Advice from a vet to the new guys.
I had a chief who often said, 'We can fix mistakes. But if you lie, we can’t fix lies'
It's ironic because dishonesty is rampant among cops. They don't have a right to expect good behavior from citizens when they lie themselves and have the audacity to call regular people "civilians"
It’s sooo refreshing to see that police officers like you still exist. I did 15 years of service, but got out within the last couple years. You definitely know your stuff. Keep it up, stay safe, watch your 6
Small town vs large city policing?
I come from a small town but huge county with a couple big towns in it so I’m trying to be a deputy sheriff because of that but if there’s a big city where you’re at then I’d say it would probably be better if you’re looking for action but if you’re looking for a quite time then a small town would be better just my opinion
Not much worse than the person who gets off FTO and then thinks they know everything.
Yeah. I would advise getting off your FTO. They may not like it.
Michael Williams- Yep
Gnarly G I get it
you get off OJT lol got a lot to learn
Never livestream Nintendo anything they will rip you apart with copyright claims
Jonathan Ortiz people play it on twitch
He can attempt to at least
I think twitch streaming won't be affected, but on RUclips, yea videos get their revenue taken by Nintendo so I imagine streams could get striken down
Just going to pop in here and say that creating any content using Nintendos IP is only permitted through the creators program. The creators program does not apply to streaming, hence livestreaming Nintendos IPs is not permitted. The creators program also only applies to RUclips, so any video content concerning Nintendos IP which is not fair use, is not permitted outside of RUclips.
TL;DR - Give me bulletpoints:
- Livestreaming Nintendos IPs is not allowed.
- Publishing videos of Nintendos IPs outside RUclips is not allowed.
- Publishing videos of Nintendos IP on RUclips without being part of the Nintendo creators program is not allowed.
I don't expect anything to happen if he's on the SNES
Hurry up and give Helen Keller a gun a badge, she's super excited, almost too excited. And she knows a guy who was a cop so she knows all about it.
glaxko2 I'm going to hell for laughing at this.
glaxko2 must be related to Kylie Jenner LMAO
Lmao
Im going to hell as well
@@officer401Funny fact: Modernisation of police forces scheme existed since 1969 and the Bureau of Police Research and Development existed since 1970, but the Indian police forces are still primitive.
On a serious note, India seriously needs to bring about massive reforms and modernisation of the police forces and build a force that a real emerging superpower must have. Looking at the current state of the police forces, bragging that India is a future superpower is so laughable. If the police are not fixed as fast as possible, movements to abolish the police may rise. Hope Indian police becomes as modern as US police.
Officer 401 I love what you had to say about honesty and owning your mistakes. I feel this should go for every job. Be honest and take accountability when you mess up, that's how you earn respect from your coworker's and employers. Great video!
This was actually really helpful. A lot in this video I have heard from other cops, and some that I haven’t heard. Thank you
Your videos are helpful and am process with the sheriff's department near me and my polygraph is on December 1st. So thank you for your advise and overall being the awesome guy you are .
I like the idea that you touched on wanting to get into everything but telling them to stay calm. And yes the fun will come. Great thought.
Thank you for taking your time to do these videos! Stay safe out there!
I'm joining law enforcement this year as a Deputy Sheriff base on what the narrator said I think he's exactly right I don't talk unless being spoken to and I pay close attention because that's what I'm there for to do a sufficient job that's it
yeah me to Deputy
how are you it’s been years
@@bandit1001he didn’t make it
Good video. I just discovered this channel and have been binging these videos the past few days. I'm trying to get into the GA State Patrol next year, and these videos are a great help.
The thing that keeps me calm about becoming a cop is that one day, it's just gonna be like any other job I've worked as far as knowing what to do and being good at ur job. Cus the process is seriously overwhelming. That's just something that's helped me in the months I've spent applying
I miss these car videos... thanks for mixing them back in.
