Love you guys. You are the best. Great pictures of the Shooting Stars. When you have enough time to get a way you should hit the coast then head north into Oregon. Oregon has some amazing coastline, and not so dry and dusty as California.
We're definitely making our way up that way! We're planning to camp by the dunes and drive the outback in the sand! Our next trip will be up next Thursday👍

How was the fly situation when you went? I heard it can get annoying sometimes.
They went away when the wind was really strong but one of the days, it was really warm and there were a lot of them around our car. We have a rear awning for the rear hatch with screens all around that saved us. I highly recommend having some sort of screen or else it wouldn't have been enjoyable for us.
Do you know if the road is currently open?
Unfortunately, I think it's still closed. There are still great spots to camp up there if you can get lucky.

No it isn't. We recorded this adventure a couple months back.
Can you tell me what trail you took? We went yesterday and the trail we took to get there was closed
We took the Naciemeto-Fergusson rd trail up the the mountain ridge. We kind of found it by accident because we too ran into a couple of dead ends and private roads that were ininaccessible. We kept driving around up in the mountain ridges and found a spot off the main trail that didn't block the main road.
