    I shot over 40 weddings in the past few months with this lens and Sony alpha 7 4 … flawless! Super quick auto focus combination with the Sony cameras, took it for first time out in the rain and wind about 30 miles an hour on the beach, no problem!

    I (partially) switched to sony to be able to use this lens and have to say, Im happy I did ... for weddings, been able to do most of it with a 1 camera-1 lens approach not only makes everything easier and faster on the wedding day, but also find it to be faster on the editing too

    Mine bring delivered right now! Fun fact is that if you look back at the tamron Adaptall film era lenses it isn’t much of a surprise that tamron would create a lens in spirit similar to that one wildly popular back then . They had both a 28 to 105 and a 35 to 135 , even a 35 to 105 2.8

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  2 года назад +1

      Enjoy it! Yeah Tamron has made a lot of these in the past. I feel like these type of lenses have fallen out of favor in recent years, in lieu of small primes. But this brreathes new life into the lens type.

    Thank you so much for this and all of your other videos. I am guessing after borrowing it from a group shoot in Sacramento, Ca that was also co-sponsored by Tamron (Photo Slam), that I might just have to break down and purchase this amazing lens. I just know that, attached to my A7IV, I was immediately impressed with the first and every shot that came from them lens-OMG! What was the downside(s)? I had to stop thinking...stop thinking about "Am I at 2.0 or 2.8 right now? Am I missing out on the .8 aperature depth of field I am accustomed to getting with a prime? Does it matter right now?" WAY too much mind games going on. Lastly, I would not SOLELY take one body and one lens to any event. What if this amazing lens had an unexpected issue at an important event? I have no backup whatsoever and would have "crap" on my face for not having a "plan b". Other than that, I so loved using that huge focal range and look forward to renting a few more times to see if I can truly justify in my head the purchase one a new lens to add to my arsenal. Thanks again for all of your gear and lighting videos and honest thoughts you share. Huie D. (From Bay Area-California)

    Absolutely love this lens. I even decided to not use my faithful 85f1.4 prime on my most recent editorial shoot.
    I guess I lucked out. I got this lens from a local camera shop in Orlando the week it came out, before the hype was serious. Intended it to really only be a travel lens, which I did use it on a trip to San Francisco, but it's just so nice I'm starting to use it elsewhere as well.

    I bought or rather ordered this lens in November 2021. Delivered in the end of April. I had used it for 3 model shoots and some still life client images. I just used it for a full day on location model shoot. Nice yet there were some hesitations with AF, but that may be my A7RIIIa. Most images are keepers, and they are sharp wide open at any focal range. Especially nice is to have 150mm at f2.8 that gives nice bokeh in a huge range from 35mm at f2.0 upwards. I am sure I'd prefer primes, yet carrying them around and swapping lenses is not missed.

    Thank you for this in-depth review I watched about an year ago. For vacation, I would most likely want to have the small and lightweight with great IQ Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-f/5.6 with me. This lens is one of the main reason why I switched to the Sony FF body over all the other manufactures who are limiting the 3rd party lenses. When paired this lens with the new Sony A7RV with Ai & 8-stop IBIS, the 60MP FF with the super sharp Over Sampling 26MP APS-C images the combo provides an incredibly flexibilities that covers most of my needs and wants.
    Tamron 35-150mm f/2.0-f/2.8 focal range including the APS-C mode:
    @ f/2.0: 35mm-39mm (APS-C range: 52.5mm - 58.5mm / Total available range: 35mm - 58.5mm)
    @ f/2.2: 40mm-59mm (APS-C range: 60.0mm - 88.5mm / Total available range: 40mm - 88.5mm)
    @ f/2.5: 60mm-79mm (APS-C range: 90.0mm - 118.0mm / Total available range: 60mm - 118.0mm)
    @ f/2.8: 80mm-150mm (APS-C range: 120.0mm- 225.0mm / Total available range: 80mm - 225.0mm)
    IMHO, these two are a perfect match and made for each other in the photography world.

    I own a canon eos 7dii and have a collection of L grade lenses. This year I purchased a Sony a6600 as I wanted eye detection AF with a sigma 18-50 f2.8 as this would be a very nice travel camera. The Tamron 35-150 now adds a reasonable size lens for travelling, day trips, or when you need to travel light. So I would buy for my a6600if I can get a good deal. I use a sofa mc-11 adapter to mount my canon L lenses on to my a6600 when needed, ie 100 macro.

    Awesome review with a lot of useful information! I’ve done some event photography and have some weddings coming up. Would you recommend this lens over the 70-200 GM II? I already have 24, 55, and 85 primes and fast 17-28 and 28-70’s in my kit

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  2 года назад +2

      I have the 70-200 GM II as well. While it's a sensational lens, I think the benefits of 1 zoom giving you nearly the same coverage as your 28-70 and 70-200 is very advantageous. If you wanted to continue using two bodies you could have the other be your wide angle or prime of your choice. The big thing that this is contigent on is if you're willing to lose 150-200. If you have a high megapixel body there's really no loss.

    Sharpen - The 7:47 shot here, can this shapness be achieved with a A6500 using this same lens. Or does camera effect the sharpness of the photos.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  2 года назад

      Hey Amy. The overall sharp aesthetic could be achieved with a 6500, if viewed digitally / full view. The difference would be if you were looking at a print. Since it was taken with a 50MP camera, my shot would have a lot more resolution than one taken with a 6500. But otherwise it's just a high f/stop and quality glass that creates this sharp of an image, nothing out of reach with a 6500.
