Without Bobby there would not have been Derek & The Dominos, or Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. His phenomenal B3, piano and back up vocals perfectly complemented Eric Clapton's works.
I feel like somebody should point out that Bobby didn't merely play a supporting role for EC. He laid down some killer lead vocal tracks with the Dominos
An excellent reading of a fine song. Seeing Whitlock play guitar so well is a revelation. He is usually playing his distinctive piano or organ. He and Coco Carmel seem to be fully committed musicians, all these years after Delaney and Bonnie, after Clapton/ Allman, after all. Inspiring.
That was a quick six minutes, how time passes, the three-part guitar harmonies are heavenly, Its absolutely a fine video in the "raw" capturing their sound, no high-tech enhancements: just the house band type of feel for a job, if so, they've passed the audition.
Why does the brother playing the guitar solo need literally to be kept in the dark?! He tears it up! The sound engineer practically gets more light than he does.
Maybe. Except to get that gig they probably make you demonstrate you know the difference between light and, well, dark. Just how incompetent could the guy have been that he failed that test but they let him light the video anyway? @@regaltip8A

BOBBY - YOU DA' BOSS PAPA, COCO YOU TAKE CARE A' DAT' MAN HE GOT SOOOO MUCH MORE FUCKING LEFT...!
Love Bobby...from the same town in TN not memphis tho..his dad was a Chaplain with county popo and he supervised the doper inquisition in 1972 at the high school Bobby had attended a few years earlier.. they never figured me out tho
I love Tedeschi Trucks but these two are wonderful and Bobby shreds the Fender almost or better than EC himself. Let's have more videos of these people please!
I've always felt that the tempo of the version of this song that appeared on the Layla album was too fast. It was like Eric's vocal was being rushed. This version is much better.
I think Eric knew the pivotal role Bobby played in the dominoes and to the masterpieces they did people don’t things don’t happen stones lost there greatest guitarist in mick Taylor just because jagger/Richards kept the credit for themselves
I always have loved Clapton's vocals, especially on the Layla album, but Bobby is a better singer than almost all the singers out there. He doesn't get the props that Eric and Duane get for that album but he deserves to be right there with them. He's always what has stood out on that album for me.
Not exactly. Listen to the studio version of Derek and the Dominos and you'll hear Duane Allman taking pretty much the same approach to the song. This guy is good - real good, imo.
I tell ya what is "so sad"...this version of this classic! I love Whitlock but this sounds like shit from a 70ish yo man, which it is. Makes me "so sad"...to hear this after loving the original!
Bobby and Coco's voices are dope.
Without Bobby there would not have been Derek & The Dominos, or Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. His phenomenal B3, piano and back up vocals perfectly complemented Eric Clapton's works.
No Kidding! Or George's "All things Must Pass." Bobby gave that LP it's AMERICAN SOUL.
I feel like somebody should point out that Bobby didn't merely play a supporting role for EC. He laid down some killer lead vocal tracks with the Dominos
Indeed !
Most accurate statement on the internet!
Wow, I've been following Boby & Coco on their channel for years and this 10-year-old video just popped up. Love it!

Bobby was the backbone in 'Layla'
Butch Alano Amen.
Indeed!
I always liked Bobby' s voice. Soulful and sweet
Love this couple! They are the real deal! Good music, good people! Bobby is rocking better than ever! Must be the beauty by his side!

Get yer wha wha’s out Bobby ! Very cool groove . Guy on Lead is smokin it . 👍
I had no idea Bobby Whitlock was such an outstanding guitarist. No idea at all.
he's just playing rhythm
@@gerrydooley951Maybe, but he is absolutely killing it.

Super Exellent👌👌👌MEGA PHANTASTIC WOOW
beautiful...................................................................
Lovely....Bobby was always the real deal
Why does the brother playing the guitar solo need literally to be kept in the dark?! He tears it up! The sound engineer practically gets more light than he does.
Because in my professional experience most lighting guys are completely clueless
Perhaps, it is by choice. Half shadow.
he is killing it

Bobby, Coco, you're keepin the lead guitarist in the dark (camera hogs?? LOL). Luv Ya!
Good job.
Wow!
So cool
Nice. Love Bobby and CoCo... but they really needed to show the guy on lead as he killed it. Rhythm section was also shown no love here.
I love Tedeschi Trucks but these two are wonderful and Bobby shreds the Fender almost or better than EC himself. Let's have more videos of these people please!
Coco looks great. This configuration needs to get back out there!
👍😎❤🖖
Love folks
Yes he was.
💘
Break up song for every relationship ive ever had
I never saw him play guitar, always B3 or Leslie

love stinks more than you know ,,it is your nose knows

Musicmaster bass guitar was my first love and the first time I have ever seen one used by a professional band, mustang bass yes, Musicmaster nope.
👍👍

Who’s the guy in the shadow?
thats not too bad
He was always a much better singer than Clapton.

Why does love have to hide the drummer🥁
🥰😹
You deserve a better band bobby.
Way to shit on perfect strangers. What a guy (or girl) you are.
Wait till you here the new kid Quinn Sullivan do this...extraordinary.
Plays it maybe the way ot was meant to be
That guitar player stepping all over the whole song he might be good with the fast licks but he's stepping all over the rhythm section
Not exactly. Listen to the studio version of Derek and the Dominos and you'll hear Duane Allman taking pretty much the same approach to the song. This guy is good - real good, imo.
He wrote the song, he can do whatever he wants!
Lead guitarist doesn't know how to serve the song. Less is more sir.

I would disagree with Scott.
