  • Many companies such as Deloite and Microsoft have moved away from conducting an annual performance review or appraisal. In their evolution as an organization they realize that this is not the best practice to boost employee productivity and morale.
However, many companies still force their managers and employees to do an annual performance review.
If you are in the situation, then you have no choice and must go through with it. Read the full article on our blog page: www.optimusperf...

    Sir! I have two question:
    1. In a big company there are thousands of employees. So does manager has to talk to all the employee?
2.Who is in charge for evaluating employee's performance? (I mean who will help the manager to evaluate so he can decide to give a pay raise)
My English is not good enough so I hope you understand my question :)

The manager should talk and with those employees who report directly to him. In terms of deciding who should give a raise to the employee, this may vary from company to company. Some bigger companies have an HR department who has established guidelines for making decisions regarding pay. Smaller companies usually has the owner or director of finances work with the manager to evaluate pay raises based on performance and other factors. The ideal is to make it clear each year how an employee can get a pay increase.