You should do a video talking about the cop that had a panic attack after shooting at someone.🖤💙🖤
Kaitlyn Boehm it's pretty common. One of my professors was on the SWAT team and they shot this guy that barricaded himself in the bathroom with his kid and he showed us a video of him after the shooting.
Basically he was walking in circles and freaking out but when he got back to the station he didn't even remember what happened
He actually should
Kaitlyn Boehm that's both very common and to be expected. It's not only cops that go through this but soldiers as well as civilians who are unfortunate enough to use a firearm to defend themselves.
watching this video 3 years later helped me out thank you so much!!!!!
Love the videos! Mike the cop is another great cop who shows that there are actually cops who are human out here!
I'm guessing FTO stands for Field Training Officer?
Lol!
Yes
I was wondering the same thing. He should have given that information.
It's funny you bring up that the person in charge likely already knows the answer. A couple months ago, I did an Initial Strength Test with Ssgt. Serrano at the recruiting office and he was holding my legs as I did crunches. After the two minutes, he asked me how many I did. I said "45, maybe 46, sir" "you did 47, Naylor. That was an integrity test." You can absolutely expect those
Good job sir. I wish you the best in the field! 😁
Fucking love you for putting the intro song in the description. RUclipsrs don't know how valuable that is.
Good level headed advice. I always appreciate dealing with officers that are professional and calm. Honestly it makes or breaks the situation.
I truly love this channel
I loved your always tell the truth comment. 25 years in corrections and more officers fired for not just telling the truth. Best advice ever for all LEO.
I just got shortlisted to the police force I recently applied to I'm so happy :'D
That sounds awesome; as long as the names on the list above yours aren't "an old running shoe," "a half-empty can of Four Loko," or "a neon green rubberband."
Update? How is it going?
I really enjoyed the video. The last bit of advice about honesty and your reputation was needed.
As a rookie, *KNOW YOUR ROLE*
Mac 215 not just for the police but for any job. Believe me as a jr firefighter I know this too well
Stronk Slav Stalin FD1917 ‘because my brother was a fire fighter’
Know your skill level*
There are rookies out there that run circles around experienced people.
Heck, as a rookie I ended up being the talk down guy for people threatening to hurt/ kill themselves because everyone else had to much of an abrasive cop mentality.
Really great content, as usual, officer 401! I keep getting right to the end of the hiring process and not making it but when I do (soon) I'm glad I have this advice from a veteran officer like yourself. Keep doing what you're doing you not only entertain us but help us who want to get into law enforcement learn a greater understanding of the career path and what it's really like. Stay safe
@Anthony lee I made it
LOVE YOU OFFICER 401!
Your videos are so interesting helpful informative and mostly funny.
Thank you! Officer 401
And lots of luck!
About to start the academy next month. Your channel is awesome on information. Thank you!!
Glad this video came out. Just finished week 1 as a probie so it should help
If you stopped a volunteer firefighter for speeding while he was responding to a call, what would you do? We recently had this happen and the firefighter received a ticket.
Free to go in my book
I’m not an officer, or anything related. But I do live within a volunteer fire department district, and honestly sometimes they deserve the ticket. Like when you go on as a volunteer, something you should know is that you’re not allowed to speed, same as people don’t have to pull over for you. So overall, even though he was going to a call. He was also endangering lives by speeding, cause by law you do not have to pull over for a volunteer. I
Zack Cates not in every state in my state your allowed to go 15mph over the posted speed limit , and it is the law to pull over for volunteer fireman in their personal vehicles , as a volunteer’s personal vehicle is considered an emergency vehicle when responding to a call.
William Crabtree Yeah it’s definitely not like that here in NC, and most other states I know volunteers have to abide by all traffic laws. Cause like you said it’s your personal vehicle, you don’t actually have to take any driving training to run lights in it (just gotta wait out your probation period) so overall a lot in my opinion would have to be changed for personal vehicles to be used as emergency vehicles.
Zack Cates well in my state we do take drivers training before we’re actually aloud to do what I said
Glad to hear your hours changed. Should give you more time with your family! Enjoy your time off! Keep up the super videos--really enjoy them and your insights!
