This is one of the best talks on health effects of particulates. The only problem is the last sentence , "The clean air act will roughly extend the life of an average US citizen by a year." I really wanted to share this with global warming deniers to point out that fossil fuel burning is affecting them NOW, but if they see that all the expense and effort extends life only one year, as I have come to know them, they will simply scoff at the notion of only living life one extra year, as they seem to be very short sighted and will simply go back to their couch and smoke a cigarette and drink themselves blind. If I can figure out how to edit out the last sentence, this is an extremely effective video.

I live in a North Indian City and have developed Chronic Bronchitis. In Winters Pm2.5 levels remains 300+ and Pm10 remains 200+ for most days and sometimes reaching as high as 600. It's literally living in Hell here for people like me. Sadly, people don't care here and neither the government is serious about this Health Hazard.

A wide variety of things can be done to reduce pollution. One of the things that can be done is to make the existing road vehicles more fuel efficient. Nearly all petrol vehicles that are on the roads today are suitable to have LPG systems installed. LPG is a cleaner and cheaper fuel. Petrol will still be needed to start the engine but then the LPG system will soon activate. The rate of petrol consumption will reduce which will cut emissions and still benefit the environment. Hybrid cars, electric cars and even hydrogen powered cars are all beneficial too.

No, electric cars are an environmental disaster and this propaganda video is global warming propaganda disguised as a "pollution" video. CO2 isn't pollution, it's plant food.

@@ricktd6891 Electric cars are not all bad. They do have a part to play. The fact is there is too much CO2 pollution in the world. You can't reduce it by making all cars run on conventional fuel, some need to be electric. And not all plant food is bad. Potatoes are a type of plant food. Is that pollution? I don't think so.

@@ricktd6891 CO2 emitted from cars IS pollution. If you're walking in or near the city during rush hour, there's no way you could say the air is clean. I'm not anti car, the problem is the quantity of polluting cars on the roads. Global warming is not a good thing if it means people are displaced from their homes. You say electric cars are an environmental disaster, but the car manufacturers would disagree with you. One of the problems with electric cars is the politics associated with them. If an electric car can be charged from an off grid source such as solar, that would probably be the most efficient a driver could be.

mostly based on epidemiological studies, that right here invalidates such strong conclusion drawn in this video.
provide actual evidence and not loosely based perceived correlations.
even your graph at 2:00 provides NO answers to base life expectancy figures on without taking into considerations a huge amount of variables.
These findings are unethical since they're designed to scare instead of inform.

The exposure to 10 microgram/m3 of PM2.5 reduce your life span for 3/4 of the year is not correct. For example if the life expectancy average of US citizen is around 78 years, the exposure to 10 microgram/m3 of PM2.5 will reduce the lifespan to 75 years. By comparing the results at 20 and 30 microgram/m3, increasing of PM2.5 for 10 microgram/m3 reduces the life expectancy for 1 year.
