He has body dysmorphia so he still sees himself as fat. He probably still sees himself as “poor” because if you grew up poor, that feeling never really goes away. Objectively, he’s obviously not poor now. But he still feels that way. Compared to someone like Jeffree, he feels poor since he has like 1000x less money. A millionaire feels poor next to a billionaire. He should stop yeah, but I think he has more underlying mental health problems than just the dysmorphia. But to find the right music, make sure that all scenes are placed in chronological order in every single episode since they have probably over a thousand footage in the memory card alone, to edit in a way where people would understand what is going on by finding out which exact day was it film and typing out ‘10 days before dramageddon’ ‘56 days before launch’ etc etc, creating an intro, having different cliffhangers in every episode, making sure to filter out some things that are not meant to be shown, making sure to have all the screenshots of literally everything. Having to dig up receipts from twitter, saving instagram live videos from their phone, screen recording others stories, making sure to screenshot all websites being down on launch day (beautylish, morphe, jeffeestar), cutting footages from videos that were made by their fans during the launch when all fans try to buy the items but can’t and trying to fit it all together. Watching all drama channels and once again, taking parts of their footages to put in their video to make things make sense is all insane and to produce at least one video each week of 11 months worth of content? I don’t know.

The thing that bothers me the most is that he's obviously carefully created this image of him being so naive and unaware of all the money he could be making, like this is all new to him and he's some small guy making it big through putting his heart into this. His “documentaries” are like high school tapes kids make. I just don’t buy anything he says or the fake personality.

I’m not a fan of him, but to be clear he did used to be those thing. He grew up really poor, he grew up really fat. In his old videos he talks a lot about his depression. He has body dysmorphia so he still sees himself as fat. He probably still sees himself as “poor” because if you grew up poor, that feeling never really goes away. Objectively, he’s obviously not poor now. But he still feels that way. Compared to someone like Jeffree, he feels poor since he has like 1000x less money. A millionaire feels poor next to a billionaire. He should stop yeah, but I think he has more underlying mental health problems than just the dysmorphia. He was also abused by his dad, I’m certain he just has really low self esteem and identity issues more so than being fake.

But to find the right music, make sure that all scenes are placed in chronological order in every single episode since they have probably over a thousand footage in the memory card alone, to edit in a way where people would understand what is going on by finding out which exact day was it film and typing out ‘10 days before dramageddon’ ‘56 days before launch’ etc etc, creating an intro, having different cliffhangers in every episode, making sure to filter out some things that are not meant to be shown, making sure to have all the screenshots of literally everything. Having to dig up receipts from twitter, saving instagram live videos from their phone, screen recording others stories, making sure to screenshot all websites being down on launch day (beautylish, morphe, jeffeestar), cutting footages from videos that were made by their fans during the launch when all fans try to buy the items but can’t and trying to fit it all together. Watching all drama channels and once again, taking parts of their footages to put in their video to make things make sense is all insane and to produce at least one video each week of 11 months worth of content? I don’t know.

The thing that bothers me the most is that he's obviously carefully created this image of him being so naive and unaware of all the money he could be making, like this is all new to him and he's some small guy making it big through putting his heart into this. But Shane has been doing this for a LONG time. Not only is he already wealthy and influential, but he's also experienced enough to know exactly how much money this will make them. This was just a very effective marketing campaign and it works because people see it as a down to earth guy naive to this big world just taking you along his emotional journey.

It is such a marketing ploy to pretend like you're just like everyone else, so that people who buy the palette feel like they're just helping a friend be successful. In reality Shane does NOT believe he's on the same level of every working class person, cause he's just not. Also, people in general like to think they're the next big thing, that they're just temporarily embarrassed millionnaires, so Shane playing the underdog is very relatable to them.
