    You can bypass the cab sims, The “effects send” comes before the Ir . Use that as the output, then into the front of a amp.

    • @PedalScience
      @PedalScience  2 месяца назад

      yes but you lose all the effects after the send

    Estou usando há ME 90 há 3 semanas, demorei para entender como ela realmente funciona, agora estou com ótimos sons para a guitarra. Estou usando o método de 4 cabos com o output configurado em Return 2x12 e o botão no G amp . Não acho que tem algum IR ou simulação que fica habilitado, tanto é que quando mudo o botão para Line (o que habilita o IR) o som muda drasticamente. Estou bem feliz com o equipamento.

    According to Boss the IR is disabled in Guitar Mode. There may be a bug, tho, with custom IRs.
    Second, the ‘Output’ is just an EQ to optimize how you’re using it. It’s not a Cab Sim. Tho, I have had the issue with the distortion into amps.
    It really hit me, when I heard how much better it sounded on Line mode DI into Logic. And it’s cool how it will record both a wet and dry signal for you to use for mixing.

    I have been tinkering with this unit for a couple of days now, and I found out that the only way I can get a usable(not filtered, not speaker emulated) preamp sound out of the pedal into my solid state poweramp that drives a speaker cabinet is when you set the output to line on the back of the pedal (this disables the poweramp filtering) and I choose an empty preset from the custom IR slots (this disables the speaker emulation). I know this is a weird way to set it up a unit like this, but both the Tone Studio, both the firmware of the unit is flawed in my opinion.

    • @PedalScience
      @PedalScience  Год назад

      Yes I completely agree with you, this is exactly what I have been doing lately and it sounds much better. I did have to factory reset it to clear the IRs I had loaded previously and now I can use a blank slot

      This is my very first multieffect unit from boss and i can not understand why they decided to make the output configuration so confusing when this unit is meant to be a plug and play WYSIWYG solution for those who prefer pedals instead of multieffects, and menus. Funnily enough, the sound from the headphone out is just gorgeous as-is without any hassle.
      By the way, thank you for your videos on the me-90. They helped me on my way to find the correct output configuration for the main out! Many of them who bought this unit have allready sent it back because it sounded like garbage. And this is understandable. This is boss's mistake to release a product like this. I hope that in future releases of the firmware and Tone Studio Boss can fix these errors.

    Great video, I wish people did more technical videos that show how to use it rather than just free advertising. I have the Boss IR-200 amp/cab simulator and have been trying to read the manual to wrap my head around using it. Unfortunately it has a few less amp sims than the ME-90, but seems like it can disable amp or cab by holding down each knob. I guess that would mean its giving a flat IR signal? But then again, wouldn't the ME-90 in "line mode" be giving a flat IR signal to amp too? So should we forget about the strange list of guitar amp outputs (also seen in IR-200) and use "line mode" instead of the custom flat IR? I'm getting confused because why would i do an amp sim+cab sim+guitar output mode on the IR-200? that would be like having 2 different IRs (cab+output mode).

    • @PedalScience
      @PedalScience  Год назад

      Thanks for your comment - on the ME-90, if you engage any preamp there is always an IR engaged, switching from line mode to guitar amp mode just adds the ‘output mode’ on top of the IR.

    • @malcolmhuestis7595
      @malcolmhuestis7595 Год назад

      Thanks, so I guess what I'm learning from your series of videos is: 1) if you are using an amp sim type of pedal, connect to fx return to skip the native amp preamp sound. 2) if using ME-90, you would also want to be connected in "line mode" to avoid the odd output EQ changes, and since you can't disable an IR, use your custom flat IR. so I guess there is no use case for using "guitar amp mode". 3) if using IR-200 into an amp, connect through fx return and disable IR so that its only an amp sim, but also go to A/B link menu and pick "line mode" instead of the odd output EQs so it remains flat (line is actually the default and I didn't know about that menu until your video). I hope someone will do a deep dive video like you did for the IR-200 and also the IR-200 together with ME-90 (how to connect them together for computer or for amp).

    There's an switch on the back of the me90 .switch to Amp mode istead of line and choose a speaker type in Aird output mode(combo or stack blabla)should have the IR disabled.but It looks like they have a special EQ for this bypassed ir output option.maybe they will change this Aird output option to have a ‘all off' option in the later firmware

    • @PedalScience
      @PedalScience  Год назад

      Thanks for your comment and yes I should have made it more clear in my videos that I'm well aware of the switch; just that it doesn't do what we all expect it to! (switch off the IR in guitar amp mode, at least on my ME-90 it doesn't)

      @@PedalScience yes,I understand the issue. I think in gt 1000 the aird output has more option like preamp out/ line recrod that would disable the output EQ setting.looks like me90 can't

  • @mdrumt

    Maybe log a service ticket and see what they say? Has there been a very recent update to the unit? Other reviewers have not touched on this. Does the GT1 have the same issues? I've been thinking of getting one as it's cheaper and technically the same sounds from what I understand, just more limited stomps.

    • @PedalScience
      @PedalScience  Год назад

      Haven't seen an update as of yet, but perhaps they will do so. I don't think the GT1 has this issue. In any case I can confirm the amp sims do sound really good once you load a flat response IR and find a preferred output mode, so I'm not in any hurry for them to resolve it.