Enjoyed the video. This is how all youtube videos should be, short to the point, chilled, funny and done on your own time.✌️❤️
401, thank you for what you do every day.
Im getting ready to get into a Department, the whole FTO advice clears up a lot. thank you. at least i can rest easy when i start with low scores.
My dad is an Indiana state trooper and has ben one more than 20 years now he is flying for the state police and always repeats the exact same thing at 7:40 I just discovered your channel
Officer401 you are awesome. I love the videos.
I am a cop 20 years right now and i can sign everything what u say. stay safe bro
Good video. Very important issues and info if your thinking of being an officer. Thank u
Perked my night right up, ty for that
Thank you for this information. I have applied to the Chicago Police and I want all the knowledge I can get to be a better officer one day.
For me I joined JROTC to help prepare for the academy with being in shape and discipline and to help kill shyness
Great video brother, I love the stuff you do. Thank you sir
Thank you for this video. The biggest issue I had in field training was learning and getting comfortable with taking control of a situation and not knowing how to do it (I was a shy guy). I had the impression (for some reason) that I was abnormal because of that. Thank you for acknowledging it as a problem that’s common enough that you felt it worthy of mention.
Sounds like you still have some humanity in you. Don't lose that over your career.
Man I think this is the only thing I'm stressed about, I wanna be a cop but I'm a pretty shy guy.
I think it's like any other job, you get better as time goes on. Example would be I was very shy when I got my first job at McDonald's as a manager. But as time went on, I got more and more confident, and now I'm really good with people. I bet it's the same idea here, even though it's a completely different job.
Your a trip. Your the best, God Bless You....
Excellent video. It's nice to have you back. :-)
You my friend are the 2nd cop that I like well done sir.
Thanks for putting up this vid brother!
good advice! i start SKILLS training next month. 4 years of college is almost done!
These where awesome tip much love from North Carolina
nice to hear this stuff thanks man
These are really helpful and motivating. I get motivation to finish high school, go to the military and apply to the police academy by watching these videos (and other cop youtubers).
I really dislike high school because I'm really unacademic, which is why I'm drawn to jobs like Police or paramedic, which are less academic than advocates etc. and I'd have the chance to help someone.
Thank you for the great content👍
This is some of the best advise I've ever heard from a RUclips video.
He love the Videos, I was just Curious is there a rivarly between EMT's and police officers? Either way keep up the great work and be safe.
Thanks for another great video, ofc.401!
Is anyone else out here from before Officer401 had 2k subs? Back when he only had the Drone video up??
Riley B. Me. While I technically switched accounts because I recently made a RUclips channel I have been here from then
Riley B. Yep
Riley B. Me! I remember seeing his original video where he just uploaded his old intro.
Riley B. Hell yeah!!
I was here before he got 30k. How far back idk
probably the best video you've put out!! 11/10 would recommend to a friend
Really love the advice, I'm about to be starting with a department (hopefully) and I really will take all the advice I can get. Stay frosty 401
you should do a video of how social media will affect the hiring of younger people who want to be police officers in the future! love your vids!
Thank you so much for this video it really helps
Great job brother
This video boosted my confidence a lot for the fto portion.
Wow, been off RUclips for a while and damn your channel has grown! Congrats Man U deserve it all and then some
Thank you for the video !!!
Thank you sir.
Sooo true!!
Thank you!
My Dad had me convinced he would be able to tell if my sister and I were lying so we were warned not to try it. He ALWAYS asked questions he already knew the answer to.
Speaking of being in the car... I was in the car with him once when he had to answer a call... Lights, sirens and excessive speed. I was staring at the St Christopher medal he had on his dash thinking my life was over. It was the 70s and his cruiser was a Chevy Nova SS, very low to the ground. I think it had a V8. I was scared to death. After, I decided it was fun and hoped to do it again. Didn't happen.
That's the closest I came to seeing him really do his job. And, even though my best friend is a deputy sheriff in a large, horrible part of the country and he tells me what he has to do... I still don't know. Nobody does. All we can say is thank you, and stay safe.
