I’ve struggled with anxiety all of my life and this song was the only one that spoke to me about this. It’s my solace.
I hope you are doing well. Well done on speaking out Sir.
Be well, Rudy. It’s a beautiful song.
First of all, whoever mic'ed the drums is amazing, they sound great. Also, the soprano sax (clarinet?) is perfect, and the vocals are so good―I can't get over how well Colin can still sing. Thanks Colin and the band.
His voice has lost nothing. What a star.
100%! Amazing. And the harmonization is just perfect!! And when the guitar and sax sync up at the end of the solo.... Still gives me goosebumps. This version is tight, and spot on!!
Love it! Everything sounds nice and crisp. The man is a beast with vocals.
I’ve heard this song x almost 40years and no “overkill” of it yet 🙄
I know !!! It's one of those songs I never, ever got tired of. Briliant lyrics and melody, driving beat and more hooks than one song should be able to handle.
Jesus! 40 later, the same voice, the same sound, of sure, the one of the most beautifull song ever! Love this song, love you Colin and MAW for makes me happy every day that I listening this amazing song! Bless you all !🤩🤩🤩🙏🙏👍👍👏👏
We had such great music growing up in the 80s
. Ty for your contribution Colin hay
That orange Duesenberg, oh my! Way to go Colin Hay absolutely loving this! At 50 now I still love my favourite band Men at Work!
Same with me,only I'm 52!😎
I'm 53. 😉
Colin Hay ....overkill GREAT SONG !!!! Cecilia Noel second voices amazing both of you... greatings from Argentina !!!
What a classy voice. Not lost anything. So impressive, thanks for the songs Colin!
Not sure if you actually see these comments Colin, but my Father who passed away 11 years ago absolutely loved Men at Work. He wanted to see you in concert very badly but didn't get the chance. I love Men at Work and your music just as much..however back in the heyday, the 80's I was very much into hair bands and metal. Your music was our common ground. When I outgrew the metal and hair bands faded away, this stood the test of time.
I hear you may be coming near me in Hammondsport NY...I'll have to look into that to see if the rumor is true. Thank you for giving us decades of music and sharing your gift. As a guitarist/singer myself I appreciate how much it means.
my deepest condolences
The harmony vocals here are just beautiful!. ✌🏻❤️
I remember the day I listened the first time to this song on the radio. I loved it from the first second...many years have passed and I love it still...all the versions. Thank you, Colin for this marvellous song. Since then many goats appeared and faded away. ;)
Hey Charlie,
In 1982, you were probably just a new born when this song was released... 😉
But, ok, I can understand you liked when you heard it for the first. You're a fan as I am...
BTW, these are not goats (Ziegen) that fade away but rather ghosts (Geister)... 😉😉
These live sessions bring new life to alrrady timelessly wonderful songs. Thank you Colin
High sensations 🎉
My absolute favorite...thanks for writing, singing, continuing to evolve and perform it over the years. The best piece of overwriting ever
I love all the stuff from the first 2 albums but this is the best Men at Work song by far, imo.
Glad you're still kicking and making music. P.S Get your ass to Seattle! :)
Colin is coming to my town!
Love this man ! Can still hit those high notes , God bless . Love the song ..Love that the new band keeping it tight ....Men at work kept me sane in the eighties and still does today . 🎸👍🏼❤️
Your playing live for us each Monday is an amazing and delightful gift. A great reason for me to love Mondays! Much warmth to you and this band Colin!
Thank you Colin this is my favorite song from men at work. I really enjoy that. Thanks brother. 🙏
Love this song!Still my favorite song from "Cargo" and one of my favorite tunes in general.Hauntingly beautiful!
Indeed it's hauntingly...well you know, goats appear and fade away... ;)
@@charlieranger4598 No kidding,lol!Yes,I think they did a good job this week,don't you?;D
@@starletohara1631 Who, the goats? 🤭
@@charlieranger4598 Lol!Yes,the goats..and The band was pretty good,too!😁
@@charlieranger4598 John Prine used to tell a story about the audience requesting a song of his "Half An Enchilada". He finally figured out they wanted to hear "Half an inch of water and I think I'm going to drown." I remember that along with Colin's "goat" requests!
