Brother Stilgo I admire your stamina and persistent against such obviously entrenched leaders. Please continue. I have your concerns but neither your energy or eloquence. I have held many callings for over 40 years and never satisfied by leadership above the stake Presidency level. As Bishop I came into many situations where I was directed contrary to my conscience and understanding of scripture. My current situation is one of attending inactivity due to a lack of faith and trust in the churches general authority. My faith in Christ remains. My belief that the LDS church is fundamentally true is in tact but shaky.

@@Sam-tu4hp I did watch the video, for instance, nemo implies that president Nelson’s airplane story is a lie. However, he does not have unequivocal conclusive evidence to prove that is a lie. There could be facts that he is missing. He hasn’t spoken directly to president Nelson about that incident nor heard all the details from him, so he cannot firmly come to the conclusion that president Nelson told a lie about that story. This is the same with his other claims of the church lying. He doesn’t have all the context nor details. Nemo is jumping to conclusions to fit his antimormon narrative. And then broadcasting this on his RUclips channel. Antimormons do this with church history and policy criticism as well.
If the IRS sees things that don’t make since to them on tax forms they do an audit to better understand the whole picture. This audit involves both parties providing data. Nemo is not doing a fair audit of these claims before labeling church leaders as liars.

I agree it's disheartening to see all the stubbornness but just think about all the people we _do_ know who have had their shelf broken, or at least added to, by things exactly like this. It took a number of things for me, but eventually my shelf did break and I left and my opinions against the Church have only matured and grown since then because I learned about even more things like this. That exact timeline is shared by so many others. While it may appear at first that this is having little to no affect on TBMs, it absolutely is!

      Great video!
There are different groups that have different reasons for not having an issue with the "lying".
My father always taught me that prophets are fallible. TBMs that have read books like rough stone rolling, read the essays as soon as they came out etc. Know the prophets have been fallible from day one.
I'm in my 30s and I get details wrong when I'm telling stories from a year ago. My dad is 60s and he gets things mixed up all the time. President Nelson is 98. Not hard for my dad and I to forgive him for not remembering the details of evens from over half century ago.
All that said, electrotherapy was wrong. Even a hard core TBM who believes gay marriage is the devil's work is unlikely to believe that elctro therapy was inspired by God.
Seems to me a formal apology from Oakes is the least damaging response here.

It seldom bodes well for whistle blowers; they are nearly always seen by those in authority as destabilising to the status quo. In a healthy organisation they are welcomed as a source to recognise areas to improve. Members needs to recognise the Church is not perfect (fallible) and like individuals the principle of repentance should also apply. Importantly the principle of repentance needs to be seen to work in practice through all levels of the Church. In the long run, this aligns the Church more fully with Gospel principles and makes the Church a better vehicle for the work of the Lord.

According to the church's scriptures, The Book of Mormon teaches if the higher judges judge or act unrighteously, they are to be judged by lower judges according to the voice of the people (church members).
    Mosiah 29:28-29
28 And now if ye have judges, and they do not judge you according to the law which has been given, ye can cause that they may be judged of a higher judge.
29 If your higher judges do not judge righteous judgments, ye shall cause that a small number of your lower judges should be gathered together, and they shall judge your higher judges, according to the voice of the people.
If local authorities agree with the evidence, the church's scriptures teach they are to gather together and judge the higher judges.
So concerning who is the first presidency accountable to, according to scripture, it's accountable to the members of the church.

Sustaining vote at 1:05. I have come to the realization that many members do not understand what the word sustain means. They will often challenge the authority of local leaders and not support their decisions regarding a stake or ward. However they still give a sustaining vote at ward or stake conference. It does not surprise me when people including leaders act oddly when there is a person who gives an opposing vote. They don't know what to do. And what exactly is supposed to be done after a person does oppose? Many leaders probably never took it that seriously in the past since opposing votes made up less than 1% of active membership at conferences.

It's a simple question that really deserves a simple explanation. Not a wild goose chase.
The fact he couldn't or rather he wouldn't answer it, is likely because he's not a prophet.
I would think a man who speaks on behalf of a quote on quote "omniscient God" you would think he'd have a means to provide the answer or just to come clean and admit he's a vile man and a false teacher.
The real reason why he's probably acting so self righteous and immune to criticism is likely because dallon has probably been endowed with the second anointment and probably thinks he's untouchable to criticism because of it.
If any of you don't know what I'm talking, you need to research that.

But NEMO, there's one huge problem with Common Consent and where the brethren hold the ultimate trump card! That is, "Continuous Revelation." When you have the ability to change the rules...move the goal post at anytime, you can excuse any behavior. What would be noble is an acknowledgement of the wrong doing and dishonesty to each individual offense. Rather than the lawyerly and universal approach of, "we regret..." Or "prophets are fallible."

Looking around the Conference Center and the 22,000 in attendance, I wondered what would happen if you stood and opposed a vote. Would anyone dare oppose? I doubt they would outloud even if they did. Thank you for this very insightful program.

Dear Nemo, I have one wee question to ask which I have also asked on Quora "Why does the LDS Church not allow some of its congregation into its temples? Jesus said, "Whatsoever You Do to the Least of My Brothers You Do unto Me"; Matthew 25:40." I thought of this question when I was watching your videos and heard that you were refused a Temple recommend to get into a Temple. I found that rather odd as all are welcome into a place of worship. I am not a Mormon and you are but in terms of the temple we are treated the same and refused entrance. Good luck with your endeavours and remember what the Anglican Bishop of Worcester Hugh Latimer said in 1555 "tell the truth and shame the devil".

Brilliant, Nemo! You naughty boy, harassing those poor (billionaire) church leaders! Hilarious!
I live in SLC, UT. Never Mo, but I love, love, love your asking for accountability. You're really a burr under their saddle and I'm loving it. I find Holland's homophobia nauseating. And yes, he was a key figure in intruding into another state's politics, CA Prop. 8. There was advertising here. So much for separation of church & state. That they excommunicate anyone who dissents and manage to keep the brethren from questioning anything, convinces me of the utter cult-like nature of this org. I'm ex-cath and find there were cult-like features, but we can just walk away without the intense shaming and shunning that is so abusive in LDS. I love that you are challenging these octogenarians to be truthful, but I'm afraid they are able to keep the status quo with the "sheeple." Yes, on the shock "therapy" @ BYU. Holland recently gave a scathing and abusive public comment on a BYU Valedictorian's excellent speech in which he came out. Many, many applauded this. It was a beautiful address.

Nemo, you're incredibly methodical and patient. Like several others here, I feel that top leaders have shown themselves to not be what they profess, beyond any doubt. However, I admire your tenacity and discipline to try so hard to get them to engage with you on issues that matter--issues which, if treated the way they're treated when you or I err, give cause for counsel, correction and sometimes disciplinary action. One question on the second anointing: is there anything written about it that suggests it guarantees recipients unwavering church standing if they sin their way to celestial glory?

I recently just learnt how Marriott managed to earn so much money from the LGBT market and even said’ ““Our church is very much opposed to alcohol and we’re probably one of the biggest sales engines of liquor in the United States. I don’t drink. We serve a lot of liquor. You’re in business. You’ve got to make money. We have to appeal to the masses out there, no matter what their beliefs are.” And he served in the Area Seventy in 2011.
Had Bill Marriott been warned by church and even threatened to be excommunicated for his stance?