Thanks for the vid! It was great!
Great video, I've fond it super helpful.
Officer401 Zelda: A link to the Past... boy does that bring back childhood memories! Holy shit that game was my life for so many summer days.
Hi officer401. Big fan of yours. I think a cool topic to go over would be why cops aim for the center of the body and not the legs since most people don't seem to understand the reason behind it. Keep up the good work! :)
Stefan Jäger because cops are trained to eliminate the threat and not just to slow it down
Every time our favorite officer, Officer401 says cop. Take a shot of what you got.
Thank you for everything, I myself is looking on become a Law Enforcement Officer and again thank you for all the information.
You should get your window tinted again
Jesus i just realized how dark they are
4:20 My Cousins out fighting dragons and what do I get? Guard duty.
love your videos but this one definitely helped me alot, i turn 18 next year and i'm planning dispatching until i'm 21 and then move over to uniform ops, btw you sounded very tired
I am collar blind too. Great video.
As someone who aspires to be a police officer after military. Informational videos like this are not only entertaining, but very much appreciated. Thank you.
I'm epileptic and 22 and at the moment can't drive but slowly we are getting it under control, so i'm hoping within the next few years i can get into the academy and start my career
Good advice! I start the academy in two weeks
Good tips just for everyone for everyday living
Love the vids brotha
Dude that's awesome, link to the past was the first game I ever played
This guy has got to be a great training officer.
Dispatch, show me 10-98. Finished watching Officer 401’s latest road vlog.
What a great joke. lol
Tackleberry it's not often that I see someone with the Freemasonry symbol as their profile picture.
U must be NYPD
Barry Allard easy there Bandit...
AJ Calacci man I get so much hate from being a mason. Almost every time someone replies to one of my RUclips comments it’s to throw shade because they think we are evil overlords. If they joined up and learned our stuff, they would realize it’s very historical/morality based. Also, you have to be a mason to be a Shriner. The Shriners fund children’s hospitals ffs lol. I recommend masonry to all who qualify.
The intro / music is on another level
I didn't expect to, but I found myself agreeing with basically everything you said. I especially liked the part about hooking up an aggressive, non compliant person and securing them in a vehicle, and the part about knowing what you are and are not capable of. The people who respect you hardly notice, but the people dangerous to you can smell fear and sense bravado...but they also sense confidence and strength. Some guys can quell a riot with presence, others need to know they should wait for back up, and that's hard to teach. How do you convince some to absolute acts of bravery and skill while warning others not to do that because they don't have those skills...especially when it's all in flux and depends on experience and judgement and talent and disposition and sometimes luck, and you're all supposed to be interchangeable? How do you teach someone when to go and when to slow their roll? So much of it is stress inoculation....just getting used to the insane level of stress and adrenaline until you can be in the thick of it but still thinking and remaining in control of yourself. I think that's almost got to be on the job training, but when the stakes are so high, that's not a very comfortable reality.
I’m 14 and My parents have told me not to chase the money, I’ve decided to pursue this career because I feel that it would be a great way to help people and defend the innocent
Awesome vid man
Love the "don't be in such a hurry" advice. To borrow a saying from SouthLAnd, "He's always tripping on his own meat."
Love your videos man!
Great video. Keep it up!
I'm 15 and I would love to be either a police officer or park ranger when I get old enough. Also, I've been watching your videos all day yesterday and all day today so far, you are awesome! I've learned so much already
5 years later are you still thinking of doing it.
Useful information. There is a video stabilization feature on RUclips. I use it to stabilize videos after uploading them.
thank you for the tips.
Thnx helps out a lot
Yaaaassss!!! Zelda and MarioKart. You are an 80’s baby like me
We had one FTO who inflated his trainee’s weekly evaluations and the sergeant, lieutenant & captain signed off on them. I arrive as the new lieutenant too late to stop this train. The end result was the department was stuck w/this jerk for 20 years and he was dangerous to everyone around him.
