Happy you responded. I wish I took a walk through video like you had, but yours pretty much covers it. 1 16 ft spool was perfect for my 30 gun safe. Here are some pics I had on my phone. Thanks again for the great step by step video. imgur(dot)com/a/e98Me remove dot with .
I like the look that it provides which is why I put it under, I imagine doing it along the back would look the same. Post up a video or pic when yours is done! :)
Great video. This has been on my project list for a while. Quick question....Most instructions for this type of setup involve using a relay, which handles the higher load of the lights. How did you avoid having to use a relay? Is it because the switch interrupts the ground instead of the hot wire, or can this particular switch just handle the load?
Did the magnetic reed switch ever give out? i was reading on some of the forums that sometimes they don't work when mounted on metal gun safes. But, I'd really like to go this route since they're less expensive and I think have less draw than the motion sensor switches.
After having those stupid clip connectors give me more hassle than they are worth, I gave up and I simply solder all my LED strips from now on.. It's a little more tedious but a LOT more secure and stable.. Especially with RGB strips. I'm sure it wouldn't be AS big of an issue with single color LEDs as there are only two connectors, and the difference in current to just ONE of the contacts being ever so slight can cause the entire strip's color to be off.. But still, even with the single color strips, I just solder the two and it's a done deal. *Edit.. And holy shit, what all do you have on your AR man? That thing is beefy as hell. Looks like you have a camcorder mounted on the side of the upper.
I appreciate the time you took to show how to install the magnetic switch you've got the best vid on that thx.
Thanks for this video. I have several applications that I can use this for. You really did a great job of providing detail.
Nice work, I used this as a starting point to my own safe lighting project. Job well done.
Awesome. I have used this same setup for may things like under my fish tank, in a food pantry, and I'm planning on lighting my truck bed!
Great video, thank you for posting. Answered a lot of questions I've had about this
Thanks for sharing your insight. A saw a few videos, but this had a great deal of detail I was looking to obtain.
Black Magnetic Switch is at amzn.to/IoxNyB. Sorry, I thought I posted the link in description!
Sweet!!! that looks amazing..
I really wish I had bought a bigger safe. This one is rather cramped. Amazing job!

Good suggested, I will do that... only problem is I have to unbolt safe to get wires back there!

Good build.
not a problem, glad it helped!
Im glad I saw your video. I had just purchased a 150led kit from hitlights, and realized I could have 2x the LEDs for

Would it been easier to buy a $12 motion sensing led light?
Thanks... Another question.. the magnets say (com. nc. no.) witch one hooks up the led and witch one to the power supply.
Can you tell me how to wire the switch into this setup? Novice Electrician here!!!!
Great vid. Mind if I ask what safe you have? Model #?
Where did u get the black magnetic switch?
IDK if you mentioned it, but how long is the strip of LEDs?
What wire gage you used?

Easier.. Yes.. As bright as these are, I highly doubt it.
You can buy an actual lighting kit for a safe on amazon for around 35$ this is a waste of time and money.
