You have just witnessed the GREATEST ENTERTAINER THE WORLD WILL EVER SEE!!!!! No auto-tune no pitch correction just PURE PERFECTION!! No one will ever come close to Elvis the power the passion the emotion. A gift to us all from GOD himself. Long live the KING.
Elvis was really crying when he did this song.he felt this in his heart and soul.he will always be the king of rock and rolll.he felt god in his heart and soul.now god has him singing up in heaven and he is truely shining.
This is from his aloha from hawaii concert in 1973. The whole concert was unbelievable! It was the first concert televised live around the world via satellite, a big deal then. Over a billion (yes billion with a B) watched it. Some say not only HIS best concert but the best concert ever by ANYONE. You can watch the whole thing on youtube. At the end he throws his rhinestone cape into the audience to a super lucky fan. By the way, notice that rock on his finger! Not fake. Whew!

Elvis.. rock & roll , Gospel.. country... love him.. have to tell u though.. Elvis never wrote any of his songs.. but dang... he could sing a song with such conviction and heart.
Elvis Presley the King of music,,, Elvis Presley the best singer all times forever. The great influence all times pop rock and society. Congratulations from Madrid Spain,,, i Frank ,,Elvis fan spanish
Out of all those amazing instruments still the most beautiful instrument is Elvis’s voice! Over all the others, his voice is what you hear, and want to hear!
He started singing gospel music when he was young. These songs are all classics: two are from the American Civil War: Dixie (the South) and The Battle Hymn of the Republic (The North) plus Hushaby Baby Don't You Cry and the folk song All My Trials from 50s and 60s Civil Rights protests.
Elvis was very emotional about gospel music and he had such a love for his country. Yeah, he was sweating but, you don’t sweat from your eyes. You should listen to him singing “How Great Thou Art”
I enjoyed your reaction and saw the feelings. He had so much energy and felt the music in his whole body. He would sweat from the energy in every performance. But, you can see when he closes his eyes while singing certain songs, he has great emotion that he doesn't try to hide.
This song, this concert ; The Aloha Concert from Honolulu, Hawaii 1973/was the first televised concert via satellite and was seen around the world in 47 countries with an audience of 1.6 billion people. Nothing like this had ever been done before. Check out: "What Now My Love" ( 1973 Aloha Concert...rehearsal) "You Gave Me A Mountain" ( '73 Aloha concert) "Suspicious Minds" (1970 Vegas Concert) "Tryin' To Get To Y ou" (1968 Comeback Special) "If I Can Dream" ( 1968 Comeback Special) "Jail House Rock (video....early Elvis) "Hound Dog" (Ed Sullivan Show) (1957 I think)
Glad to see I’m not the only one who appreciates this song, did you see the Elvis movies the scenes with it are I can’t even put into words just insanely good
Elvis had high blood pressure. and he always sweated when he was recording or putting on a show even in rehearsal! I think because he was so active and put so much emotion into his songs. They said he lost a.t least 5or 6 lbs. every show. Thats why he constantly drank water or Gatorade when performing.
Elvis did sweat a lot during his performances, however this was a really tough year for him... this is when him and Priscilla were divorcing, I'm sure a lot of emotions were flowing through him... it was a really hard time in his life.😔 There will never be another like Elvis.👑❤
Just to confirm...they were real tears. When he was singing "hush little baby" it was to his baby girl, Lisa Marie. He had an instinctive premonition that he was not long for the world. He died four years later in 1977. RIP
Tous personne aime la classe regarde Elvis le plus photographie au monde il détrôner tous soit acteur ou chanteur une pur merveille aimer tous les américain il connaisait pas le racisme
The way Elvis looks back at the band demanding they give him the best and he gets it WOW no one else gives this epic song such Saul absolutely brilliant👏👏👏👏👏👏
Dixie was a song sung mostly by Southern Whites about their sentimental love for their homeland. All My Trials was a song sung by people during the Civil Rights Movement Era which was about suffering and injustice. Battle Hymn of the Republic was sung by Northern troops during the Civil War and became a kind of anthem or rallying cry. It describes their fight as a righteous struggle ordained by God as part of his justice against slavery. In this way, the songwriter brings together three themes into one unifying message: that America is undergoing a righteous struggle against oppression which still acknowledging the Southerners love for their homeland. Ultimately, God's justice will prevail. The rest of the song includes "As He died to make men Holy, let us Live to make men Free/ His truth is marching on". When people say that the North did not fight to end slavery, this is one of the points I direct them to. Originally, the Civil War was about the North's desire to keep Southern States in the Union, and the Southern States desire to keep their political power (along with slavery). Most people recognized, however, that the cause behind this struggle had to do with slavery, and the Northern troops quickly adopted this song as a rallying cry for freedom against oppression and for God's justice to be done.
