Congratulations! I'm so glad to see you're doing so well. I know all too well how fast you can get bored when you're home stuck with restrictions. You've got this!🤗
Thanks Leah!! Yes it’s SO BORING. My boyfriend’s family is on vacation, he is working, and my family just left on vacation today. I could have gone with them but I thought it would be better to stay home and rest. The last thing I want is an emergency 1000’s of miles from my doctor. My little sister and her husband didn’t go with everyone else on vacation and will be coming over with my nephew on Sunday. He’s called several times asking about my “ouchies” (he’s going on 4). I took the steri strips off so they don’t look so scary. I am hoping to get cleared to drive on Tuesday so I can go to my aunt and uncle’s house to celebrate the holiday. Also to show off my 30lbs weight loss!!
You scared me. Haldol is an antipsychotic medication. I worked, as a speech pathologist at a facility for emotionally disturbed children so I'm familiar with anti-psychotic meds. Are you probably taking haloperidol? I had 5 incisions and I can now only find 3. One is inside my belly button.
You know I took a second look and you’re right. They referred to it as Haldol in the hospital!! I thought it was weird that I was being given an anti-psychotic (I even questioned it with the rounding doctors) and they said “it’s also an anti nausea medication.” Not being a professional I know that drugs can have a dual purpose, but yes you’re right. I guess I know now that Haldol and Haloperidol aren’t the same! That makes me angry that doctors can’t talk to patients intelligently about meds and the proper names of medications. I learn mostly by ear (PBS and The American Experience on as I type this) and usually I can recall the most mundane information years later.
If the medicine bottle does say haldol instead of haliperidol, I'd stop taking it. Haldol isn't even a good anti-psychotic med. Docs don't like to be questioned and quite often I don't until I explore the issues. But we should always be our own best advocates and a really good doc always listens to his patient. We know ourselves the best.