This song is truly a gift to us all. Thanks Colin!
Colin my boy.....what a voice you still have.....you da man!!!!!
Thank you , Colin❣️From Japan.
And here it is -- my favorite MaW song of all time, and one of my favorite songs, all-time, by ANY band.
Love this song! Thank you Colin Hay.
Fine wine Colin! This is one of the best written songs ever. Right up there with a Beatles masterpiece. Good job bringing light to the fact that we are all human with anxieties, fears, depression... Some times, it's all too much... Overkill. Peace out🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌
One of the best Pop songs written, No question !!!
One of the greatest songs of the 80's
Such an amazing song !
This is an overkill song that carry still the same spirit as 40 years ago. 👍👍
I love this song sooooooo much. I have a 45 from back in the day that gets frequent rotation on my turntable. Such a beautiful song! Still gives me goosebumps. 💖💖💖
And the good memories come flooding back...
I flew out to California from Nashville just to see them play live at the Saban theatre in December 2021. They sounded great and Colin's voice is still amazing. It was a special experience I would gladly do again if I get the chance. Overkill is my favourite.
Absolutely amazing song.
Congrats from Brazil!!❤👏👏👏
What a beautiful version. This song contains some of the most wonderful harmonies in the history of rock and pop music!
That voice is just spectacular. Nice to see the guitar goes to 11
Colin, this is my go to Men At Work song. The melody and lyrics synchronise so well that it lives within the heart and mind since the first time I heard it.
Lovely presentation as always Colin. I like the take on it here. I still like the original version better, simply because it, the whole album, the band, all of it, was such a huge part of my youth. I was a teen at the time, just seeing the world partly through adult eyes, all new things, scary, and wonderful. This song, and the whole album, captured that moment for me. It will forever be a huge part of the soundtrack to my "awakening" into the adult world. Brilliant.
This song means the absolute world to me. Thank you very much. -- Seattle, WA
Scotland's finest 🏴🙋♂️ #ColinHay
Fuck off with that shite. Scotland’s finest. Meaningless and divisive. Oh look! David Byrne of Talking Heads was born in Scotland that must mean that I’m great too. I’m Scottish. Please stop peddling this idea that just because someone who has happened to be born in Scotland somehow applies to your own abilities. I’m so fucking tired of Nationalism.
@@Bricameron Um ... doesn't it just mean JJ thinks Colin is Scotland's finest eg finest musical export? Like "Scotland's Finest Whisky" or "England's Finest Cheese"?
@@ScottieInspired Probably.
@@Bricameron Nice babble bro. The soy's gone straight to your brain.
@@Davuitar Whoosh! I had thought I had done something wrong.
Keep hitting those high notes, Colin! Overkill, forever!
My favourite men at work song and played so well that it gave me goosebumps!! Thanks to all of you ❤️😊
Thank you, then and still. Cheers.
I've been listening to Men at Work since I was a kid ... I'm so very impressed with all of the musicians you have with you now and especially you Colin Hayes your voice has not changed really since I was a kid and listening to your albums. You're an amazing musician and the lyrics really hit home for me for sure.
My favorite version of this is by far Colin's solo acoustic off of Man @ Work
This song only gets better, every time I hear it
Magic
Beautiful song and great musicians! Greetings from Brazil. ♥️
Esse é o tipo de evento que vale a pena aguardar. ( Itaoca Praia, ES / Brasil )

Tem previsão deles virem ao Brasil?
I heard Overkill for first time in a long time a few years back. I started crying --it's an unreal piece.
Lo más chingon y clasico que puede haber en música sin importar el idioma👍
1st time I heard this song was in Voortrekkerhoogter Pretoria South Africa during National Service basic training 1983 , Wow
Colin leaning into "Too deep" vocal, love it!
And it sounds as good as it did 40 years ago. Brilliant and timeless. Thanks for this my sober brother!!!
