I never understood that tho. You have the license, so you have their residence, why not just get warrants and get them later, instead of creating such dangerous road hazards.
@@kysfinest The problem is that you don't have an ID of the driver. Is the car stolen? is the license plate stolen? Was the car loaned to someone other than the registered owner? The police officer does not know who is driving to just go for them later.

That pit comment reminded me of a chase I saw some years ago. In the Denver metro area (don't remember the exact city) a rookie was certified in the pit and the other officers weren't as it was a newish thing. During a chase they were coming up to a long overpass and they gave the rookie authorization to do it. He executed it perfectly in front of a news helicopter on top of the overpass. It was a beautiful move. The news agencies reported that a rookie did it as he was certified and trained while the other officers weren't and as such the other officers were rapidly trained on the procedure.
Ive always wondered if there have been many instances where the pursuing officer or officers run out of gas before they're able to stop the vehicle lol.
Interesting to hear this from a cops perspective. I was a stupid kid when I lived in the high desert of CA, years ago. My friends and I used to run from cops just because we didn't think they could catch us. I remember going way too fast down a dirt road in rough terrain, thinking "there's no way he's still behind me". Well, that cop could really drive and almost got us. If cop cars were AWD back then, I probably would have been arrested. That was the last time I ever ran. Now I just politely take my speeding ticket and move on.

Tfs. I can't stand when I'm watching chases or cop involved shooting or stops and in the comment section there's always someone demeaning cops and what they do and talking about why cop did this or that and I go off telling them if they know what your job is why aren't they a cop? I get angry when people talk b.s. about you.. so thank you for everything you do.
Cynthia Rosario A woman after my own heart do their job, put up with the bullshit they put up with then afterwards that person can say something because they been there otherwise they need to STFU😁
Along these lines, do you have guidelines for when you have to fill your tank? Imagine getting caught in a chase when almost empty. "Canceling the 10--80, could someone bring some spare gas please?" :)
At our department we are taught to never be under half a tank. We check and record the fuel level before each shift along with our other equipment. (reserve here, but I'm sure this is the same for patrol officers). We have a specific credit card and enter our badge number and mileage at the pump each time we fill up.
When driving down the highway, I saw one Taurus driving way ahead with lights blaring, and a convoy of like 12 police cars. Was the Taurus the lead car or what?
I remember the OJ Simpson chase back in the 90s. That was the first chase I remember whether real or fake. Pogs came back into popularity around that time and blade shaped slammers and poison skull were the biggest and my aunt bought my brother a gold colored poison blade slammer with the OJ chase stamped on the back.
Great insight. Growing up as a polywad in Los Angeles, pursuits we're on the news daily. Always entertaining, nice to understand what the 30 vehicles behind are doing. Thought it was always funny when 15 + officers piled on the assailant.
I got a couple of question. So say you get a ticket for something minor like speeding or something between those lines do you tell them you're a cop or is that something you don't tell them if you where to get pulled over? Also dose your department find out if you do get pulled over or get a ticket and if so do you get any punishment in the department?
Here in Washington State we had an officer killed while throwing out spike strips. He was hit by another officer involved in the pursuit. The 3 individuals in the fleeing vehicle hit a pole and were apprehended and charged with several felonies including the death of the officer. So sad for that officers family and for the officer that hit him who was a close personal friend.
I really don't understand why people run. Your outnumbered like crazy and most of the time they got a helicopter overhead as well. Good luck getting away.
Most of the time there is no helicopter. Helicopters are extremely expensive to operate and most jurisdictions can't afford them. If the city/county/state has air support up they've got to get there assuming they aren't already busy. If you can get away a block ahead in the first few minutes you're golden. That's assuming they didn't get the plates or they aren't registered to you.
No helicopter. GTA tactics will end it. Aka, having a helicopter with machine guns on it. Also having a high ranking person in the government as a hostage.

