Looks really nice on my 16 ft trailer I want to replace the wood with steel checker plate and also add front electric brakes because it has rear brakes and a LED lightbar with a 12k lb winch with solar battery back up and utility box on tongue area to hold tie down straps and battery.
Nice job , I've been meaning to do the same with my single axle tilt trailer but not sure if to use a 20 gauge metal sheet on it. At least for the sides, measurements 33 in x 14 ft. You think it will be ok to use 20 or should I go with something stronger ? Thank you in advance
I wasn’t able to tell, but did the seams of your plate fall on a crossmember (for strength)? It appeared that they fell wherever and you simply welded the seams? I have a like project I’m considering doing with my 18’ car hauler which has a rotted floor. With the price of lumber as it is currently I would prefer to spend a little more and use diamond plate.
I just let them fall where ever they landed, but I did put flat bar on its edge underneath to help keep the seams level and add strength. The seams will hold anything the trailer will haul 😂! Appreciate you watching!
They are 5/8” Weld on D-rings. I think I ordered some from eBay and got shorted then went to a local supplier and purchased the rest. Thanks for watching!
No, I never watch them in close caption, I can imagine it’s not what I’m actually saying.🤣 I can’t get Siri to understand me either. Thanks for watching!
It looks like the new saw did a good job. You did a professional job on the trailer.
Benny Kennedy Thanks!

Having both axles brake is very important! Thanks for watching
Ok thank you
looks pretty nice...can that expanded metal on the tailgate handle the weight of a vehicle?
If your tailgate frame is constructed properly yes.

20 gauge is pretty thin. I think I’d go with at least 14 gauge.
@@khtractors thank you for the advice, much appreciated 👍
Ben that one heavy-duty trailer wish we had one thanks
God Bless All
PaK
A trailer is very handy to have!
What thickness is the flooring? And where did you order it from?
It’s 11gauge which is 1/8”. I got it from a local supplier in Big Stone Gap VA.
K&H Tractors thank you
Those look to be 3500 axles. How was the GVCW impacted when you added the steel floor?
The steel probably added 300 lbs over the weight of the wood. Thanks for watching
This guy is awesome
😄 Thanks!
How thick is the diamond plate? What is the maximum span that it is supported?
It’s 11 gauge and I spanned about two feet. Seemed plenty strong.

Do you mind sharing what rings you used or the link to order them?

nice job wish i could find some of that metal reasonalble price for mine
I bet it’s expensive right now. Steel has been going up rapidly!
how much did metal cost?
yourdaddidwhat I think it was around $900 to do the floor and tailgate.
I am sure you are doing a fine job - I just can't understand a word you are saying.....
It’s a language of its own! Thanks for watching!
Have you watched back your video and just watched close caption? Because what your saying and what's coming up on the screen isnt close..lol..
No, I never watch them in close caption, I can imagine it’s not what I’m actually saying.🤣 I can’t get Siri to understand me either. Thanks for watching!
You help me figure out what I'm going to do to my trailer I got now. The only thing I dont have to build is the tailgate.
This one worked out well! Best of luck!
How much did you charge for the floor ?
Best I remember the total job was around $1500 labor and materials. That diamond floor plate is expensive.
