I came upon a real treat among my uncle's old VHS tapes. A VERY rare full episode of Simpsons from the Tracey Ullman show featuring Graggle Simpson. I think this one was only broadcasted once before they decided to cut Graggle from the Simpsons permanently. He may even have still been called "Weird Matt" at this point.
I'm planning to go through more of my uncle's old VHS tapes once I find the time, so make sure to watch this channel for more Graggle Simpson-related content in the future.

I have no idea why they removed Graggle in future versions of the shorts and the show. He fits in so seamlessly! Thank you so much for preserving The Simpson Family as I’ll always remember them.

This was recorded at some point in the very early 2000s as part of a special, just before he was fully removed. I remember they scaled his role back and cut all of his spoken lines at first. In the original he had some real zingers for Homer, and a whole scene where he accidentally ruins a picture by pulling out Maggie's pacifier.
In this version he's still there but doesn't really contribute much, which I think was the idea. It made it easier to fully cut him shortly after.
I was very young when the shorts first aired, but I do remember it that way. I thought that perhaps I had him confused with Gumbly. It was a long time ago and it's an easy mistake to make.

in mexico gragle is a more well-known character and the episodes he appeared where still on tv until 2008, despite being removed he is known all around the country and you can even find him as paintings or decorations in several restaurants

Graggle is the only character on Simpsons that was able to make me cry. His episode when he stopped Barney from dying of alcohol poisoning moved me to tears, because I grew up in a family of alcoholics, and the episode really hit close to home... I wish I had a Graggle in my life growing up.
If it wasn't for Graggle, my neighborhood never would have collectively given up all the hard drugs that were ruining the place. The episode where Graggle became Graggle Man then said "it's Graggleing time!", then proceed to push all the drug dealers out of Springfield was so inspiring. They even started saying "It's Graggleing time!" when fighting dealers.
Still can't believe the Graggle 3D beat-em-up was canceled in favor of Simpsons Hit and Run. Like don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but we never got a Graggle game...

@@dennisholmgren4107 I believe Graggle was an archangel of some sort, sent down to Springfield (specifically) to keep everyone safe, especially the Simpsons as they were more or less, a dysfunctional but loving family at times, and to shape Springfield into the town that now is a huge part of our childhood. And after that he “disappeared” as his deeds in this nostalgic town (as an angel) were done. I’d like to think this theory is canon, instead of simply “missing a voice-actor” etc. your reply is highly inspiring btw.

This was prime Simpsons right here, before they removed him! Graggle was my favorite character, he always had a good joke to crack in the episodes.
Hes real, he was just edited out of subsequent sindicated airings and dvd releases due to pressure from Fox executives not liking the character, most new Simpsons fans will tell you hes fake but thats because theyre zoomers who didnt watch the episodes graggle was in on premiere airings, I vividly remember watching episodes as a kid with him in it.
I remember that in the original cut of "who shot mr burns", it was graggle the one who shot him, but as always, they had him removed and instead they made Maggie the culprit.

Unfortunately for you the original video resolution. Makes very evident the addition of the graggle digitally add because of that, it looks sharp and barely moves. Still looks fake
You can tell he’s fake in some scenes as it doesn’t match the simpsons old style aka the lineart as it’s more brown yet that’s very hard to do anyway and overall this was extremely well made

The linework gives it away. Graggle's outline is a lot sharper and higher quality than the blurry outlines for the other family members.