Apparently Abraham Lincoln felt deeply about both songs, and one can only wish that he would have lived after the Civil War. It is my belief he could have brought a better beginning for the US in the post war era. Its tragic he was murdered at such a criticial time
I’ll always remember this concert. We, my family, were in awe of him. Back then there was. I watching it online later. We had to gather and watch it real time. He was amazing
After it's introduction to the set list on 26 January 1972, An American Trilogy became a virtual ever present in the Elvis Presley live show until it was replaced by America The Beautiful in late 1975 as the country approached it's bicentennial anniversary, although it would still be performed occasionally until it's final outing on 2 June 1977 in Mobile, Alabama. The nature of the song and it's complicated orchestral arrangement meant that it would always sound better when the full orchestra was in attendance which essentially meant in Las Vegas or Lake Tahoe and the initial versions in 1972 in the Hilton's main showroom are among the very best versions. At only two venues outwith Vegas or Tahoe did Elvis have the luxury of utilising the full orchestra, at the landmark shows in New York and Honolulu, in 1972 and 1973 respectively. It is no coincidence therefore, that the version seen in the 14 January 1973, Aloha From Hawaii show is probably the finest example of Elvis performing the song. However, in 1972 and 1973 just about every version that Elvis performed in that time are of a very high quality.
He did that live via satellite to a worldwide audience. Something like 1 in every 3 people on earth watched it. He’s sweating under the intense stage lighting.
This trilogy has overtones of the American Civil War.. the first song Dixie, was the the battle hymn of the south, the second, The Battle Hymn of the Republic, was the Hymn of the North, the third, is a man, probably a soldier, getting ready to go to war and having doubts of his survival, bidding farewell to his child, and making peace with the Lord.. great performance.
A history lesson, starts about loving where you were born, making a choice to escape and go north to come fighting to free their families in the south, not knowing if they will make it to the north safely or upon enlisting to fight would ever see their families when they were coming back south fighting their way through counties and states
American Trilogy is a very moving song because it embraces three different aspects of US history. It is a medley of three songs: Dixie was considered an unofficial Confederate anthem during the Civil War, All My Trials (the one that included the flute solo) was an African-American spiritual song and was popular during the social protest movements of the 50's and 60's, and the Glory Hallelujah piece is from the Battle Hymn of the Republic and was a marching song of the Union Army as they fought against the Confederate Army in the Civil War. The amount of passion Elvis puts into the performance really gives these historical songs tremendous impact.
Glad you posted the explanation and it is something that 85 % of people don't realize. Being born and raised in the South I'm familiar with three songs but looking at comments on different

It was performed live January 14th 1973 and boadcast in 40 countries and watched by a world audience of 1.5 Billion people. The jumpsuit is the American Eagle Jumpsuit, it was made specifically for this concert because Elvis wanted something that said “America”. They promoted as 1.5billion but because of that technology at one it was impossible most tvs in the world only had 1or2 channels and very few places had satellites and u got to remember that being in 1973 middle cold war era there was no western media to China or russia and those countries vassal states that eliminates half the worlds potential for watching and live tele via satellite would've meant satellite public satellite in around earth which they didn't have I think Japan got it live as did Hawaii and the Pacific states but once u start heading east the time difference is great we just didnt hav the tech for the way it was promoted Col Parker was a genius wen it came to marketing and making money. But it fair to say wen it did go on teles at different times around the world at least 1.5billion would be watched it.The claim by by parker that aloha was watched by 1.5 billion worldwide live concert was a flat out lie we know that for fact now

I flew the American flag 🇺🇸 today in his memory.
