I am thinking of going there on a camp tour. Only draw is the ever lasting conflict in the mainland Yemen. When I know the starvation is happening there, I am hesitant to soehd money on my pleasure. May the eternal peace come back to Yemen.

This is AMAZING. Socotra such a beautiful place. I never know about Socotra island until I watch this documentary. Although socotra island not that well connected with the rest of the world, but experiencing on hand there, really an eye opening for the potential of amazing discovery and exploration. This place seems incredible. Are there any cultural norms one should be aware of? For example, swimwear during scuba diving or visiting the beach, public behaviour etc?
I think wearing full legged pants and full sleeve no cleavage showing clothes will be needed, wearing full covering swim wear will also help. Not looking directly in the eye to prevent touts from scamming you etc. maybe carry scarves to cover heads for women and hats for men should be an added plus. This is more Asian conservative measures but I am sure will work there as well since it doesn’t oprmote any misunderstanding

I think wearing full legged pants and full sleeve no cleavage showing clothes will be needed, wearing full covering swim wear will also help. Not looking directly in the eye to prevent touts from scamming you etc. maybe carry scarves to cover heads for women and hats for men should be an added plus. This is more Asian conservative measures but I am sure will work there as well since it doesn’t oprmote any misunderstanding
