Hearing Bryce Stewart’s story may sound familiar to long-time BiggerPockets Podcast listeners. That’s because Bryce was on Episode 276 where he gave the great metaphor “vacuuming out the truck” relating to real estate investments.
Bryce is back to talk about being a great mentor/mentee, what every contractor needs before working on a rental, how to go from active to passive real estate ownership, and his new book House-Hacker’s Guide To The Galaxy.
Bryce understands what it’s like to be a new investor. Every step seems hard, the end result seems almost impossible, so where do you even start? Simply, take a step forward, no matter how small it is. Even just starting to save a few hundred bucks a month can be your first step towards becoming a real estate investor.
As time goes on, these small steps become giant leaps, and what seemed impossible at first, can now be doubled since you have the know-how. Bryce takes us back to a time where he didn’t know how to get his property taxes lowered, but through very incremental steps was able to make a case and save himself thousands of dollars in the long run.
Looking for a mentor? Stick around to hear Bryce’s top piece of advice for any new real estate investor. This simple tactic can help beginner investors know more about what they’re getting into and also show the mentor they’re serious about their new interest.

That way, it's not like they are your under-the-table de facto employee, who should have been covered by worker's compensation insurance before entering your worksite." Breathe deeply. Do what is free and low-risk first. Shop home insurance rates. If you own a home, see if you can refinance. Start looking for things that put more money in your pocket every month but don't add chores.

I agree he dumbed it down soo well 👌🏽
Just a scammer.
You can tell he was a teacher and he's great at teaching the step by step. Love this! Great podcast! :)
Yes! Breaking it all the way down. So great!
I was just thinking that myself so true

Bryce is hands down my favorite guest on this podcast. I shared his first episode with a teacher I know. Bryce’s story inspired this teacher to begin his trek into REI. Thanks for being so transparent, Bryce!

4th graders will ask for help. But adults seem to "lose" that ability as they get older. Perhaps it's because we've been programmed not to act "dumb" and not to ask "dumb questions". This indeed limits us and prevents real growth in us as investors (or would-be investors).

Love this guy ! no wonder he used to be a teacher, he's so good at explaining things and keeping your attention locked without draining your energy. This must be my favorite episode.
I 100% relate to this guy. Download and print off a form and be left mentally exhausted for 3 days.
I swear by all that is Holy, I will never, EVER, forget "Worker's Comp Waiver Form"
Ha! I took a chance - thought "This might be stupid." Then I thought, "yeah, but there are lots of forgettable podcasts. Not mine!"
One of my favorite episodes to date! Why, he's as plain Jim as they come...it's just real.
This. Was. Amazing!!!! Great metaphors for learning, helpful to understand you can grow as much as you are willing to work, pushes you practically, I could go on and on! I need to listen to this three more times because it was so immensely helpful!
This podcast was great! Stewart is an amazing teacher. And he teaches concepts that other investors have forgotten they learned! Thank you for this!
Bryce is Gold!! What he says to do to get started is just what I needed. He's a great teacher. I've done training. It's about breaking what you want down, into little understandable steps along the way. It helps to build confidence. That's what Bryce does. When he busted out the guitar, I was sold. What a great person to have as a mentor. Will purchase his book. You can have Bryce on anytime.
This was super informative! Bryce’s teaching style is awesome and I will definitely utilize these teachings in my REI journey to financial freedom! Thanks BP!!! ❤️
Great episode! I went back and listened to Bryce’s first episode and then listened to both again alongside my husband. We’re about to list our first live-in flip and grab a dilapidated triplex to hold. Such an exciting journey (and I’ve been painting the house today so can totally relate to the hustle of juggling everything).
NICE! When I used to do my own painting, I would listen to Jim Rohn videos. That's gasoline for the tank, baby!
That's great news Kristin. Which city state is this in? Where I live, its very expensive in South Florida
He is a teacher at heart. He said so many things that resonated with me and had me thinking about so much
This is the first podcast I have seen from you guys, and if the others are anything like it, I’ll watch them all at least twice😈
Such a good episode. Bryce laid our investing tactics like the teacher he is! So well outlined and easy to understand for new investors.
This is my favorite episode so far. Thank you guys!!
Jose, thanks! Mine too.
I love the purchase agreement tip. It really is great and having a full understanding of it will truly help later on. Thank you!
One of the best BP podcasts out there in my opinion. Such great, practical advice for the little guy. Thank you so much, I feel like I have much more direction to start working on my business
I can’t thank the guest for this interview anymore. This was really timely for my life! I am coming upon roadblock after roadblock. What I desire seems so difficult but once I take it one step at a time, take a beat and then pray, I find myself being less overwhelmed.
Thanks for listening. If someone takes time out of their day to listen, I believe they deserve to get some value!
27:30 I NEED THIS GUY AS A MENTOR! I will pay for your time!!
Good information, thank you for explaining so much of this business & your testimony of the problems you incurred.
I really enjoy Bryce’s breakdown and humbleness/humility that so many of us feel the same way about. This episode really grabbed my attention, great lessons
Great podcast! Everytime i learn something new when I watch these podcasts. Thank you!
Glad you learned something from it!
This was a really good podcast, thanks Bryce for sharing your experience. I really want to start doing the same and this podcast puts me in the right direction. I’m from Allentown and is good to see someone from the area doing it!!

So true about the paper sitting there! I have some self storage units going to auction, I dread it so much that the papers have been sitting by my printer for over a week. Bryce the way you speak is definitely like a teacher. Good teachers make everything digestible in bite sized pieces. I'm a teacher myself, and I often find myself frozen in inaction because everything is so different. We're trying to buy our first investment home and I feel like even though we've watched so many BP videos that we barely know what we're doing. It's scary but we're trying.
One of the better episodes I have seen for Newbies. I think the step by step demonstration went a far way. I think you guys can have a section of the show where you ask a guest to walk (baby steps) us through how they overcame an obstacle just the way how he did it here. Probably can use that instead of the “deal deep dive” just a suggestion
This guy is gold. Great show
Thanks Jillian!
By far one of my favorite guests
Thanks for this Bryce! This is what I need; that foundational knowledge, and potentially somebody to teach me when it's appropriate to use a semicolon. I realize not every podcast should target those who are just beginning, but I'd love to see more of them.

Such a good podcast! I’ve been listening and trying to learn the ropes. Everything build s off of that. This is so helpful. Thank you Bryce
Thanks Rocky! Good name for a trainer.
I love REAL teachers...They humble their own intelligence to transfer knowledge to you. Beautiful! Thank you!
Teachers are heroes! Especially in this environment. I loved many aspects of teaching, and hold only warm feelings toward all of my past colleagues and students. Reminder: IT IS COMPLETELY FREE TO CONTACT YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER AND ENCOURAGE THEM, THANK THEM, SUPPORT THEM. Seriously. Even if you don't like them or are disappointed with their consistency or ability - it still costs nothing to reach out positively; there's only upside.
