- Hey guys, we are in the pits with Lenny Lottig's and Jesse Alexander's COPO's to see what its like between qualifying. We also make a quick run over to the Ford camp.
maannn … “Grumpy’s Toy” … all I need is “Sox and Martin” to take me waay back!
That’s badass. Thanks for the closeups
Well...that just made my day! TY!
Thanks for sharing this video with us
A Haas decal is on the rear side windows oi all of his Drag cars. A genius of a businessman to be in the sport of drag racing this long.
I had a pre street 73 Vega fast back. 350 ci around 350 horse..2 speed auto. Was a blast on the street 1/4 mile at a time.
Nice big money Kenny
Oh my gawd! I guess (at 69yrs old!)
I haven't been paying close enough attention! FX class?
Wow! Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't an SB2 small block? With shaft rockers all in a straight line! No 'canted valve' DRCE (the WJ developed big block engine) in sight!
Fantastic post! I have been semi out of the race engine loop apparently.
And you say these engines 'could' be as fast as the Pro Stockers with the right pulleys? Obviously, pulley size is everything in an NA (naturally aspirated) engine!
Back in the early 70s while in high school
as die hard BowTie fans, we would return to HS after a big weekend NHRA event(that we'd heard about somewhere) and laugh when da Grump out foxed the S&M team with their huge 426 elephant Hemi! He would buzz those SBC's to unheard of rpm's in his Vega, and Camaro cars. And this was when the P/S class was written into the rule book!!
Sorry for the huge comment...but thanks for the excellent post!
PS appreciate and understand uour consideration of the crew while filming!
I recall in 71 standing a few feet from the Army Funny car of Don Prudhomme while he tugged with all his might on the fiberglasd body to try and fit even wider slicks on bcuz our high altitude(2800')
strip in Boise wouldn't hold the power he was making even in those prehistoric years! OMFG!
Broke my ohone smashing the subscribe button!
No worries on a long comment. The engine is an 350 LSX Supercharged. It is the same engine that comes in the COPO's They could easily make 1600hp plus. The cars weigh 2600lbs and can only run a 10 inch tire. Its a very cool class, like pro stock should be. A link to the COPO specs.

Bob and Etta Glidden … the cornerstones of Pro Stock. “When racing was more family than corporate.”
Sorry, my brain is going ape! What rear end and gear ratio are these cars limited to? 4.10, 5.57 or some other ridiculous ratio?
Again, thanks!
I m not sure the rear gear they are running, but they are not limited to gear ratio.
What is tire size ?
They are 33x10.50, they do measure a little wider, but not nearly enough for these cars to hook hard.
@ClassRacercom 33x10.5 is HUGE.
28 x 10.5 would be cooler
Love that you have access to their pits and let us come along. Thanks immensely!
"Just like Pro Stock" except for the blowers. The FX cars are so superior to the current PS Chevrolet parade but I don't think we'll again see racing like the early days. Time marches on.
