That natural tank is just STUNNING! Thank you so much for this video. All your tanks are stunning. So much inspiration for re purposing out tank for sure xxx
Always appreciated your work ,i learned a lot throughout your vides and setup my own bowl, still learning a lot . Thanks and keep doing the good work. Love from India ❤️
Nicely done MD! I think we should always be mindful that the health and wellbeing of the fish matter so you must keep the size and behavior of the fish in mind when choosing a tank or bowl. These tiny fish with shrimp and snails are in a wonderful oxygenated healthy environment that takes their growth, size needs and well being in mind along with the tankmates. Responsible fish keeping will always have that as a cornerstone and that is what keeps the fish and the plants healthy as well as brings joy to those in the hobby.
Look at MD showing restraint and all that! This is a an elegant scape, well done. It looked more balanced before it was filled and the water magnified the stone so much. Now that it’s such a focal point, what would it look like to attach a small piece of beautiful Buce to that focal stone?
You inspired me to do a eco system vase, planning on upgrading to a bigger bowl cause it’s doing well. The only problem I have is with my trident fern. It shows some nutrient deficiencys but I don’t wanna use fertilizer in it. It’s a small vase with only ramshorn snails and 3 small cherry shrimp.
Love the video mate. Started watching you about a week ago as I’m starting up myself by getting 2 musk turtles. Your vids have helped and taught me so much already and can’t wait to see more 🎉
We had a bowl fish tank for years - all this fish we put in it (was a community tank) thrived. About to restore it and do it again! A tank is a tank - hahaha
Such a beautiful scape. Who says you can’t put fish in a bowl? It looks awesome. It looks like fish, shrimp and snails are happy, just as long as they have room to roam free so to speak. And the size of the bowl look like it suit every type of living room - it just fits in a small corner where you don’t know what else to do with
Thank you for doing this. I had someone in a Facebook group last week get onto me for saying that a 3.5g was good for a betta. I pointed out that as long as water parameters were good, then it was no problem. But this guy said that we “Americans need to learn about proper fish care”. 🤷🏻♂️what you do is amazing. Keep up the great work!
I light my tank only at evening for 6 n half hours. During the day they have daylight, but its indirect light because i darkened one side of the tank. I never have algae, not a single spot. I also have one fastgrowing plant at the side where i can easily remove it, and a bunch off slow growers all over the tank. Its 240 liter with only nano fish and some ancistrus. Always clean and acitve healthy fish. I find keepin it simple is the best method in the hobby.
I really like MD video and scape, watch all his videos. But the thing that amaze me the most is how can MD make his shrimps survive in uncycled tank, even with the daily water changes and testing. Cos before the daily testing/water changing the shrimp will react and die off first. I understand fishes can survive but shrimp even for Neocaridina are way too sensitive to water perimeter. The only reason I can come up with, his area does have very good/suitable water for fish/shrimp keeping.
I've done fish/shrimp in cycle and they grew like crazy. As long as you test every day and prepared to do a lot of water changes, for me it was getting a lot of RO water, then it's worth it. Lots of shed skins and eggs and fish fry.

I SO completely agree with you, MD, about fish in bowls. There are some tiny nano fish that work well in those 5g or less bowls. Goldfish, NO. Bettas in little 1g or 2g bowls (common thing I see), NO. Tiny nano fish in a 3-5g bowl? Absolutely. Especially when it's a balanced, planted environment.

I seriously hope you don’t get much slack about keeping fish in bowls. Anyone who thinks you’re not being considerate of the fish have obviously not seen all your videos which show just how much love you have for your fish. Your tanks are all extraordinary!
I still want to set up a bowl, but I'm still looking for a decently sized one. I would put shrimp in there though, so I doubt they'll even care it's spherical... ;)
Hey MD, question about the light level! If the tank is in a room with a good amount of natural light, does it still need a lamp on it? For the same timeframe?
How does the livestock get enough oxygen before the plants are established and photosynthesizing? All the water changes? Any time I've tried this, the shrimp end up sitting right at the surface or jumping out
Do the bladder snails not breed too fast and fill the tank with themselves? My tank has an infestation which I manage (with the help of a friend’s puffers) and even after pulling out loads they still come back really quick
Hi, been watching your video about eco tank. Now I'm building my own eco tank. I'm putting the tank outdoor. I'm not sure do I need to have aquarium light since there are natural light out there.
So when you first start your aquarium and are doing a lot of water changes.. should you be doing a full dose of the API leaf zone after every water change or just do a full dose weekly?
This is a great scape, love your videos! Your stuff has inspired me for a while now especially when it comes to plants and getting them to grow, I sadly don't have the equipment or ability to use some lights since I own cats and they would destroy anything living in my tanks if I were to remove the lids
Thanks for the input. I don't agree with this. Look at the health of the fish, the colours, the behavior. They are doing very well and really enjoy the environment.
Awesome video. I have recently became a fan and have watched so many of your videos like this in the last 2 weeks. I have a question, maybe you have done a video on this. What are some of the top 5 or 10 nano fish that can be placed in a Nano bowl and the ratio of fish? this has really opened my eyes, and I appreciate your work and dedication.
Hey MD! i am enjoying your videos for a few months and in 2 weeks I'll start my first own aquarium full of shrimp aswell. Love your content. Have you ever experimented with freshwater mussels or clams? I am curious about adding some in the future. Greetings from Germany!
I've never seen an issue with stocking fish in bowls as long as the maintenance is okay. If the fish are healthy and in a good environment it shouldn't matter. I have seen a few things come up in articles that places like Belgium are banning putting gold fish in bowls because it severely distorts their vision which might be causing issues. I don't know if it applies to other fish but might be worth while to read about.
I haven't seen anyone actually provide evidence that bowls cause vision issues, despite always asking people who make the claim. Usually countries who ban bowls do it because of how bowls are misused as far as stocking fish inappropriately without a filter.
Would thete be any benefit to running an airstone in any of these nano tanks to help oxygenate the water? Where would I be able to obtain the plants to copy your planting? Love watching these vids. 👍🏻
My tank is the same size as yours, I have shrimp and chili’s as well (three of them) and like six or seven shrimp plus snails. It’s HEAVILY planted, and I’m wondering if I can put two fancy guppies in it or if that will cause too much bioload?

ficou maravilhosa..nao vi o filtro...ele alto ciclante?
Love your bowl
My tank is the same size as yours, I have shrimp and chili’s as well (three of them) and like six or seven shrimp plus snails. It’s HEAVILY planted, and I’m wondering if I can put two fancy guppies in it or if that will cause too much bioload?
