whats with all the different model numbers on the neway kit? then they have one for small engines and another for OHV small engines. and the briggs manual says the seats need to be cut at 30 and 45 degrees. Why do the kits say 31 and 46 degree cutters? :/
Nice video, I hope you show lapping the valves in, and then installing and doing the final adjustment. There seems to be very little or no videos on adjusting valves on a flathead engine, lots on overhead valves but very little on these.
Thanks for your video's, I have a question? I got a 1979 11 hp briggs on a jd111 that was given to me, the mower was missing both valves and the exhause seat was missing, I bought the valves and the seats on ebay, how do I install the exh seat into the briggs block? After the seat is installed , is the procedure for cutting it the same as you show in this video for re-installing a used seat?
Jeremy, good video. I've been looking for a "recommended way" to remove the valve seats from a B&S 725EX engine. Have you ever posted anything for that?
Hi, I have refaced the valves and used the Neway on the seats. Rings are good, still have no compression, 1970's 3.5HP Tecumseh. Valve lash is per spec, can old valve springs be causing this? Thanks Tony Port Hadlock, WA
@DerricksonJ THE REASON THERE ARE NO VIDS ON ADJ FLAT HEAD VALVES IS BECAUSE THERE ARE NO ADJUSTMENTS....IN SOME EXTREME CASES YOU MIGHT HAVE TO GRIND THE VALVE STEM OFF TO GET THE PROPER CLEARENCE BUT OTHER THAN THAT THEY ARE MAINTENANC FREE ON VALVE ADJUSTMENTS
Hi Jeremy, I am working on a Briggs & Statton engine, mod 12H802. I am having leakage through the intake valve. I have cleaned up the seat with the Neway, homed the valves, and it still leaks. Leakdown test 60# in, 45 out. Any suggestions, driving me crazy. Should I just write this one off. This is a salvage mower, so no great loss. Thanks Tony Port Hadlock, WA
think for the video I worked in a machine shop when I was in college people always use to do value jobs on small engines but we turn them away. im looking to get into restoring a old briggs are two if I can find one so thinks for the video and im looking for some good leads on old small engines 50's are older
The 30° used in the int, can be used as the reducer in the exust seat, just to make the seat face a little thinner. It will seal better and not heat up so much.
surely if your are to cut the valve seat out like this you then need to grind the same amount you have cut off the end of the valve stem in order to achieve correct valve clearance....
get a new cheap honda clone engine. Either you get the engine started or buy a new one... Stupid to invest too much time and money for an engine that you even don't know if it will run

do you lap the valves after the cutting? what about grinding the vavle? is possible to do it manually?

Hey there, what cutter do you have? I do small engine repair and engine rebuilding, And i am not sure what kit to buy.
a handy kit, did the basic job ok didnt it
the engine looks similar to my push mower briggs&stratton 3.5hp
so how do you do the valves after you do the seats? and can i re use the valves or replace them?
How do you know which cutter to get?
Nice job. And a very nice kit.

You should always replace the valve guide, then cut the seat to center the valve in the seat.
how do you know what angle your valve seats are?
YES YOU ARE CORRECT
@Adamssecretusername I ALWAYS LAP THE VALVES IN AFTER A NEWAY CUT
Very helpful video! Thank you for showing it!
Did you check your piston rings?

Nice vid but i havnt seen you upload anything lately...you still gonna make videos man?

How do u find which size cutter to use
Industry standard.
he he yup!
Depends on the angle spec of your engine.
nah more like 150 off ebay

How would you do that
@Matthew Kerhin Thank you . I am interested in learning small engine repair and only have RUclips to learn from lol
@Matthew Kerhin Thank you . I will definitely check them out
nice!
" best price"..........
More like the highest price you could find
UNLESS you have adjustable tappets :)
$500... screw that. ill have a shop do it at that price
Exactly. That's why I am here. To do the work that most ppl can't
