Hello! I recently purchased this tripod, and your video from two years ago was incredibly helpful. I just wanted to say thank you so much for posting it, and please keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate that you came back and shared your experience. This tripod has been quite timeless for me too. And Yes, I certainly will!😃
Great review, no fluff or wasting time, just covering features and giving an unbiased opinion, I also like the fact that you have a good rate of speech and dont speak slowly like some other reviewers. You just go through the info in a concise manner. I went ahead and got this based on your review. Thanks for the informative video. 6:55 when you got fingers smashed in it ...I can completely relate 🤣 Liked & Subscribed.
🤣Yeah, that fingers part sucks. Btw, you will enjoy using this. Up to today, this and the MT-79 are my favorite tripods. Very light and can go high enough! Infact the new MT-44 can go up to 148cm which is awesome for the price and quality.
Thanks a lot for the video. I've been looking for this kind of info to decide which selfie stick with tripod functinality to buy for my action cam. I'm going for the MT-44. Keep up the good work! Greetings from Belgium.
Ha ha, I did exactly the same mistake. Mistakes opening the tripod and trapped my finger. It hurts! Thanks for the excellent review very helpful with me setting it up for the first time. I’m looking forward to Touring Southeast Asia in 2025 using this.
Hi, great review. I have a question, I'm concern on the phone mount. I used before those spring mount like this, usually is very tight & not so stable. What is your opinion on this? Should i get a separate phone holder to add on like the ST-26?
Thanks! I think it is stable enough as it is part of the ballhead but yes it will be abit tight but it is not bad enough to justify me getting a seperate phone mount to put on top of it. Hope this helps :)
Love your very detail videos! I would like to ask if you think this tripod is not wobbly and compatible for Fujifilm X-T5 with 50mm lens? Thank you☺️🙏🏼
Thanks! You will have to check its weight. If you watch my MT-44 vs MT-54 video you will notice that it will sink due to weight. Generally, i wont even put my apsc camera on it for too long, it is best for compact camera or kit lenses only.
Nice review. Can this hold a fujifilm XT5 with grip. Its a bit heavy but I want to travel light with a tripod. Or do you have any other recommendation. Ty
Yes it will be able to but will be shaky fully extended. Up to 80% of the height it will be fine. Another 2 alternatives are the MT-79 or the SK-04 (More stable)
hi, great vdeo. the handle looks big. want to buy it, but wondering if its too big for my hand. can you measure the diameter of the handle please? thanks again
i was able to get ulanzi upad, i tried to put my ipad pro 12.9 in mt 44, unfortunately it cannot carry the weight of my ipad attached in ulanzi upad…i think mt 44 was designed for phones and camera or small tablet but not on bigger ones
Hello, Everyone 🙂 Does anyone know if it becomes wobbly at its tallest with Canon M50 and perhaps a Tofu Light, not limited to when it is windy? For its phone clamp, would it fit iPhone 14 Pro Max with a UAG case? Thanking you all so much 🙂
Yes, it will be wobbly with accessories on it when it is highest. For phone, the mount has a clip distance from 6-8cm. Your iPhone without the casing is 7.9cm it is possible.
Yes it can but I wouldn't recommend it as the head might rotate if not tightened well. If you can bare with the possibility of it happening then go ahead
Great video ! I have a normal tripod, but when I'm out and about I end up bringing too much stuff, so I fancy getting a small tripod instead. This MT-44 seems perfect .. the only problem is that I already have a phone clamp (actually the metal Ulanzi one) which i think is better than the one on this tripod. Are there any other similarly sized mini tripods with a ball head only. thanks !
Thanks Brian! In terms of form factor the next closest is the SK-04, but when it comes to weight and sturdiness for its size i think its hard to beat this one.
only downside of these super compact ones is that they need flat ground to set up on, but otherwise, it looks like you get a pretty solid pod for the size and price!
Hi James, great review. Would like to check if the ball head is removable in any way? As I currently have the Ulanzi Hummingbird quick release ball head and would like to replace it with that. If not, is there any similar tripod with the same specifications and price that you would recommend? Thanks!
Unfortunately, the ball head is not removable. I would recommend the ULANZI SK-04, it is just like the gizomos tripod which i use to replace this which can go really high and infact more stable than this one. Hope this helps :)
@@Jameses Hey James, I'm looking at pictures of the SK04 tripod online and it seems like the ballhead is secured onto the tripod quite well. Just to confirm if it's removable?
No it is not but your humming bird quick release will fit on it with the 1/4 inch. If you really want the head to be removable in the ulanzi line i think only the MT-11 can do that, if not you would have to go up higher to the standard tripod line. Which i will recommend the Sirui T024x that i recently reviewed on. Usually mini tripods hardly have this feature haha

Thanks! Well, if it is windy and your setup is on the heavier side i would suggest getting a regular 3 legged tripod instead. I just tried filming in a windy condition with it and it does wiggle quite abit when fully extended but not so much if it is partially extended. But if your setup is like an a6400 + kit lens or sony zv-1 and it is not windy, it shouldn't be a problem.

I tried shooting a timelapse for a home video and it messed it up. I had to hold it with my hands to stabilise it and of course the footage is shaky and it shows. So take these comments into consideration before you buy it. For me this purchase was wasted money. I could have used my joby tripod instead and find places to give it the height that it’s missing.

Would you recommend it for small cameras like canon m50 or sony ZV?
Yes, i totally would. I used it with my ZV-1 all the time.
Hey, great video. Can you tell me if the ball head screws off the tripod itself and also the dimensions of the base of the ball head please. Cheers!
Thanks Claire! No it doesn't, i wished it did :(
You can look at the MT-11 if you want a removable ballhead
Thanks for the comprehensive review man, i really need this tripod ! Cheers !
Glad it was helpful! :)
What is the diameter of the ball in the ball joint, and can the ball be removed?
No, it cannot be removed.
Thank you for this video!! It’s SO helpful!
Glad to help! :)
Can it handle a phone on a portrait mode? Because my Ulanzi MT-08 keeps falling when i put my phone on the side to capture portrait videos
Yes it can, the MT-08 is like the most basic of tripods. The MT-11 is much more sturdier therefore able to handle much more weight.
@Jameses Thank you so much for your response and this great review.
No problem! 👍
Can it support ZV E10 II mirrorless camera?
with a light lens like the kit 16-50mm or 50mm 1.8 yes. Heavier, no.
Is the MT44's phone holder is removeable?
No it isn't, my latest video you will see that :)
How to activate the camera remote switch?
This tripod doesn't come with bluetooth remote. If it is in a bundle, the way to connect it will be quite easy to figure out.