I think a lot you say is bullshit. A cop passed me flying threw a school zone with no lights on. A different cop passed me going threw a 30 mph construction zone without his lights on. I was driving down the interstate and a semi crossed the middle line and hit me with his trailer. I pulled over to the shoulder of the road behind a state trooper. The trooper got out of his car and started yelling at me for parking behind him. I said "did you not see that semi hit me? Look at my vehicle." He looked at my vehicle and said "what did the semi look like." I responded "white Freightliner with a white trailer with green writing on it." His response was "A 1000 of them come threw here a day." He didn't even try to go after the guy. The semi hit me a football field away from where he was sitting. WTF
yeah well some troopers can be goof balls, in both good and bad ways, just in April I had a state trooper who caught me speeding on an expired license let me go lol
Oh, officer401 do a video on muscle cars, modded cars, or sports cars stories you have if any, whether it be them doing something stupid, trying to show off, or even car meets and races! Love the channel!
They're not entirely illegal, it's called citizen's arrest. However, pretending to be Batman isn't the same thing because Batman and other superheroes do not follow the same procedures police officers follow. If police officers did the same thing that superheroes typically do, they would be fired.
LAPD officer here. We simply call it a veh pursuit. Supervisors dont ask our weather conditions since it's mostly always sunny here. Besides that you are on point.
I will never forget this. I'm going 45 miles per hour (speed limit) down,a road. It's close to midnight. I'm heading home after a long day of work. All of the sudden, a car passes me going 90 miles per hour, at least. A few seconds later, a police officer passes me (came out of no where, just like the other car) trying to catch up. Extremely unnerving on a dark road at night.
So just because you’re going to the marines you think you can get out and go straight to swat team like it’s that easy? 😂 you’re not the brightest are you but it’s ok have fun eating crayons
Dont Care and you’re a douche. The worst kind of douche. The one who tries to insult people for asking a question but actually makes themselves look like a douche because you can’t even grammar correctly.
@ Gun Devil look up the agency or department policy prior to the hiring process. Most of them require you work the road/patrol for certain amount of time prior to going to a specialty unit. Military is always a plus but it’s not always going to guarantee the job or you getting selected for swat. Again just do your research and good luck!
In Illinois if you get in a pursuit you have to talk to your regular dispatch and a separate radio for ispern which is used to talk to the Illinois State Police. A lot going on if you're the only officer in the pursuit till other units arrive.
Man.. I'm sorry bro and to my 40yrs vet cop dad. But cops can't drive for shit lmao. Any body with a track license has more xp. Please dont take this as a diss lol I know the vehicle training you guys get but it's not enough. Especially in states where its legal for cops to pursue at high speeds. Take me for example. I have a track license, which means that I can go over the speed limits set for novice and amateur drivers. I can't access speed over 120mph where someone with out can only go highway speeds on the track. They also are not allowed to pass. I have a lot of xp at high speeds. Not just a straight line like but maneuvering with confidence over 100mph. I'm not saying I'm the best driver in the world but I have a lot of seat time at high speeds. Thousands of hrs. I can put my car exactly where I want it through an apex. It an art to be able to make that corner as straight a line as possible. You have to learn the body roll of the car. Have you ever taken any type of turn at around 100mph? You just letting of the gas will spin you. Cops dont have this kinda training. I wish they did. The chases would be much more fun to watch lol
...I'm pretty sure that police chases don't happen to entertain you...police officers aren't race car drivers and the people that they chase aren't either...and seriously? You can out drive police officers because you have a "track license"? Just because you have a track license, it certainly doesn't mean that you can drive faster on the street...dumbass...police officers drive on public streets, and all of the obstacles that entails...driving on a track(a controlled environment) is easy compared to driving on public streets...how many public streets have repeated turns on which you can learn with each pass...how about none...tracks are the same patterns over and over...how many tracks do you know that will throw an unexpected fire truck out in front of you? Or a kid with a ball? Or a dog chasing your car...I can't believe that you actually tried to make your bullshit fly...let's see a video of your next track day where the car in front of you has a thug hanging out the window with an Uzi trying to kill you...
