The original Star Tours works so much better than the new one because you accidentally ended up on a mission. It felt innocent. The new one feels too forced with the "mission" and C3P0 doesn't even compare to RX24.
I disagree. The imagineers did a great job creating soooo many different ways you can go on the ride, each ride can feel different and unique to your experience. Plus the original was starting to show its age it was bound to get an update

The original experience was so much better than what they have now, it was timeless. Physical models will always be better than the fake CGI they implemented.
I loved the original Star Tours my favorite part was when they arrived at Endor in middle of a battle and you hear the guy say "Star Tours what are you doing here?" LOL
Fun fact, in the new version there are random planets u can visit and in many of them they make a reference to this, saying something along the lines of “Star tours, what are you doing here? This is a combat zone!” My favorite one is the Hoth one because a pilot says that and C-3PO says “combat zone?” And then they fly over a hill and then get shot at and he just cries “ohhh noo”
Let me tell you when I was about 6-7 I went on this ride and my whole life was flipped upside down I really thought our ride too Endor got highjacked! Don’t even get me started on when RX24 says “I’ve always wanted too do this!” Lil me was about too throw hands! So incredibly happy I’ve experienced the original and is a must ride at Disney!!!
This ride was my childhood. My family had park passes so I rode this so many times, I'd like to say triple digit but realistically probably not. The majority of my childhood toys came from the gift shop at the exit. I know it isn't the first time Disney has replaced a ride but none of the others hurt like this one did.
6:09 If you look at the lower right hand corner, you can see the nose of the Mighty Microscope; an Easter egg that pays tribute to Adventure Thru Inner Space, the Disneyland ride that occupied the space before star tours
When I went on this ride when I was little, I didn't like it because of all the movement during the ride. Now that I'm older I would definitely go on this ride again (if the original Star Tours was still around). I think I would find it to be a really fun ride!
I bruised a couple of my fingers back in the 80s on this ride from holding on too tight...1988-89 i think, holly crap i was so scared , i was 6. My father and my brother were both laughing...it was my first ride like this ever..i still remember parts of it and really thought we went the wrong way...ahaha ...if its not still around its too bad. Agree with the top comment.
Galaxy’s Edge definitely makes up for the mistakes they made here with the update. The changes made in Star Tours resulted in a more overall clean feeling. With changes such as removing the parts baskets in the droid repair room which became bag check. Everything at Galaxy’s Edge has that used, falling apart and rugged feeling that you expect from Star Wars, but I understand why the made the changes they did.
@@WilliamMoe it's made to be cleaner due to the fact that it's supposed to be a prequel to star tours, before the battle of endor. So it was made to look more brand new as if it were based in the sequels
I miss this ride. Now I know there was a rebel pilot on little right screen. I haven't been on Star Tours 2 yet. Maybe I will someday. Until then May the Force be with you.
I remember always laughing my ass off as a kid when those little tv monitors would show the kid photograph chewie, prompting him to do the famous chewie roar.
A fitting tribute, indeed! But not goodbye, I mean there's only so much they can demo and replace between now and 2011, right?! Wonderful work with the camera, audio, everything. The cinematography made me feel like I was there. Great job!!!! GTG

I wish they could do at the very least a version of this but with the updates and have c3po be his usual self. If only they would stop focusing on the newer movies and series and do what it was originally when they updated it... a ride that would be DIFFERENT EVERY TIME YOU RODE IT!!! Heck bring back what the update was SUPPOSED to be and add the death star trench run sequence for one of the second half sequences as some fan service! They have the money, let's see if they can pay attention to what we want!
@ShadowSwordVideo No, this is the old ride before they shut it down to change it. Now it changes every time you ride it, but it used to be just this over and over.
@DisMupPix010 It would be nice to have different 'trips', selected at random by the computer. That way guests could get a different experience every time they ride.
I see what you are saying, but in terms of storytelling, effects, and characters, the adventures continue is overall far superior as it actually is more grounded in the star wars universe with more characters like Boba Fett and Darth Vader and takes you to far more places like Hoth or The under construction Death Star. I loved the old version, but i took off my nostalgia goggles and found the new one to be amazing, practical or not.
I'd disagree. The original feels like stumbling into a SW adventure while The Adventure Continues feels "written" or specifically tailored to an experience when all those specific characters and locations show up.

I like both versions but the first one is the best I wish they would let you have a chance to ride both the original and the new one
Yes, please! Disney loves doing throwbacks. Make it real!
Petition to bring the old Star Tours back.
I would sell my soul to have one of the actual RX-24 droids that were used on the ride.
Yeah me too

Such a classical ride. Anyone here after Paul Ruben passed? :( sad fact, he voiced Captain Rex, aka, RX-24.
This ride was among some of my first exposure to the original trilogy as a child
I love this video and that u can see Rex the whole time😁😁😁
I really loved the 80sness of the original

@@ThiccTropius definitely! I heard about the update for that ride with Ahsoka and The Mandalorian and it sounds so cool!
Thank you for filming this. I took a bunch of pictures, but you got the video footage of the stuff I took the pictures of.

Yeah. Voiced by Pee-Wee Herman.

I was 9 years old when I went on the Star Tours ride and it's still to this day my favorite ride on Disneyland. I'm glad Disney bought Lucasfilm!
After the loss of our favorite Captain Rex in 2023, it’s best to bring this back in one of their loading decks.
definitely prefer the old queue to the new one

The new version of it is still there, but the resort still has all attractions closed down due to COVID-19.
Ok thx for telling me
Listen to the robot voice and it's Pee Wee Herman! he traded in his bike (From Big Adventure) for a spaceship.
And also my favorite part is that we have to wear 3d glasses
@blueguy81 Space Mountain Mission 2 is in Paris. This is in California.
No one is going to point out that Pee Wee Herman is the voice of the robot pilot!!!!
That’s the best part!
