  • It's time to get on the road and leave Bangkok once again. Today I am preparing for my biggest Thailand motorbike tour. This will be a 1-2 month motorcycle tour to parts of Thailand that I have never visited. Join me as I go shopping for some essential riding gear, share the details of my upcoming trip and do some general riding in crazy Bangkok traffic. The open road beckons and my trusty Honda ADV 160 is ready for my longest and most challenging trip yet in the country of Thailand. The bike has been serviced, but I need a new helmet and gloves. The monsoon rainy season will make this trip my most difficult yet, as I expect to be doing a fair amount of riding in the rain. Today I am gathering some necessary safety gear for the upcoming trip. If you like my past motorbike trips, I have a really big one planned. Let's go!

    Be safe on your trip, Serg. Don't drive at night believe me. Those 10 wheelers are hardwoking people they're prone to doze off and run over some motorcycle this' no joke.
    Your heat tolerance is impressive, Serg. Now I believe that Russians have great tolerance for both extreme cold and heat! The weather gets hotter each year it got average 10 degrees rise from the last 4 decades. I got to hide from heat in air-con room all the time myself. Kudos to you who can ignore the excessive temperature. Don't forget to keep yourself hydrated either.

    • @LifewithSerg
      @LifewithSerg  23 дня назад +2

      Haven’t been born in Russia I am definitely much more accustomed to the cold weather. I don’t do well in hot environments, but believe it or not when I’m writing I’m OK. Even on the hottest days, because I wear full gear, it keeps my skin protected, so I don’t get sunburned and heat exhaustion.
      I absolutely do not write at night in this country. Unfortunately, the drivers in Thailand are some of the worst I’ve ever seen anywhere in the world. So I typically avoid nighttime. This should be a really fun adventure. I feel will be filled with quite a few challenges because of the rainy season, and I’m looking forward to working my way through it.

    Plenty of Thai delivery riders use 25-baht glove made in China. After one year, they just buy a new pair. It is stretchy and comfortable. I use them for my long bike trip pedalling as well.

    • @LifewithSerg
      @LifewithSerg  18 дней назад

    Great video Serg! I might see you on the road, I;m thinking of heading up to Isaan in a few weeks. I've hurt my ankle though, depends how it is in a few weeks.
    I bought a pair of really good Italian made gloves for about 5,000 baht. They didn't quite last 6 months because of the heat humidity and worse the constant sweating in them. But that was a reasonable amount of riding, about 10,000km in just under 6 months.

    • @LifewithSerg
      @LifewithSerg  23 дня назад

      Yeah you got good use out of those gloves! I’ve still got some minor ankle issues from a twist I incurred on a hike 3 years ago. Get yourself a good ankle brace, will help you invoice it and heal up. Get one with cross straps so you came immobilize it well.

    Good to see you enjoying two wheels in Bangkok. I plan to move there later this year sadly leaving the RT1250 behind and will most likely get myself an ADV 350. I will be interested to see if you decide to get into a 500 they're a great bike but I imagine the filtering will be more difficult. Look forward to your next video.

    • @LifewithSerg
      @LifewithSerg  18 дней назад +1

      One of the main reasons I didn’t buy the ADV 350 is that it’s just a fat bike. Living in Bangkok it would be much more difficult to use with all the crazy traffic. There are so many options for bikes here, I’m sure you’ll find something you enjoy. I probably won’t buy another bike until the end of the year or early next year. They typically have really good deals at the large motor shows, so I might wait for that.

When I get time I'll think of some places you may or may not want to visit etc, already seen some suggestions, Phu Chi Fa and The Black House Museum.
    Also great to see you upgrading your safety. Like the immersive view from the 360° camera.
    You're going to hate my next suggestion lmao but a drone on this trip would really come into it's own, spectacular scenery where you're about to your. Take it easy matey from a fellow Red White and Blue lover 🇹🇭🇺🇲🇬🇧

      Some of those bikes are just a little too big to ride around in Bangkok and they’re quite powerful. Once you get out of the big cities, medical services are very sparse. Well at least quality medical services. The last thing I want is to have an accident on some back road. So I prefer to have a smaller slower bike. I should be leaving on my trip in 2 to 3 weeks, I still have a lot of planning to do

    Hi Serg! Glad to hear you are adventuring north.
    I'm in Chum Phae and if you need to stay there the best hotel is the Cheewin. The other options are not great. There is a Lotuss on the #201 road south, and a Makro on the #12 road going west. The (8) Caladonia Bar and Restaurant on Walking Street is very welcoming, and every Friday the street is transformed into a market. Just be careful of the rain! Of course 7-Eleven are everywhere.
    For attractions, east of Phitsanulok is (1) Sappraiwan Elephant Resort, then (2) Wat Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew said to be one of the most beautiful temples in Thailand. At (3) Phu Pha Man, in the evenings at a distance you can see the vampire bats emerge from their cave to feed.
    To the north is (4) Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum, but there are no Velociraptors :( In that area are a number of other temples and some waterfalls, but I haven't ventured that far myself.
    A great place to stop for some food is (5) The Food Garden which has a sign with a prawn on it.
    There's not a lot to the south of interest. Going further east at Khon Kaen is the (6) Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon temple with 9 levels to climb. And for some food (7) the Aura Cafe is great.
    If I can help more please let me know. Would love to meet!