It seem to be entertaining Your Hollywood is at fault Cmon, open your gad dem tv Smokey and bandits Duke And Hazards Not to mention with your corrupt cops movie.
Every driver should hone their skills to the point they have muscle memory to recover from skids, to brake HARD, and to know the limits of their vehicle. So many deaths/injuries could be averted with hands on training that it should be required before getting a license. About 1.2 million people are killed worldwide every year in car crashes, about 36,000 in US alone. Makes the 12,000 gun deaths look minor in comparison.
I was a young driver and was stopped in the middle of a major arterial road in the middle lane. The officer did not like that and ordered me to pull over to the right side. He asked me why I pulled over in the middle lane and I was told by my driving instructor to pull over immediately, don't continue driving to a safer place, stop immediately was my instructions. I was 17 at the time and the officer educated me I am ok to pull over to the right lane or nearest gas bar, or strip mall. Needless to say that driving school is no longer in business for most of it's students failing one key area, driver etiquette.

My father was career law enforcement, I have the utmost respect for you guys.
We try not to let our tanks get below half-full before we fill up again.
My dad used to say it's cheaper to drive on the top half of the tank than the bottom, referring to the pain in the ass of running out of gas.
I thought that would be the case, thanks.
I love your vids! Always looking forward to them and I really appreciate the work you officers do for our country! THANK YOU!
When driving down the highway, I saw one Taurus driving way ahead with lights blaring, and a convoy of like 12 police cars. Was the Taurus the lead car or what?
Thumbnail is of Peel Regional Police cars in Canada!
Love your work 401!
You forgot the 3rd option where the tuners take you to gapplebees
Troopers will chase you until their wheels fall off!! hahahaaahaaha can't stop laughing
That's peel regional police in thumbnail!
Hahahhaha yeah
Saw that too. LOL awesome. Brampton represent! :D
@@youtubasoarus from Bramalea right here 🤟
That's the first thing i noticed before watching the video! I wonder why he chose peel regional police for his thumbnail even i live in Peel.
Lived in Peel for a while...now up in the great white north of Tottenham
My son watches cop stuff any free second he can so he introduced me to your channel. Gotta say it.....I'm in love!!! Dear god!
Do you have to end a chase because you're going to be out of jurisdiction?
No. As long as I saw the crime occur in my jurisdiction, I can chase you to New York if I wanted to
@@officer401 But into Canada/Mexico?
So Smokey and the Bandit is legit?
@@FriedrichHerschel Actually, I've pursued someone from just outside Toronto to Rochester, NY. That was a fun pursuit.
First exposure to officer 401 videos. two thumbs up!
Have you ever thought about writing a book?
I remember the OJ Simpson chase back in the 90s. That was the first chase I remember whether real or fake. Pogs came back into popularity around that time and blade shaped slammers and poison skull were the biggest and my aunt bought my brother a gold colored poison blade slammer with the OJ chase stamped on the back.
Good video awesome video I love it and I hope you stay safe
Troopers will chase you until their wheels fall off. 😂😂
I'm pretty sure what happens is the police drive up behind the suspects, jump on their roof, and pull them out the side windows
Thanks! In my area, most departments block in the suspect and then arrest them
I see them daily. Compton ❤️
i’ve been into police shows and police car videos for few weeks now and definitely considering being a cop one day i find it so cool
We need body cams for proof of police brutality!!
*2 weeks later*
“THEY HAVE BODY CAMS NOW WE DONT HAVE ANY PROOF!”
My dad was chief and to say that there's no brutality is bullshit. He fired several officers for it and it takes a lot to fire a cop.
LMFAO
Great insight. Growing up as a polywad in Los Angeles, pursuits we're on the news daily. Always entertaining, nice to understand what the 30 vehicles behind are doing. Thought it was always funny when 15 + officers piled on the assailant.
Hey man there just along for the ride lol. Gotta have something to do on a nice sunny day.
