How have I missed this channel! New subscriber here. Good comparison, currently looking at both of these. Using the B&W CM8 S1 at moment with a Naim Atom and REL T5i. I have had the PMC Twenty5 21i on home demo, impressive for size but had a hard slighty edgy sound in comparison with the CM8's. I am looking for a clear sound with lots of detail and air but not hard/harsh. Does the 704 have the same airiness/clarity of the 705? Thanks.
Welcome on board, appreciate kind words! In terms of the detail & clarity I’d say they are both very similar, I was shocked at how well the bookshelf held up against the floorstander! !
This is a great comparison and just what I have been looking for as I’m considering getting the 705s3 signature. I currently have the 704s2 and wonder how these would compare?
I've always preferred the bookshelf's over floor standards. I had the 707 s2 to my brothers 703 s2. Obviously the 703 is levels above but it's the type of sound because I found the floor standards too much of a bassy sound over cleaner sound. My brother has had a few amps arcam a25, rocksan attessa (my fav), marantz 40, rotel but has a marantz 50 for now anyway. However he has now bought focal aria 926 and they sound perfect so now I'm conflicted again haha
Bookshelves can often give you better value, especially if you don’t want a lot of low end (like myself!) The Atessa is great, I can imagine it works really well with the Focal’s!
When did Towers become Floor-Standers?......................... We're going to need another term for loudspeakers like Klipsh Cornwalls etc. How about Floor-Sitters? Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊
@@InfiniteBaffle . Just for the sake of conversation, Towers aren't part of the lingo anymore? Towers have a construction that is distinctly different, as a set, than Floor-Sitters. Find me a triple 6" woofered standmount. Bookshelves don't use stands & they're not Floor-Sitters. For the Noobs, we've got to start using correct terms. We've gotten slack. We call anything with a plug, an amplifier these days too. Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊
@@harmonykardon2116 Sure that can be. Depends on room size but also whether the bookshelves in question can produce convincing midbass (a higher frequency than subbass). Dynaudios paired with high current amps are renowned for producing convincing midbass.
I definitely should have added a ‘bear in mind’ counter 😂

Thanks, glad the video helped!

I would normally say that any speaker that doesn't need a stand is a floorstander, but there are some that are a little harder to define for sure

Спасибо за обзор. Выбираю между 704, 705 и focal kanta 1) знаю что это разные весовые категории) но выбор именно такой)
All 3 are great options but I have to say I love the Focal sound, warm, detailed, smooth, great speakers!
Bookshelf speakers with subwoofers are best for critical listening!
Definitely offers the most flexibility!
Humm… I found that even with a sub the bookshelf ones lack scale and therefore lack realism

never heard worse speakers in my life
I’ve got to ask- what speakers do you have?
