Thank you for this, Ren. I'm actually about to record the "tale" trilogy. Super gassed for it.

Another reactor said"Ren is a Wormhole, I need to deep dive him now" andthat's exactly it - I, like thousands of his followers, see him with one performance and automatically we feel compelled to deep dive and watch everything he has produced- and each piece is so unique, a surprise, covering a multitude of genres. He's a lyrical and performance genius, yet so authentic and humble. His Reach is two- pronged - those who simply enjoy and appreciate his music and performance, and those who resonate with parts of his story as he articulates their own pain and struggles. Imo, he's a born Warrior of Light and is now stepping into his Power to shine his Light of hope, inspiration and validation through the myriad of gifts and talents he has

I've watched a lot of reactions to this and I can say without a doubt that this one is my favorite. Such a genuine show of emotions and a willingness to share what it made you feel. This was beautiful. Thank you for being so real. It's such a relatable song for me these reactions are almost like feedback for myself and my own situation. If you liked Ren, you may love my all time favorite artist Eyedea artist (RIP) - would absolutely love for you to an Eyedea Track (also goes by Oliver Hart) - as deep, brilliant, lyrically gifted and achingly real and transcendent as Ren; both Eyedea and Ren offer such wisdom and art of the highest caliber; here is one of Eyedeas - if you like metal and rap (hybrid) this is what I’d start with:

My wife turned me onto Ren…former American expats who lived in Edinburgh, I found it so much easier to unpack the myriad of messages, watching a UK reactor guide me thru. American reactors got bunged up with the language/culture. Thank you, Chief, but thank you more, Ren. I lost my eldest daughter to the ravages of mental illness and drugs several years ago. Your performance moved me to tears. God bless you.

I am so, so very deeply sorry for your loss. I am a survivor of multiple attempts and reading your words makes me think of my own parents and how easily they could’ve been in your shoes.
I am doing well today but I feel your pain, and I definitely feel that of your beloved daughter. I know is watching over you from above w all her love.
When parents like you share their stories, it does several things…
It makes it ok for other parents - and other people - to share their stories.
It helps to destigmatize mental illness and substance dependence so that we can have meaningful conversations about how to better treat people who are suffering from these terrible conditions.
It helps raise awareness and it creates much needed teachable moments.
It helps bring healing to those who have loved someone who has suffered/is suffering and who have lost someone in this way, and especially heals those who share their own stories and their grief and their journeys.
And lastly - although certainly not least - it helps people like me truly see the grief we would’ve left in our wake had we had been successful. It makes us think. Hard.
While I’m sure you would much rather not be in the position of being a parent w such a story to share, please know how much you’ve helped me today, and anyone else who read your comment.
Idk if it brings you even the tiniest bit of comfort hearing that, but you are making a difference. You are an inspiration. You are part of the solution.
Idk…I feel like my words are jumbled and I deeply hope I am not offending you or hurting you in any way. Please forgive me if I am out of line.
If you’ve read my words, thank you so much for taking the time to do so.
Again, I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter. I will keep her spirit in my heart, and you and your family in my thoughts.
Sending peace, love, and constant healing.
Chief - thank you for your beautiful, honest, moving reaction, and for creating a safe place to open ourselves up to discussing this pain.
And to Ren, should you ever read this…thank you for making this conversation possible. Thank you for this work of art. Thank you for everything.

I’ve watched this video so much! I can’t even explain how much this has just blown my mind! It’s an art piece!!
Everything is so thought out with this! The way he is wheeled in but leaves the video stood up on his own two feet! The way the lights only flicker when his ‘inner voice’ is speaking. Then how he portrays when each side has fully taken over as he stares in to the camera when he sings the two sides at the end. I could go in forever but it has completely made my year (even if it has just started!)

