also in one the SA to VOLUME ratio is 1.2:1 which would actually simplify to 1:0.8333 making 4th closest to second. pls let me know if i am wrong in my calculations

there is a much easier and quicker way of finding the answer to q18. My teacher read the examiner's report and it said that we just had to find the side of the agar block with the smallest value (here in this case =5) because the time taken by the dye to be absorbed is directly proportional to the smallest side, hence the answer is option A.

hi interesting logic but if you check my comments can you explain why taking the SA to Volume ratio in that way wouldn't be correct either?

@@IncognitowRiTeR-b9j yeah I wouldn't be able to say why, since we tried the same method as well in class, and most of us got the wrong answer. So in any such type of questions, I never took the SA:V ratio. Sorry

In question 8, why is B correct, it states that a polysaccharide is broken down. Since the sample could contain sucrose (and most likely does), sucrose isn’t a polysaccharide (it’s a disaccharide). Please explain.

Hello! Good point! However, in the context of the q, it is a comparrison q asking which statement explains the results. Aka why in sample 1 negative benedicts, and why in sample 2 positive. So glycosidic bond is a covalent bond that links two or more monosaccharides together to form a disaccharide or polysaccharide. When HCl is added to a non-reducing sugar, it catalyzes the hydrolysis of the glycosidic bond, which breaks the bond and releases the reducing sugars. therefore its asking why these 2 results are different not the mechanism of the condensation reaction occuring while adding HCL (which is correct by the way, but not in the context of the question). in sample 1, due to the presence of a glycosidic bond (a non reducing sugar), the test was negative. In sample 2 when we broke it the reducing sugar were released. Best of wishes!!

in question 12, shouldnt the answer be two? because it says two single water molecules. means there are no more water molecules around these two. in such a case, shouldnt the two hydrogen atoms of one molecule be attracted to the oxygen atom of the other molecule? since the oxygen atom has two lone pairs?
and in question 13, why should the answer be A? shouldnt it be C? because the question asks us to answer based on the information provided to us. the question says the activity of the enzyme is reduced. so the enzyme must have been denatured in some way, right? the question didnt ask for the function of an enzyme

I made a mistake on q12 as well, the reason is one because the bond angle between the hydrogen is 180 degrees, more specifically, the bond angle between the bonded pair and the hydrogen bond

hi im a little confused in q28:
    as per my calculations:
    SA TO VOLUME RATIO(SA/V):
    1. 1.2
    2. 0.6
    3. 0.4
    4. 0.7
so isn't 0.7 closest to 0.6 making the time 16.1s?

The lentgh should be the longest and the width should be the secind smallest, logically height should be smallest

Hi, can you please explain how you calculated surface area in q18?

    • @abiawageeallah3654
      @abiawageeallah3654 11 месяцев назад +6

      1. 5x5x6
      2. 10x10x6
      3. 15x15x6
for the first three since the cube has faces of all equal dimension, you calculate area of square then multiply by six since a cube has six sides
      4. (5x10x2)+(5x15x2)+(15X10x2)
for the last one since not all faces of the cube have the same dimensions(not a cube, but a cuboid) , there are sides of length 5, 10, and 15, so calculate the area of each face and multiply by 2 then add them together
