A interesting fact is that "Renoir" was a famous french painter from 19th & early 20th century. Based on that, the character in the game might be quite involved (in good or bad) with the antagonist (the paintress). If we listen to the music used in the trailer, we can hear lyrics: "continuer à t'aimer, continuer de peindre, tendre la main et t'implorer, reviens" which can be translated as "Continue to love you, continue to paint, reach out and beg you, come back." Maybe these lyrics are based on Renoir feelings to the Paintress ^^ Gustave the engineer is surely a reference to Gustave Eiffel, the engineer who has built the Eiffel tower.
The way my French soul loves all these names...☺️ Sciel's name is more than likely promounce 'see-L'...the French word for 'sky'. Renoir is a prominent French painter, pronounced 'Ruhn-war' (like car) Both Rs are rolled when pronounced in French, though not usually in English.. You pronounced la Belle Époque quite well...🥰 This game looks lovely...🥰
As a French native speaker you are correct about pronunciation, except for the Rs, 99% of french people are incapable of rolling Rs. They never do. It’s not part of the language. It’s more like an harsh r from the throat. The only reason I can roll Rs is because I was born and raised in France but from Spanish family (which indeed roll the Rs). Agree about the game tho, looks very promising. French speakers are happy about the recent announcement of full localized French (even dubbing).
Oh, I've known about this one for a few months. It made an impression. Thanks for covering it, IMO it can't get attention enough. I'm an old jaded gamer, but this one really managed to get me hyped. Who would've thought. It's 2024, and there is a game that looks new and original, and also attempts some original gameplay.
Been following this game since the first reveal, and then last week they announced the voice performers. Jenn English (shadowheart) being in this projects is a BIG plus.
@@kalicula7718 in a genre where there are a lot of dialogue and characters yapping, a good voice actor is 50% responsible for letting the storytelling hit
I'm very much looking forward to this game, already had my eye on it since the first reveal trailer. The art direction looks amazing, and the combat looks like a mix between Final Fantasy and Persona, while also keeping timed inputs from games like Chrono Trigger and the Mario RPG series. Seems like it's right up my ally. Great deep dive into this game, Wolf!
Reminds me of Ico or Shadow of the Colossus. Not in game-play necessarily, but in it's almost fable-like premise. This will have more dialogue of course, but it's still very dreamy and the tone feels the same too. I dont follow a lot of game news, so this is the first I have heard, thanks Wolf.
chiaroscuro is an italian word, you pronounced it correctly btw! I've put this game in my wishlist a couple of days ago, I've seen an ad here on RUclips: "mmm first game of the studio? let's keep my peepers open"😂 story seems interesting and I'm curious about the combat & gameplay! Also, Ben Starr?! Yay! I really like his voice, I watch him on Natural Six :) thank you for the informations as always Wolf ❤ have a nice day
I've followed this game for a bit, I'm super excited to learn the voice actors! I can't wait for the release of this game. Thank you for a another amazing video Wolf! ❤️
Going to be hard to imagine the BG3 Voice Actors in almost any other role (unless, they differentiate their voice a lot) since they did such a stupendous job in BG3. The brief moment we saw of Jennifer English in this game sounded almost exactly like Shadowheart.
I wasn't sure about this game on announcement. But when the character trailer released with the voice cast announced, I watched it on my PS5 and I was finally able to appreciate the art style. Also, 90% of the video is the female party members running around which also helped.
This looks very appetizing. Hopefully my older rig can run it without frying. Epic fantasy concepts about humanity and all-powerful beings' whims? Sign me up.
As a Dragon Age fan, I am looking forward to this much more than I do to Veilguard. This game looks fantastic and I hope the writing and other aspects will be just as good as it looks.
This has been on my radar for months. I am so hyped about this game. I cant wait for it to be out. The graphics story combat all look interesting. Spring cant come soon enough for me
I must admit I’m uncertain about how the combat system will pan out. BG3 has completely converted me from ‘I don’t do turn based” to “I have no interest in pressing buttons quickly” (RIP my existing game library, I guess) and I struggle to imagine how hybrid systems can work - it feels to me like there’s a risk of trying to please everyone but pleasing no one instead. That said - the story idea, voice performances and art style for this look pretty captivating, based on what I’ve seen so far, so this might be the one that gets me to give hybrid systems a try
I've been following this game for a while and this is probably one of the best videos about it. Randomly at the same time I also heard about how Bioware is delaying your review code about your honest opinions and that made me sick. Keep doing what your doing. I happily subscribe and I'm looking forward to more Expedition 33 videos and more.
I'm very exited for this fight system. Last time I experienced turn based + real time inputs is a hidden gem on GC/PS2 Gladius. I replay it a lot. Never found anything similar in 20+ years
Im not too much into the JRPG style of games but this game is on my radar for next year. The casting is nuts we got Daredevil, Smeagol/Gollum, Clive Rosfield, Shadowheart, Laezel and Jaheira actors in it!! I wasnt into CRPGS but i am currently at 1500 hours plus in BG 3
I'll see how this game runs on your stream wolf. Really need to see something that sets it apart from other games. To Obscure is to hide from seeing or the light. I love the concept of Light vs dark and in art that's what make colours pop. Need to see in depth gameplay!
I really like the narrative premise here. Could make for some cool character development and a deep sense of camaraderie. And it sets a somber mood right from the get go.
I just hope that all these BG3 actors are asking for an equity cut or a big fat paycheck for appearing in games after this, because (for example) Jennifer English's presence alone in this will drive a huge chunk of their sales! (It does look like a great game and story so far)
There can still be old people in the world. The "curse" would skip an age as it counts down. Here, it would destroy everyone aged 33. The next year, it will destroy everyone aged 32, which is everyone aged 31 in the current year. Everyone aged 32 currently would get skipped.
I dig the concept. I like turn based and like action games as long as they are not dodge right now a million times in a fight games (like Elden Ring). Count me intrigued and likely to check it out.
Looks really interesting. Art style is really nice, normally not a fan of turn base combat i don't dislike it too much either. I would gladly give it a try once it's out.
Ngl, this looks better than DA Veilguard and I don't mean just graphic wise but tone wise, remember DA used to be Dark Fantasy. Also this game is basically what happens when you make Persona on Unreal 😂
Thanks for watching Don! Yea it will be interesting to see if they offer custom settings for the timing windows (or if they tie these mechanics directly to different difficulty levels).
I hope I finish my first BG3 run before this comes out (not much game time, 150 hours in, cleared Rivington). I was hyped the moment I saw the trailer in the xbox showcase this summer
I've been mildly hyped since the announcement. I think it looks great, and though I'm confused some on the premise (wouldn't it be every other 'year' of people getting wiped out?), overall I really love the base idea. I'm waiting for reviews, as always (never pre-order!), but it's on my wishlist.
The game looks really good. The facial animations are top-notch, not super hyper realistic, but that in-between really nails it, so you dont get that uncanny valley. Bringing back turn based final fantasy thays a nice break. The characters look well-done, and there is definitely a nod to final fantasy in a European fantasy type setting good presentation. This is definitely on my radar.
This game probably take inspiration from the Shadow Heart series of old, and as such a much play for me! Currently chewing on Metaphor and love it so much! It seems like the era of turn-base RPG finally back guys!! Hope Square enix finally see some sense and make a proper FF game worthy of FFX successor too 😅
You should try to play Final Fantasy XVI, Ben Starr is amazing acting there. Its a pretty approachable game for guys like you that doesnt like JRPG aesthetic(you should try, this genre its amazing).
I've had my eye on this one since it was announced. It looks interesting and quite unique as far as the premise goes.
likewise. only thing i dont like is the standing still stiff animations when not in combat.

