Pretty cool of Traxxas to come up with this. Is it perfect? no but I'm sure the aftermarket will take care of that. Traxxas isn't afraid to come up with products that appeal to the masses and the younger crowd.
You can’t be serious right the solid axle monster truck category is huge long before Traxxas thought of this. Come up with products.😂🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ and anyone that makes aftermarket for Traxxas Traxxas will just shut them down
I feel like Traxxas was going for an old school monster truck here. Not high performance, but fun to drive and looks bad ass. The Losi and smashers have the modern truck and high performance thing down.
@petejones6827 🤷♂️🤷♂️ Greg gave an honest review, he said it was slow-- He said that they should've added second oil filled shocks. Or are you just pissed because he pointed out some of the positives of the truck?
I think something everyone is missing is that these are very reminiscent of older monster trucks like those from the 80s. Slow, bouncy, real lifted truck frame with big wheels. Feels like they were going for that old school monster truck feeling. Everybody sees the phrase monster truck and thinks of xmaxx or stampede, but this is more like a real monster. It’s probably still gonna be way too expensive though lol
For an extra $45 just get a Losi 1/18 LMT... They're 1/10 basher fast, have a powder coated aluminium frame, interior with driver, metal links, and have licensed Grave Digger etc bodies with matching LED's
Personally I would love to see Traxxas make a 1/10 scale version with vxl motor options, or hell even a more modern monster truck design. I would love to see a solid axle version of the tmaxx.
Nice toys for the kids this summer. They could've sell with the speed gear allready installed though, it's stock trx4m speed, way too slow for a bigfoot.
@@INSIDIOUS-ONE hey karen we know it's a "hobby grade" RC. But look at it ! it's a "bigfoot" that can't even jump stock and it does look like a little toy. If you think this is for die hard RC hobbyists you're crazy, this is a overpriced toy with replacement parts you can buy.
I think the main cause of the bouncing is the twin shocks. The suspension is harder with the extra springs, resulting in limiting suspension movement. It can`t absorb shocks because the springs aren't compressing enough.
Traxxas has made some amazing cars like the xmaxx, trx4 and xrt but the trx4mt is just not good. in my opinion $200 is way overpriced for a car that only goes 4 mph and only have 4 out of the 8 shocks are filled with oil, and even if they were it would all leak out because the stock trx4m shocks are really bad and they leak oil. I think traxxas could have done a lot better with this car considering the losi mini LMT is almost the same prince and it is way better. The only good thing about this car is it looks good and would kinda be a good beginner rc. but if I was going to go with a first rc I would go with the base modal slash witch is only $239. the trx4mt is basically a over priced mini crawler trying to be a monster truck. Traxxas you could have done better.
This is perfect for a 5 year old just getting into R/C, people find way too much to complain about in the comment section. This is definitely geared towards children.
Traxxas plastic is one of the most indestructible plastics in RC. Metal does not mean better quality. The Amazon toys are made out of pot metal. You can bend it just by looking at it and it cracks and strips like butter. The SCX24 is the same thing. They give you a hobby a great platform you can build off of. This truck is the same way. The TRX4M is a beast with upgrades and is super popular.
Yeah, I’d trust Traxxas plastic more than metal from a cheap Amazon RC. I’m on my 6th traxxas crawler and haven’t broken anything on any of those trucks.
Traxxas isn’t dumb. They will release a full line up of upgrades from a higher performance motor, metal upgrades, bearings, etc. They make so much money by making people buy all the upgrades.
The speed out of the box and with the high speed gear is really underwhelming compared to the other 1/18 scale options like the FMS or Losi. I’ll wait to see what the aftermarket will bring first.
I am a traxxas fan and this is seriously disappointing to me. In my opinion it needed to have wider axles, metal internal gears, and a micro brushless system along with the high speed gearing. As it currently sits, it is at a similar level to the walmart toy grade rcs except with porpotrtiomal throttle. Sorry, Traxxas, but you dropped the ball on this one.
Super clean looking trucks. The Dual shocks and side panel really looks nice. Thanks for showing the gear conversion. Great job as always. You are the most knowledgeable RC guy out there. Truly 👍
Bet there will be an overpriced Traxxas brushless system for these soon. Typical Traxxas….nickel and dime you to death. The crawler version don’t crawl and the monster truck does basically 😆
Pretty good! I have another video coming up with that spot. Been looking for you guys every time I drive by. But I just see the tire tracks you leave LOL
Needs oil in the other shock, and remove the spring. Probably still too bouncy? They look good but dang they’re slow! Bore myself to death driving that I need to be able to break something
Not too bad, reminds me of 80’s monsters, but if I was the designer, and had to make something very similar to this, I would make them 1/2” to 1” longer, maybe a half inch wider, and make them go like 8 MPH out of the box.
This is better as a monster truck crawler (i know it competes with the fms smasher), otherwise its way too slow thus I cant get into it if looking at the rc from faraway (unlike an rc crawler, u get up close)... which thus makes it no better than a Very expensive diecast scale model car. Would rather get the $200 bigfoot stampede or the armma typhon grom (recent buy and very good actually)
Appreciate the review They look great, but going to have to say it's a miss for me. Almost toy grade slow for a monster truck-can't even jump or do a wheelie, come on.
My old defender trx4m just needs the wheels. I built it up with furitek when they released the trx4m best part is the furitek micro komodo also has a monster truck mode you can switch off the drag brake from your phone.
Looks pretty cool but appears to be short on speed and needs some hex extensions/wider axles to be more stable. For a mini monster truck, mini LMT is looking much better.
You usually show new RC vehicles first , so I was curious to when you might have the new four wheel drive Stampede that has been said to be the modified and replacement for the Hoss . Very curious to see since I bought one already
Thats got to be the worst driving mini car to come out. Traxxas really needs to step up their game, this compared to the Losi mini LMT is a joke. For $70 more dollars you get qaulity chassis with a proper suspension and much more speed. This is basically a crawler made to look like a monster truck. A crawler and monster truck should never be on the same chassis.
Cool idea, disappointing execution. But idk what else to expect from traxxas, between this and the maxx slash, traxxas really seems to be losing their touch even more.
Wow this one is a massive disappointment. Bouncy suspension, still using bushings, 7 mph top speed even with the speed gearing, overpriced… this release is laughable. One filled shock per corner? Really? Arrma comes out with the groms and traxxas drops this turd? Do better traxxas.
@nate0765 this will end up being $200 or more. $260 gets you a mini lmt that has way more options and does a lot more then this all around. Only a traxxas fan would pick this up.
Very very cool. Definitely going for one or both. Just wish it would be a little faster to do at least wheelies, this way it’s a crawler with mt tires. Say 249$ for a faster version would be mint 👍👍👍
Too much plastic for a truck of this price...at least the diff gears should be metal...metal links as well. Also they should have developed a smaller controller with 1 hand drive built in...the controller as big as the truck looks stupid.
Hope they dont suck so bad that kids get turned off from the hobby right out of the gate. Not likely though. Traxxas acts like kids can or even want to wrench on their trucks and fix all the broken and sub par parts on their toys.
whats the fastest drop in motor, i have the speed gears, but its not fast enough to really have enough fun on the garage cement. needs more speed. i want to make a drift machine.
