Yeah, that divorced transfercase is nice for its interchange ability, but sitting so far back is kind of a pain, which is why it's taken so long to actually get 4WD in FrankenTruck.
Absolutely correct! I remember dad saying the same thing years ago and, when I was a teenager, getting around a car/truck wasn't a big deal, now what he said totally makes sense! Hope you have a Happy New Year!
Good evening Sir, keep your great sence of humor 👍😊 and keep up the great works Sir ! Have an Happy New Year and all the best to you and your love one's Cheers !!!
Great workmanship and you are making fantastic progress. I like your thinking with the front driveshaft. Your video has helped us decide that we need a four post lift, when you watch someone else struggle it seems to make it more real. Looking forward to seeing what you are going to collect. Happy New Year!
Thanks! Yeah, just got to figure out how to make it work, and then, do it! Yes! For sure! I actually have a 2-post lift I've never installed because I don't want to sacrifice the space. But maybe when I get my lean-to better enclosed and equipped, I'll go ahead and install it. But they sure save frustration! Thanks for watching and commenting and hope you have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
i like that driveshaft. could you have done away with the double u-joint at the carrier bearing end since you set the angle so slight with the pillow block? i will be interested to see if you get any vibration issues when using two slip yokes in the same shaft. i sure wish i had a lathe. would make things a little easier! i love watching machining videos!
Yes, I think I could have, but I also went that route because that whole front prop shaft is available "remanufactured" from parts stores, so if that fails on the road somewhere, I could possibly replace when away from home. The one slip-yoke has that eccentric lock collar on the carrier bearing, and since the transfer case can move a little in its rubber mounts, I needed a way to allow for that movement. I've driven it, and there is definitely driveline noise. I don't think it's the bearing making the noise, it feels more like an out-of-balance drive shaft, which is possible since I never balanced that rear shaft I made. I need to mount a camera or something down there and see if I can tell what's going on. I figured you'd like this video since you were just recently working on making drive shafts too! Thanks for watching and commenting! Happy New Year!
I soo want to take a road trip in it, but seems like things just keep working against me. Stay tuned for the next installment of the never-ending project tomorrow! Happy New Year! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Happy New Year, Scruffy! Yep, I need to setup a camera or something and do some more driving around, one of these days! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Wait!!! hold on is it me??? Is it a texas thing??? But I don’t see the addition of twin pipes rising out of the bed pointing to the heavens ,6 inch día pipes perhaps?? And has to has the rain caps so you can hear them tapping at idle . But it could just be me LOL
I had 4" stack on my 1976 highboy Ford along with headers and rain caps no muffler. Sounds nice until the town cop said i had to quite it down some I was follow behind at the time.
@@burningdinosaurs the acts a muffler from the get go ,straight pipes on gas engines tends to be quite a bit louder had a f350 with a gas 370 5 speed trans at wide open you could hear me 2 miles away at night LOL
Also he said that the silicone on splines or a rubber washer keeps gear lube from migrating up the splines causing a leak. Just saying. Great VIDJA’s 👍🏻
Thanks! I appreciate that! Yeah, I'd hate for it to leak out of something simple like the splines, and it happens, but I'm sure it'll leak somewhere else, that's just how things go for me. Thanks for watching and commenting! Hope you have a Happy New Year!
Haa!! I know, math + me = frustration! lol! Yeah, it might be interesting, might just be junk, but we'll see! Thanks for watching and commenting! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I honestly don't know what the lift is over stock. I'd have to guess 6-8", but since I didn't buy a lift kit, just basically fabricated stuff as I went, I don't have an actual measurement. The wheels are unknown brand 16.5 and the tires are ex-HMMWV tires, 37X12.5X16.5.
Ford highboys had a long front drive shaft! That's the first front carrier bearing I've seen!

Nice edits! All that time under Frankentruck reminds me of how much I like working on tractors. Lol

How much lift?
What's the rim tire setup??