Awesome
Wow, so what if the Paintress is not a person but a result of a painting herself
I picked up on the Renoir connection, thought it was funny hearing Wolfhearts pronunciation of the name
Devora announced on her instagram she’s also a voice actor in this game. I’m betting she’s the villain which would be cool.
Oh cool!
Thank you for this information! I was hooked by the story snd really hooked that Jennifer was in it. Now Devora?!? I'm 1000% playing now.
Wait. We have Clive, Shadowheart and LAE'ZEL too!? If this wasn't already on my wishlist, I'd be running to put it there.

This is literally what I was hoping Dragon Age 4 would look like. Beautiful environments, and characters with unique creature designs 😊
Sadly it never will, while under rainbow cultist activists

I’ve been glued to Metaphor Refantazio so you can’t sign me up fast enough to a game like this
This feels like a spiritual successor to Lost Oddysey and Im so here for it cus I absolutely loved that system!
Yes, it reminds of LO as well. Stunning visuals. Reactive turn-based like the Ring system. Still playing LO till today wishing for a remastered.
That game looks incredible! I hope it’s good because I’d love to play something like that.
This game actually looks really good. I already have it in my wishlist.
I'm definitely intrigued. Followed it on Steam and I hope to see more coverage from you in the future!
Voice cast talent is OG BG3! At the very least, it would be great to hear some beloved voices in a cool JRPG type game.
Nothing like making every combat a QTA experience. My favorite.
