    It goes to show that you can adapt 'the recipe' to suit what you have and still get a marvellous result, and this is beautiful and perfect for your new journal Chrissie. I did watch the video and it was very interesting, and I think that you made a wonderful shadowed moon, and I love the bats, and the ink blended background worked well. I know you weren't keen on the silhouette foliage but you used the white die cut foliage over the top which looks very pretty, and finishing it with the lace and the black on white die cut 'Hello' was a great idea. x

      Thanks Pat, I'm glad I managed to make the huge stencil kinda work for the moon's surface, I think I could probably get a little more proficient with it with practice!😊

    Oh for sure, AB on Words and Pictures is super inspirational, but YOU have made it so accessible Christine. I don’t have any of the poundsy Holtz bits and bobs, and you have shown just how possible it is to shop what you got and create the same wonderful effects. Thank you! (Words and Pictures, I first watched cos she must be my vintage, that was the schools programme we all had to sit in the hall and watch round a telly on wheels!! In the 70s). I enjoy your videos so very much, thanks for sharing all your ideas and tips.

    I really like how this tag came out. I have ALL of the Tim Holtz moon masks and a couple of others. Before I got those I would just use a circle die and ink blend the die around than on the remaining white circle. A little ink blending between the sky and the moon for some glow might be helpful so the transition isn't so stark. I love that you've decided to put stuff in your art journal and saw you used your new dip pen on the borders. I have those pens and a couple of inks, black, a red "butcher," and a mystic that appears to be green with a glow much like yours but I haven't opened it yet. I do now have a full set of Distress Oxides, however, I didn't start collecting them until a few years ago. I have all the dyes because I bought the minis. I did have to wait each time he released a new color as the sets of minis came in fours so the new colors in minis wouldn't be released until there were four. They're all still pretty juicy so it works for me. I'm excited to see the direction your journal is going to take.

    I think this is a wonderful version of the original inspiration! Well done!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The only things I might have added is to attempt to soften the edges on the marks from the “patterned” stencil you used over the moon and also add a very very light, uneven hint of a creamy yellow to the moon.

    • @Chrissieannie
      @Chrissieannie  6 дней назад +1

      Thanks so much😊😊😊 I did use a water brush over the whole moon after I had added a little white watercolor pencil around the edges. I thought it did take down the harsh stencil edges just a little.The base cardstock I picked was was ivory, not white as I thought white would be a little stark for the moon.!

    I agree with the other comments: it looks wonderful! (Especially the moon! First time?? Think of how you will improve! I certainly doubt mine would have looked as artistic as yours first time through). And, you are too hard on yourself at times; set it aside and look at it with fresh eyes. Even then, if you aren’t fully satisfied, think of all you learned (says the pupil to the teacher, lol!).

    I watched the same lady make these tags (I can't remember her name either - sad on me) she is very talented. Very good job on your first moon! I have both the oxide & distress inks too. I prefer the distress - artist in me likes the vivid, show through of the colors and how they react with water. I would have masked the moon and done some water sprinkles before stamping the foreground for character, just me :) Great job for your first go-round. Thanks

    A very talented French artist/crafter shows you how to make a gorgeous moon stencil from nothing other than a pencil; scissors and a circle of 'acetate' type film (am not sure of the technical term). The resulting stencil is beautiful, and all her artwork is absolutely gorgeous. The video is entitled "Happy Halloween" and the lady's name is Micheline Jourdain.
