I have this antenna and have had very good results so far on 20M. Only used it about 6 times in the few months I’ve been using it but it has been very easy to use and I can set up or take down in only 5 minutes. It’s light and fits in my field backpack. I have only used on QRP 10w SSB but getting good signal reports all over the country and have my first POTA activation with it. I separated the ground plane wires into four sections and SWR 1-1.5 easy. I sometimes have to move the coil clip one or two clicks depending on the area. I use a ferrite choke at the feed point because I have it and to ensure no RFI on the feed line but I get quiet reception. Seems like a good bang for the buck antenna.
Always see your HamAlert on my phone early morning on the west coast. Lately I have not been able to hear you at all with band conditions not being ideal. Hope to get you in the log soon !
From what I understand of this antenna, the coil has discrete steps, so once you have lowered the SWR with the coil, you could change the length of the whip slightly to minimize the SWR, but anything below 1.5 is perfectly fine.
Yep, that’s exactly right! Most of the time I’m able to get it below 1.5 on 15m - 40m without adjusting the whip but this time it wanted to be trimmed down a little for 20m. It’s a foolproof and simple design though.
Interesting to work you from 100 miles south, about 7 watts on a K2.... Thought we might be too close KQ4DUX. Thanks for the video, I might get up there and activate one of these days
Now if you would only closed caption at the word level what is being said in CW could be a great learning tool for people. Audio is always spot on I listen to it anyway and I can pick out CQ CQ calls at least. But still learning via the Farnsworth method and not even past my first 3 letters lol
I know, I wish I could!! I’ve tried to do that before and it takes a loooooong time. There are a few accounts that do that. SQ5VCO has some awesome subtitled higher speed rag chews and contests. VK2TER is another that subtitles many videos. Thanks for watching & 73!
Good activation video Aaron, especially since I'm in it. 😂 I like that jpc-12 for a simple loaded vertical. I don't use wires much any more, I get good results with verticals. Speaking of compromised antennas, I have a new ATAS-120A to try out, just installed it today. Thanks and catch you again soon I hope. --n1bs
I agree with you! Wires perform better sure, but when you activate as often as we do, it’s a lot of work to put up a wire. A good vertical does the trick! And oh man, you’re going to enjoy the heck out of that ATAS! It works way better than it should. 73 and see you down the log
Thanks Pard -- looks like a nice quick antenna - they tell me (sum hams in the know apparently) that verticles wont work this far north - sumthin to do with angle to the horizon or such - id like to try one jus to see before buyin one - anyway nice video as always much obliged 73 dirt dit
Your videos are excellent! Thanks for the ride along!
Thank you! 73
Great activation as always. Glad I made it in your log! 73, Patrick KF4LMZ
i hope to be in ur log too
TU for the contact! 73

I agree with all of your remarks. It performs adequately and the price is great. It’s also handy that it fits in a backpack. 73!

Thanks for trying! Band conditions have been rather volatile lately hah. Catch you on the air!
hi AAron, I also bought this antenna and it's fantastic... I hope to use it as soon as possible, happy activations! 73, Ricky de IU1PZC
It's really a good piece of kit, especially for the price. 73 my friend!

For whatever reason I hadn’t seen that antenna yet. Pretty sweet 73 de KI7QCF
It's a cool option. It performs decent and it packs up small enough to fit in nearly any backpack, which is what I like about it the most. 73!

That doesn't happen too often! Band conditions seemed to be quite nice yesterday morning too. 73

Great Activation as always, glad to make it in your log. 73 DE W4EMB
Thanks Ed! I was glad to hear your call. 73
I have this antenna. I think you have the 20 and 40 m reversed. The 20 is on top.
I did say it wrong in the intro, got it turned around. 73!
@@w4arb I put the slider on the top marker for 20 and it works fine. 73 from VA2KDJ
Love that little paddle but the PRICE! Ouch!
It ain’t cheap, but it’s worth it to me :)
@@w4arb got it!
Yeah I made it. Sometimes I don't hear you at all
Glad we got it in the log! Seems like band conditions were quite nice yesterday morning.
