The more I use Obsidian, the more I love it and want to learn more about it. The more I love Obsidian, the more I love your content. Thank you for always showing us that more can be done with Obsidian even when we start to feel like we've seen it all. I have tried many note-taking apps and I am satisfied with Obsidian and how modular it is, especially when you know how to code. Obsidian's future looks bright in my opinion and so does that of your channel. Keep it up, Nicole.

It’s absurd how much value Dataview adds to Obsidian. In fact, I would never have started using Obsidian in the first place if it didn’t exists (I’m sure I’m not alone)

Agreed! Dataview is so essential for me. Anything that helps me find notes is essential IMO.

    Oh man I love dataview
I was already creating databases for my notes manually so having it done automatically is such a lifesaver 😭

Great to hear! I am loving it too! I never thought I needed a database for notes, but here we are. :)

How do you not have more subs? Love your well structured and informative content. And I think that you can very well use these plugins for more than games, but using it the way you do is a good way to test and inspire to use elsewhere. The map thing for ex. you use it in RPG to show where characters are etc. but you could very well use it to showcase workflow, network structure or any other visualization of flow on map. Same thing with the other plugins, use them for RPG to learn how they work and use them in work to be smarter than everyone else at work :D

Totally agree with your number one. Dataview is VERY powerful for this type of App. I also love the Table auto formatter. That is SOOOO handy when using excel and email tables.

Thanks. Great content and delivery as usual. Dataview #1 by far -- it is THE reason I went all in on Obsidian.

I’m very new to obsidian and I’ve been watching a ton of your videos! What theme do you use? I really like it!

Nicole 1st of all thanks for all enhancing my experience with Obsidian and taking notes in general!
2nd do you feel the need to keep track of all the data types you create in your YAML frontmatter in a note or an index of sorts? Or there is an automated way of consulting them?
    Thanks!

Leaflet looks like it could be useful to make "hotspots" on anatomy pictures.

Nicole, what are your thoughts about the benefits of the plugins and the concept of atomic notes? How good for the future is to use those plugins everywhere?

Hey! We each get to decide for ourselves where we draw the line and what we're comfortable with. Personally, I do gravitate towards plugins that automate the creation of notes in a standard format. For example, Periodic Notes makes it easier to create regular reviews, but if it went away, the notes are still there, and so are the templates. Or as another example, Excalidraw makes it easy to draw within Obsidian, but even if it were to go away, the PNG files I generated with it would still be there as well.
Plugins like Dataview are a different story, but I've thought about it and I'm ok with the risk because even if I would lose the queries themselves, the frontmatter in my notes would still be parseable, and I know I could write a script to recreate any important queries. Maybe if I didn't know how to code, I would feel differently. That's my take on it, anyway. :)

Great list. Are you angry with Wizards of the Coast? I've seen a lot of this from some parties. Love and light.

I like your content and your character! You are a cool person.
Anyway, has anybody tips how to get a better organization of your notes like in OneNote or Notion? I like to easily adjust and sort them in a partially 3D space as my brain works like this. So far, I only use dataview and tags. Thereby, I can create lists of my notes, which is not what I actually would like to have.

Hey, I was following your guides on youtube on Obsidian. One thing I would like to ask is - how do you change the place of the title of the note? No matter how I tried, I can't put metadata before the title and if I try to change the tile using ^#, I can't put those characters inside the title field.

    • @nicolevdh
      @nicolevdh  Год назад +1

Hey! You don't put the metadata before the filename/title-- it's just that I disabled the filename being displayed, and have a heading with the title after the metadata, so it looks like I've put the metadata before it. In reality, the metadata/frontmatter is still just the very top of the note. :)
