The McKinley II FCC is no longer listed on the website so I called President Electronics (4/15/2024), and it was a limited production run. I think I’m glad I got one. Ordered a President antenna and plan to install it and the radio soon. Ordered the new George FCC and hope to convince more coworkers to adopt FM and SSB so we can have better communication. I’m a Pilot car driver and Steerman for wind turbine blades and get burned out on the am channels.
I grabbed a new one off eBay for $179 from a vender that didn’t know the difference between the McKinley 1 and 2 models. Needless to say they sold out very quickly! Mine has been great when used for DXing with an Antron 99 and in my car with a Trax 3500.
I bought the first gen McKinnley right before FM was approved on CB. Very happy with my AM/SSB, and have been looking forward to updating my units with FM models. I also like that they have been pretty receptive to providing service manuals - that's almost unheard of in the current tech industry ecosystem.
Thanks for the video. We appreciate that we have an American AM/FM/SSB CB radio version, but in our humble opinion, President Electronics forgot to do two things to make us buy this radio: 1- CTCSS/DCS features and 2- 6 Digit Frequency counter. President Electronics Harrison has the CTCSS/DCS features, and Randy II FCC has the six digits frequency counter. Why did they forget to put them in this new McKinley II? We're waiting for the next version then.
I think having the CTCSS and DCS would be fun and likely will be included on future models. The 6th digit isn't really important as the radios don't have the ability to adjust it anyways. The new european President George II has everything you're looking for though plus the extra frequency and even split operation. I'm trying to get my hands on one for a video :)
@cbradiomagazine Thanks for replying. They announced President GEORGE II before MC KINLEY II, so we thought that the MC KII would be like the GII or better for FFC. But, it's just the MC K. They add the FM mode inside, and on the outside, they write FM and II in the front of the box. It's cheating. Let's see if Uniden will do a better job replacing the Bearcat 980SSB with a great Bearcat AM/FM/SSB 11 mete radio.
I’ve only ever really used plain AM. What would the benefits be between USB and LSB? Meaning, comparing USB against LSB, is one of those better than the other generally?
Dynamic mic better if you walk windy, it dont cuth so very trash around you. Electret mic sound much better but wind, truck engine and and other shit more sensitive
Those are not the best radios the best radio is the rci 2950dx mobile I have talked to thousands and thousands of people on the CB band and the 10 meter band those president radios are not worth buying 73s

@ironhead320 The pre FCC version is a firecracker, the FCC version is a dog. 😢
Nice channel good information too. We talked today on 27.465 lsb I am 319 North Carolina and you sounded good on my receiver :).
Great talking with you! That old Cobra was sounding good. Nice coast to coast DX. 73s
Some nice features. I recently purchased the Lincoln 2 plus . I would have considered this unit as well.
Have had mine few weeks. Good radio

You might've mentioned, does it have talkback? Thank you for the education and a great video.
I only buy exports. Love them!!!
The board in the McKinley 2 is the same board as in the EU., but missing some parts.
I’ve only ever really used plain AM. What would the benefits be between USB and LSB? Meaning, comparing USB against LSB, is one of those better than the other generally?
On the inside it reminds me of a Bearcat 980
So you can do gmrs on that radii ?
Dear friend where buy President Mc Kinley II FCC ?
Can the clarifier be tied through transmit and receive all the time?
It likely can be modded by a shop but FCC certified radios generally don't have this feature.
Is ham pic. Required for the FM?
Where is the AM dead key adjustment pot on the board? I have been able to identify all the others except this one.
Hummm,smoke
Any word on an expansion mod for more frequency and power?? (Clip the white wire....etc) thanks great video.
The fcc versions have none of that
Looks like a miniature IC-718, w/o the keypad.
how to unlock the export version ?
Do you have popular communication March 1991?
Full 10 and 11 meter bands ?
Can you unlock the clarifier
not McKINELY but McKINLEY-hello,i think a bad typo was made-best regards from Poland-73! and see You on the bands...
Holy smokes not sure how I missed that :) Thank you, I might show up in more searches now lol
Is anyone using FM in the USA?
2024 the mckinley III is dmr compatible with tone scan
Does the McKinley II Am/FM also have the RF Power feature to lower the deadkey?
If you zoom into the video (at least on mobile) or do a Google image search you would see that the lower left knob says RF power
Yes
Thanks for sharing!!!

a newbie here, what's the difference between a dynamic & an electret mic?
Dynamic mic better if you walk windy, it dont cuth so very trash around you. Electret mic sound much better but wind, truck engine and and other shit more sensitive
...& what does "EMG" stand for please?
Emergency
Looks cheap like a $87.54 Radio. 😱
and in fact you can buy two new Alinco dx10 or Superstars for the price of the mckinley II. Its stupidly expensive.
@@xszl The McKinley II is $219, where can you buy 2 NEW Alinco DX10 for $219? They were $200+ each new.
Surface mount. Worth every penny. Stable ssb.. not old galaxy junk and I own galaxy too
@@DoubledsccreepingtomMost cbers prefer the drifty galaxy crap because "it lowd on AM!" 😂😂😂😂
