      I lowkey think I may have always been poly 🤣😂 Lawd knows I stayed in triangles with family, friends and my past partners may have been cheaters towards the end of our relationship them triangles was always toxic though.

    I came out as polyamorous to my family at 30 and they completely disowned me. It's such a balm to the soul to see this conversation between Black Women. I share soooo many of the sentiments expressed; fundamentally I don't believe I own anyone.

    This is a woman that truly knows herself and knows what she wants and needs, and is not confined to societal norms. I understand the concept, but I don't think I am emotionally mature to handle it fully. I can concur about the sex part when she said her sex drive is not compatible with her husband's. Instead of him being unfulfilled go find someone that can do that for you no need for divorce or cheating because it is communicated WELL that there is an understanding. This lets me further know I need to communicate more and better.

    What’s blowing my mind is marriage is taught to be a bond. I would rather not share my soulmate with anyone intimately.. luckily I’m 26 and being exposed(reading/listening-to) to different forms of relationships so I may not do marriage at all.

      That's how you can tell she is taking advantage. Because if he was 'fully and freely expressing' himself with other woman... his resources would be very limited. Women exchange sex for these resources and provision. The only women that give it up for free, are women like her. Ones who are already provided for and secure. This game is very easy for her. The other women will require A LOT more from him for consistent sex.

    Wow. She explains what I’ve been feeling. I’m emotionally connected to two men and I refuse to pick. They both know about each other and they can leave me alone whenever they please. I also have no desire to be married so poly is really what I’m looking to. My whole life is already non-traditional in the first place 😂

  • @aishapeyton6855
    @aishapeyton6855 Год назад +5

    I appreciate Mikki sharing her personal story, it was eye opening. While she sounds like she's navigating this relationship well I find myself asking: Why remain married? The definition of marriage is the union of two people as partners.
    This is just open cheating to me, which is better than doing it behind your partners back, but it still seems wrong. In my book if you say "I choose you" that means I choose to be with you and only you. It doesn't include adding others to this intimate thing you and I have. Having another sexual/emotional partner is not the same as having multiple kids or friends, it's a different kind of love.
    This is not a positive for society, especially black society. The low marriage statistic is a whole topic onto itself and poly relationships would make things worse, not better. We can try to rationalize it all we want but in the end there's a reason humans don't gravitate towards these relationships, hearts get involved and it gets messy real quick.

    • @Getmikkibey
      @Getmikkibey Год назад +7

      I so appreciate your perspective. There simply are more than one way to do things. Why stay married? Because we want to do life together as married people. We do our marriage in a way that works for us. Black people can benefit from more love and understanding between us no matter how that comes about. Two things can be true at the same time. Thank you for watching and leaving a thoughtful comment ❤

    • @lifeisrocqi

      Marriage has legal, medical, and financial benefits. Otherwise no one would sign papers with the government.
      Also cheating is based in lying, secrecy, deception, and betrayal. And in consensual nonmonogamy, that's not happening.

Ain't no way me or my woman about to be actively dating, sleeping with, developing severely strong emotional connections, falling in love, crying about it, hell no. Another question:
    You asked do we live our parents and siblings…of course these are a group of people we been around our entire life. But we aren’t Intimate with them…we don’t share certain aspects of our lives that we do with our husbands/partner.
    Where is the Intimacy in your marriage? How do you define that now that you are poly? Do you believe you are giving the idea that it’s ok to marry and allowing cheating while disgusting it as poly? What about soul ties? You are sharing a piece of yourself every time you sleep with someone and they the same with you. How do you deal with that?
    Loving family and friends is different from the person you committed to sharing and building a life with.
    I’m sorry this is a great episode and I’m just curious. It definitely opened up a doorway for conversation for sure

    It’s all good until he “fully expresses” himself and start completely providing and protecting for another woman that he loves. It’s easy and cost nothing for this woman to be intimate with other men. All the while she has a safety blanket at home. Not a comparable game for men and women. Not by a long shot. The HARD part for a woman is to get a man to commit to her in terms of provision and protection... why would a man give away his time, protection and resources to someone who is not his and his alone? Women know this, and she knows this and is taking full advantage. He should just be single or pay for any and all attention/sex that he wants with no other strings attached. Which would leave her without access to his full provision and protection... simply because it's not infinite. it runs out especially if you are sharing it.

    Question:
    Why are you guys still married? Why not have a non martial union while being poly? Do you feel like you guys are taking away the opportunity of marriage from those you are sleeping/dating, becoming emotionally attached too? You guys come home to each other while they may go home to no one. You said you guys aren’t swingers so it’s not couple swapping. You stated you addressed being jealous of him going on another date with the woman he spent time with in Napa. Is that you pulling the wife card in this moment? (Just curious). How are you guys planning your financial future…retirement etc? What does that look like?
    A lot of questions….but trying to understand.

It was obvious that she is a person with strong convictions but the Sharks are Sharks for a reason. She could not convince them because as experts, they did not 'buy' her definition of business. Anyway, just seems like an attempt to redefine what one wants or don't want to do. People really out here agreeing to 'share' partners. Wow.

    Sister Wives is not polyamory. It's a religion, with one sided polygamy, where they are brought up to think they have to live this way to get to heaven, and sometimes the marriages are arranged "by God" (men). This is completely different. It's not just as valid, and it's not really a choice. They're brainwashed.
