  • Take a look behind the scenes of the new film by Robert Eggers.
    Alexander Skarsgård stars as Prince Amleth, who fled his home as a young boy after seeing his father brutally murdered by his uncle. And yes, that does sound like 'The Lion King' in a Viking setting.

      90 million, 2hour movie compared to 5 to 8 million an episode Vikings show.they don't have the worries that those cable TV shows have to deal with. I'm just happy for a 90 million dollar Viking movie. Lol

    A mad, violent, feverish revenge flick that blurs the line between grounded historical fiction and lurid folklore. It's not for everyone; a lot of you will hate it. But watch it anyway - like all great art, it needs to be experienced for the experience's sake.

    Crazy how Amleth is an anagram for Hamlet which is a similar story. Don’t know if that was intentional or not but just adds to how good this movie was nonetheless

    • @MINDPLUNK
      @MINDPLUNK 2 года назад +10

      From what I read, Amleth was a Scandinavian story from the 1200s that inspired Shakespeare to write Hamlet. This film was based on the original story

    • @ThorfinnMacbeth
      @ThorfinnMacbeth 2 года назад +2

      Yes (as the video says) its the original Hamlet story. (The movie was also in dialogue with shakespeares hamlet throughout for me in a great way.)

    • @hanslanda8303

      @@peeppaa1997 yes I watched the video…what my comment was focused on was amleth being an intentional or not anagram of Hamlet. Not whether it was influenced by the original amleth story. Hop off.

      @maggiemcfly5267 2 года назад +1

      Not crazy and not an anagran. The story of Amleth was the inspiration for Hamlet.

    Just finished seeing this movie on the big screen. I will never forget it! Doing some history reading about England in the 10th Century. "The Ecclesiastical History of England by the Venerable Bede! Lots of Viking raids at the time. Also my girl friend is Danish with the golden blond hair. Now I want to buy her a helmet just to spice things up!

    Every actor was phenomenal in this movie. But damn, Ethan Hawke has been killing it. Comic fans aren’t too excited about MoonKnight, but Hawke was great as the villain. He was soo great in The Black Phone, little dialogue and not being able to see his face sometimes but what he gave through is memorable. The Northman, a small role as a King was again great. I wish he had the same time as Mufasa did lol. William DeFoe as had a small role but stood out as he always does. My favorite thing in cinema is a great one shot take. We got two in this movie.
    Eggers understands revenge. A certain video game director does not.