That was beautiful it gets me every time I love that tune as to be one of my all time favourite songs I remember back in the eighties waiting for the record shop to open the day it was released rushing home to play it on a record player ,not like nowadays you just download it ...
Thank you Colin and the band xx
One of the Best Bands Ever(MAW)😊
um dos melhores músicos que eu já escutei e amo de paixão essa voz absurda!
Such a great piece from the 80s
Colin James.. be sure!!!! You and your songs are one of the absoulute greatist singer/ songer writer!!!!!!! Amazing!!!!!!!
Perfect 😢
I can't get to sleep
I think about the implication
Of diving in too deep
And possibly the complications
Especially at night
I worry over situations
I know will be alright
Perhaps it's just imagination
Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away
Alone between the sheets
Only brings exasperation
It's time to walk the streets
Smell the desperation
At least there's pretty lights
And though there's little variatios
It nullifies the night
From overkill
Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat, shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away
Come back another day
I can't get to sleep
I think about the implications
Of diving in too deep
And possibly the complications
Especially at night
I worry over situations that
I know will be alright
It's just overkill
Day after day it reappears
Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear
Ghosts appear and fade away
Ghosts appear and fade away
Ghosts appear and fade away
Mais uma música espetacular 😍..
Agora é só esperar e curtir A vontade...
" Men At Work Overkill ".
aqui e de 👉 ( Juazeiro do Norte Ceará ) Brasil 🙌
When I heard you do this song solo on acoustic guitar solo, it won my heart. But now I welcome back that full sound and its joy. You got me hooked either way.
Colin is the best! Love his songs!
Hard to believe that a song that I only vaguely recall ever hearing 40 years ago when it came out could become my current favorite song in the world... but somehow it has. All I can say is thank you to that beautiful Duesenberg for making me click on this.
"Goats appear and fade away..."
(For me as a non-native-speaker this always had been the most mysterious part of this song.)
Ghosts?
I had a vest just like that one, lost it some 25 years ago somewhere in Melbourne.... If you got it at The Op shop then I'll know....Good taste anyway. (Edit) or perhaps its just imagination...
The highlight of my RUclips week and then some. Please keep it going and hope to see you live in London soon 🤞
Happy birthday Colin
What a banging choon this is ……and a fab performance of it 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
La historia de mi vida... Muchas gracias Colin & Amigos... MEN AT WORK. 08.08.2021

Great up tempo rock version.
Awesome sounds great how good does the mix sound. Colins vocals and guitar sounds spectacular
Super!
One of the Best Bands Ever(MAW)
One of my favorites! It resonates with me even more as an adult.....
Understanding the meanings i didn't as a child. The sign of a well written song. It grows along with you and can offer company and understanding on those lonely days and melancholy nights. Sincerely.......thank you Collin.
Men at work were a great band and should have lasted much longer than they did. Very original sound.
we need to bring this band back to Italy , asap
That is one hell of a live performance. I love that lead guitar solo by Colin and its a beautiful orange guitar. Overkill brings back memories of Overkill in the 80s.
My theme song obsession for many a sleepless pandemic panic-filled night.
The pipes are sounding stellar. Thanks Mate
It brings back so much memories.
Sou brasileiro sou fã desse cara dessa banda. (Sergipe Brasil. )
Nice Duesenberg, Colin!
I don't have words to describe this song! Colin's songs remind me of my childhood with my family! My parents love their music and I've learned to like it since I was little.
I remember the times in the 80s when Men At Work were the hottest band around. Those times were very high times back then. There wasnt as much sex as i would of liked but there was plenty of the other two! Thankyou Colin and the great Men At Work. I love hearing and seein Colin thesedays.
Timeless
In my all-time Top 10
Thanks so much
Top 👍💪👏👏
Fantastic! I bought the sheet music for the so I could learn to play it on My Guitar when I was about 16? It's been so long, one of my favorites of your masterpieces! Love the video!
Thank you, Colin! ❤❤❤❤❤
