I live in a cold place, one thing I would add is a sleeping bag. If Your in a survival situation the number one thing that will keep you alive is shelter. Shelter in the cold means warmth. So if your in your car you should be protected from the wind but your car won't always keep you warm especially if you run out of fuel. A -30 bag or better is a good idea. One more thing, a space blanket will not keep you warm at that extreme cold, but it can boost the warmth of your sleeping bag.
Edit a bag recommendation German 5-Piece Winter Sleeping Bag rated to -35c or US Army ACU IMSS 5 Piece Military Sleeping Bag -40c/f

I am surprised that there is no mention of a good flashlight or head torch. A car chargeble light source is so handy in the dark. And in the north, in winter, it is DARK!

There are battery powered car starters now that don't need an outlet, and also doubles as a powerbank.
About food, average person does not want to be stuck without it for days or weeks. It's also a mental survival tool. Having an MRE on a wilderness trip is better that two axes.
Check batteries and food for expiration once a year. Learn how to use all items.

battery powered car starters in the winter might not work if it's to cold. they can also just drain from the cold weather.
in any other situation it would be fine.

@@sirBrouwer Depends on how cold it is in the car where it is stored. Warm garage vs street parking. A buyer should consult the product recommended storage temperature range.

@@bgezal if the car is in the garage itself it would most likely not need the jump start for that reason.
if you are out and about the overnight cold could be a problem.
unless you have what they have in i think Norway has.
they have a car heading system to keep cars warmish all winter. That works by the street light grit if I got it correct.

Hi. Do you have any recommendations?

@@NiesLife I don't know where you live but the best advice I could give. Is to go to a auto repair shop and ask the mechanics what they are using. Sure the version they use might be overkill but a version based on their machine in your local area. Might be best.

In the survival scenarios discussed in the video where a car kit would come in handy.. I disagree with having axes and saws being prioritized over water (and first aid, and food).
Yes, you could melt snow (and drink it with all the chemical residues of vehicle emissions around the roadside) but if you are in an accident, and need to provide some first aid until medics arrive ( flushing out something in the eye, cooling down a burn, cleaning a wound to be able to see the damage etc) would you really want to wait till you melt the (dirty) snow with an esbit stove?
Yes we can last several days without water and weeks without food, but how many of our bodies are used to tolerating extended periods of hunger and dehydration? And how many of us can make well thought out rational decisions (which is crucial in any emergency) when we are out of our minds with hunger and thirst?
I would also suggest having some kind of emergency flairs (LED ones with magnets that sticks to the car) available. If your car is dead in a whiteout, you would need the vehicles coming behind you to be able to see you far away enough to be able to stop and avoid a pile up.
I also carry one canned heat tin that is safe for indoor use (in order to save fuel or if I'm out of fuel when I'm in the car for longer), an extra set of clothes including hats, gloves and socks), a power bank with cables, a flash light and a snow brush (lol)

Just a friendly reminder that not all equipment is legal in all jurisdictions. It's worth it to check laws about what knives you can and cannot carry in Canada (or anywhere, of course).