I don't know how I stumbled upon your reaction, but I'm thankful I did. REN has produced something that I believe every human being experiences on some level. For me, it was drug and alcohol addiction.
The spiritual battle got so much bigger when I stopped drinking and using. My demons were always there waiting and poking holes, hoping I would cave. In March, I will have 27 years clean.
Now YOU.. your reaction is exactly what I'm going through every single day since I lost my dad almost 2 years ago. I can not speak of his passing without falling apart. I've never known real grief before, and I'm afraid if I let even a little flow, I'm going to shatter into pieces, and no one will be there to put me back together. I sat here and cried WITH you as a result of Rens' brilliant video! A crack in my armor. I'll duct tape it and get back to going through the motions of my daily life. One day at a time. He is truly special and his music is inspiring and hopeful, very powerful!! Thank you, Ren! You have already touched so many people with this one song! This world needed this now more than ever! You got this, Ren, and you will go far! Never give up your positive attitude! WOW!

I just saw this video the other day, I’ve never heard of Ren (I’m older takes me awhile to catch up), but when you hear/see genius, you just know it. No matter your favorite type of music, or favorite anything, true genius and talent stand head & shoulders above the rest. Very intense & moving. It’s ok to talk about one’s self if it is relatable. We all have those schizo moments, but having true mental illness touches everyone in someway. Maybe it’s someone you love or just see them living homeless under the freeway underpass. I’ve taken care of schizophrenics and it’s a heartbreaking and torturous life. I think this song does a fantastic job of giving people a real look into that mental disease. Imagine if that never ended. Your mind is always back and forth and struggling to know what’s real and what isn’t when it is all real to you. At least this is what comes to my mind when I watch this video and hear the lyrics. Ren is an amazing & gifted talent with a rare insight that brings people to a new realization of others’ suffering, and a deeper level of understanding & compassion. Thank you Ren.

After losing my boyfriend coming up to 2 years ago, I've struggled with living, my mental health, I'm fighting with myself daily.. This piece of art touches a part of my soul.. It's so profound in the way I can relate.. That it gives me hope.. I feel so alone but I know there are others travelling down similar paths... For every dark day, I know it's a result of having such a beautiful day.. Like Ren said the pendulum casts that dark shadow. We can't appreciate the good, beautiful, love.. Was amazing to see your reaction, dont ever apologise for showing how moved you were. A friend shared it months ago and i absolutely bawled my eyes out. Such a powerful piece, a real work of art. Ren deserves acclaim for this, cinematically, performance and the affect it has on the listener. Im 45 and was brought up on all genres of music, but this piece was overwhelming, like I've never experienced. The lyrics are genius and the performance put it all into the perspective it needed to get his message across. So so talented and I've watched it a stupid amount of times. Seeing a man moved by this makes it all the more poignant. As men are often hidden sufferers. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this work. I loved Ren's response to you above too. I also love his Chalk Outlines and I will check out more of his work. Id love to see him live and will probably be the oldest there but I dont care. Ren you're a creative genius. I know what its like to struggle with lifelong health issues, I've lost so much but youre right things do get easier and we are human. Your words touched my heart and made me realise I'm not alone. So thank you. I also sent it to others that I know are struggling. Maybe this song is it's own kind of medicine in a way. It will help so many.. I applaud it so much.

To continue your lovely analogy; The thing about running along our dark paths is that we don't see anyone so we wrongfully assume we're alone. We always think everyone else is at some far away clearing, and we feel ashamed of being stuck in the dark. There are in fact people running along side of us the whole time. We'd know that if only we weren't too ashamed to call out. That's why we are comforted by people's stories about themselves. They are that call from the darkness.
A story told without honesty and without vulnerability will feel like a mocking call and seem selfish but an honest story told with your guard down and from a place of trust will always connect. Nothing makes us feel safer and more at ease with ourselves as someone else being open about their own messedupness (shush. it's a word now)
When you dare to look at yourself honestly and share what you see, you give me the courage to do the same because I can see that you can survive it. When you openly accept the scars and weaknesses in you, you are letting me know that the scars and weaknesses in me are acceptable. That's one of the most beautiful gifts we as humans can give each other.
It's in that space, between people connecting through the darkness, that new clearings can be created in the middle of the densest forest. That's how they all got there. If no clearing is coming fast enough. If you stumble and fall. Swallow your pride. Call out. Connect. Make your own!

