt for a teacher and I am wanting to have the children do their hand prints. BUT I need to know what kind of paint do I need to get. I'm wanting to make sure that the paint doesn't come out of the quilt after washing. Btw...I am looking for paint and products that can be found at a regular craft store or Walmart. Can you help? Thanks in advance!
Great question! Any type of acrylic paint found in the Walmart craft section should work. The acrylic will bond permanently with the fabric and not wash out. It will feel a bit stiff if the paint gets really thick, but I always feel like that's an acceptable trade off for permanent paint that's still easy to wash off hands. Just remember to protect the kids clothes because it won't wash out of their shirts or shorts if the get it on them!
I so enjoy your videos. I feel grateful to have access to them. Thank you so much for your inspiration! Becky from Ohio
Wonderful Becca! I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos!

Brave to paint over the quilt. You made me nervous I thought the brush was going to roll off. Looks great. Are you going to paint the whole thing?
When using textile paint or paint mixed with fabric medium it needs to be heat set with an iron. That process makes the stiffness is go away as well.
One question: after painting the fabric is not stiff tip?Thank you, Lea.
How do you wash the final product and ironing? thanks for your suggestions.