HighFlyer I saw a cop Ford Explorer keeping up with a e63 amg I was like how
This ain't GTA lol
365HP and an high performance/pursuit driving trained officer.
No helicopter. GTA tactics will end it. Aka, having a helicopter with machine guns on it. Also having a high ranking person in the government as a hostage.
I still miss the Car Ride videos . Wish you could sneak a couple in sometime. Pure NOSTALGIA!
YOU ARE AWESOME. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK : )
You are the only cop I like
Ive ran (and got caught)....yep they take it personal🤕
billcharlene1450 Ya it like oops he tripped then he got the broken seat belt in the cruiser and that dam stray ran across the road then he tripped again at the jail over and over hey to all the criminals out there DON'T RUN YOU WON'T GET AWAY!😁
@@mattburns4859 Ive gotten away more than ive got caught, and ive since retired from fuckin with the police. My advice is not to run..but if you do run.....RUN!
billcharlene1450 same here I just don't do dumb shit anymore to have to run. I've gotten away with a llt more stuip shit then I ever got caught for
Having been in one....it is the most nerve-wracking, most fun you'll ever have.
Very good keep it up. Very interesting. Irish fan.
David O' Keeffe when I saw the O’ in your full name I figured you might be Irish 😂

Great video! Always wondered what happens behind the scenes.
Last time I was this early, Probie the tank was still commenting within the first 10 minutes
Love this!!!! Your channel rocks!!
Thanks for sharing knowledge with us!!! I love watching your channel
Do you watch donut operator
Oh, officer401 do a video on muscle cars, modded cars, or sports cars stories you have if any, whether it be them doing something stupid, trying to show off, or even car meets and races! Love the channel!
Can u make a video on why vigilantes are illegal
Like batman
They're not entirely illegal, it's called citizen's arrest. However, pretending to be Batman isn't the same thing because Batman and other superheroes do not follow the same procedures police officers follow. If police officers did the same thing that superheroes typically do, they would be fired.
LAPD officer here. We simply call it a veh pursuit. Supervisors dont ask our weather conditions since it's mostly always sunny here. Besides that you are on point.
Discord squad once again :P
I will never forget this. I'm going 45 miles per hour (speed limit) down,a road. It's close to midnight. I'm heading home after a long day of work.
All of the sudden, a car passes me going 90 miles per hour, at least.
A few seconds later, a police officer passes me (came out of no where, just like the other car) trying to catch up.
Extremely unnerving on a dark road at night.
I asked on one of your videos I’m gonna be in the us marines 0317 when I get out I was wondering if you could go straight to the swat team??
No you'd have to start as a patrol officer
So just because you’re going to the marines you think you can get out and go straight to swat team like it’s that easy? 😂 you’re not the brightest are you but it’s ok have fun eating crayons
Dont Care and you’re a douche. The worst kind of douche. The one who tries to insult people for asking a question but actually makes themselves look like a douche because you can’t even grammar correctly.
Dont Care
It was a legitimate question. Not everyone knows whether or not they can go straight in to something after the military or not.
Keep up the good work 401!
How fast are gsp vehicles?
-Asking for a friend.
Name LastName they have 5.7 v8 chargers so they have about 400 horsepower
Justin Krichbaum 360 hp
It seem to be entertaining
Your Hollywood is at fault
Cmon,open your gad dem tv
Smokey and bandits
Duke And Hazards
Not to mention with your corrupt cops movie.
StateTroopers chasing you till their wheels fall off = Buford T Justice I am IN HOT PURSUIT LOL
If I am getting pulled over I usually flash my turn signal a couple time so the officer knows I am going to pull over.
Thank you and stay safe out there.
A Good video for aspiring police officers, or relatives of Police Officers.
"Troopers will chase you until their wheels fall off" lmao that is the truth
Yo 401! Amazing videos dude. Really digging the content and all the info! One video I would love to see is what you did for collage and everything you did before you started working for CID! You might have done a vid on this already, not sure! Anyways keep up the good work man!!