That 'stuck' feeling IS terrifying. I try to remember that there need to be a place between what no longer is and what is yet to come where we must stand still for a while to work on the skills we were lacking where we came from, but need where we're going... If that makes any sense at all?
And yes, I totally agree. I think that's what art is really for. To give comfort when we're sad, validation when we're ahamed, courage when we're afraid and hope when we're hopeless, and I think this song does it all.

At the end when he is "Hope" the camera moves different and there are lens flares to make the visual feel more "hopeful"... Everything about this is transcending / next level / indescribable. Death isn't the opposite to Life, but its the opposite to Birth, Life goes on in my opinion. You probably wont react to this but check out Eckhart Tolle sometime, hes has the same message all of the gurus have always had over the years, it hasn't changed.
Ren has touched on this same message although not fully but for a young musician has pointed us all in the right direction, and it is extremely powerful.

Just dropping a comment to let you know I made it to the point where you thanked us for hanging around for the whole video. Thank you for your reaction and content. I also wanted to add, at least from my experience, that looking back and realizing that everything was going to be all right. You just needed to calm down so you can see everything and think things through. Nobody could have told you that and made it any better because you wouldn't have accepted it. Like I said, that's just my experience

I just saw your reaction to Ren HI REN HI and watching you say sorry for getting emotional. You dont have to apolgize for beeing human and we all express our feelings differently i myself cried when i heard this song for the first time and i also got goosebumps and still listen to this song almost everyday. This song is a masterpiece. Its art expressed through music and REN killed it. He deserves a grammy for this song. Til this day im still in awe of this piece. This is his gift that GOD has given him and now his journey begins to share his gift to the world. i hope all his dreams and goals come true he deserves this. REN IS THE GOAT. stay strong and be safe and i will never forget that we are human beeings and we do make mistakes and we are not perfect.

Such a great reaction. Thanks for being so vulnerable and open, I hate seeing men try put on that “grrr I’m a man I can’t show emotion” front. Mental health is still stigmatised, especially men’s mental health. I’m a massive advocate for it. Anyway although I’m late to the game watching your videos I just wanted to send a virtual hug 🖤

I truly appreciated your genuine, heartfelt reaction and comments and my reaction to this song is similar to yours even after having watched this performance numerous times. I just learned about Ren a few days ago and have gone down this rabbit hole ever since. I can personally relate to many of his songs and they deeply touch me. Ren is an amazing artist; he plays multiple instruments and has great vocal ability. I am glad you have decided to check more of him. I would suggest you also listen/react to his musical collaborations with Chinchilla, his solo street performances, as well as his street sessions as a member of "The Big Push," which really showcase his vocal and instrumental skills. Ren is one-of-a-kind.

I have been listening to this song every day since he put it out. Today I started looking for reaction videos because I needed to know if other people were as effected by this as I was. I was wondering if you had to be a big Ren fan already to appreciate this one. Turns out even complete newbies to Ren are blown away by it.

Your analogies have real beauty. The running through the woods, the clearings and the light, the knowing there are others in the dark but you can’t quite see them. Please know you have a power to reach others too. Thanks for your kindness.x

Thank you for being the emotional mess that you became watching this song. To me, it shows that you relate and...that you are human. It can be an example for people (especially men) not to hold in their tears. It is ok. It shows you care, it shows you know, it shows you feel ❤

Your transparent and raw reaction was the perfect complement to Ren's incredibly vulnerable performance. It honestly gives his brilliance the respect it deserves. So, thanks for being brave enough to put it out there. And that forest analogy shows you have some of your own seeds of creative genius as well - really apropos. Thanks for sharing. And yes - this is my first ever comment...so sorry for the horrid user name.
