I think the guy egging on his mate knew very well that the guard would respond very violently should you try and touch his weapon. He was just taunting his mate, akin to saying 'go ahead and pull the pin on thst grenade, it won't go bang!' And judging by the body language and the speed at which he jumped and ran when the guard growled at him, it didn't strike me as them believing nothing would happen. Disrespectful? Yes, but almost more in s schoolboy 'dare your mates' kind of way.
