I've been coming to Eugene for Oregon football since the 1963 Civil War game (Oregon won 31-14) During those first few years all of Oregon's home games were played on Hayward field(Autzen was built in 67) Except for 73-77 (I was in the military) I've been to at least one Oregon Ducks home game every year since that 1963 game. Over the years I've seen a lot of great players, great teams, and great games. (not to mention great uniforms :o) Some of the best players were Kenny Wheaton, Ahmad Rashad, Arik Armstead, Ed Dickson, Josh Huff, Jeff Maehl, Akeli Smith, Bill Musgrave, Jonathan Stewart, Haloti Ngata, Dan Fouts, LaMichael James, Legarrette Blount, Patrick Chung, and Royce Freeman. There are plenty of other great Oregon players, but you get the drift. Of all the Oregon players I've seen there must be one that I feel is the very best. That player is Marcus Mariota. Mariota has the talent and ability to change anyone's perception of the role of the quarterback. If it's a running down watchout, Mariota may run it. If it's a passing down Mariota can deliver, and on the numbers. Marcus is still a young man and he's getting better every year. Anyone who knows football knows Marcus Mariota will have an exceptional career. Mahala Marcus! Go Ducks!
This random girl came over to watch this game in my dorm room, freshman year in college in southeast Minnesota. Now she's my wife and a doctorate student at the University of Oregon and we're going on 2 years married. Time flies. Sco Ducks.
The rebuilding is underway. This year is the first time in 3 years our Ducks are back in the top 25. They made it to #11 this year, but I expect them to win the PAC 12 next season. Friggin QUACK!
Melvin Gordon should have won the Heisman that year. Mariota had a great year against sub-par pac12 defenses, but Gordon's year was among the greatest of all-time.
None of the wide receivers in the video were available to play in the NC. Carrington was suspended, but the rest were injured. I wonder how they would have played if they were available.
LeAndre Arnold all their top wide receivers where out they had injuries to key players all over the place, the team in the video and the team that played OSU are very different
They couldn't tackle Ezekiel Elliot so it wouldn't of mattered. Oregon couldn't tackle well the years there offense was good. Luckily Cristobal is making us more of a powerful team. Instead of just trying to outscore teams. I can't remember a time Oregon has beat Stanford 21 to 6 and looked so dominant doing it. Usually it would of had to be 55 35 or something. But if we hold Cal out of the end zone this team is dangerous.
@@johnstover4584 He's bringing a needed toughness that Oregon hasn't had before. I hope he is the coach for many years, but we all know the Ducks need a new offensive coordinator as the current (and antiquated) system is not going to yield any national championships.
just loved living in oregon arond that time period it was sweet . Started the new look nike came with, Phil Knight. Plus a lot of good team players good times!
@@brandonharris9212 Yeah, it was a good time to be a duck fan. I know this is a Mariota video but I always loved watching LaMichael James run the ball. His speed was elite but it was his vision that made records in a three year career that took Freeman four years to break. Mariota only started three years too I think and many of his records still stand.
ya at least mariota did more in the NFL but both duck players all the way so love for that. Hopefully we will still see some more gang green clones once again , lol
I remember watching football with my dad on Saturday nights, 4 years of my life I watched Marcus and I remember watching the heisman award.. miss those days
In opinion, he sealed the heisman when he escaped the pocket even though Arizona did everything right on defense and found Carrington for a big gain, setting up his 101st touchdown pass, on the PAC-12 Championship game.
Back in the days when MM had an o-line that could block for him and receivers that could catch balls. Getting tired of watching him carry the Titans every year and blaming himself for losses, when it's usually everyone else around him that can't pull their own weight.
Honestly I went to many oregon games when mariota was leading the ducks. He didn’t look as impressive in person as he does on tv and after he spent a couple years in the NFL, it became apparent that he was a perfect fit for Oregon and deserving of the heisman. He’s still outperforming Jamis Winston years after the fiesta bowl ass whoopin that FSU took from Oregon. OOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
His Heisman year was a Top 5 NCAA Quarterback season of all time. If they had won the National Title it may well be looked at as the best single season of all time.
I completely hate the Chargers, but I've been saying this for months now and obviously it's an unpopular opinion, but Herbert is gonna be the best quarterback from this year's Draft and be an incredible QB in the league. I could just see it.
