- You decide.Update: Looking back on this now in college studying music education, I can tell you that this is very sloppy and that you should take very little from this. The basic pattern is there, but seek further if you want to know how to make it cleaner.

Even with your update above, I think it's great that you posted this and kept it here. Thanks for the help.
Really helpfull - but then again it is up to the songs 'feel'. Personally I prefer the second version - it almost feels like 2/4 in triplets.
@hemutu Like I said in the video it depends on what your band director chooses for you to conduct. I've never heard of conducting 6/8 like that, it's not terrible but my only discrepancy with that is that your hands go up before the entire measure is finished. I only bring my hands up when the measure is up simply because everyone knows that a new measure is about to come when the hands are "up". Just listen to your director though, he has the last say in what you do.
@kittykatz503 That's up to you or your band director. Personally I don't like looking at "cup-handed" drum majors which is what you get when you put your thumbs in completely. I do agree though, my thumbs are further out in this video than they should be, but it's not terrible. If you're thumbs go to far out beyond that point then the band might see the beat different than what you might want to be giving, confusion is never good. Keep clear and you'll do great!
It is cool to watch your skill. Now, if you say this is "sloppy", may you please present a more professional instruction?:D conducting is quite awesome. I need to practice a lot so i can build coordination. I think i may mostly use it to teach children.
God bless you, Jesus love you
i thought that it was bad to have your thumbs pointed outwards...
Top, bottom or Vers?
My band does 6/4 differently.. we do Down, In, Out, Up, Down, Up.
I mean 6/8
